24、 Joe wanted a computer. He asked his parents for the money and they said he must get it himself. But how did he get it? He thought about this when he walked home. Not many people wanted to asked children to work for them. Maybe he could take away snow for the neighbors. But this was not winter. He had to wait a long time for that. Maybe he could cut grass for their gardens. But he had no tools to do the work with. He needed some other money to buy tools. He thought over and over again, but he got no result.
Then he saw one of his classmates, Dick, delivering newspapers. “I could do that, too.” He thought. “Maybe I could even get the computer right away. I could pay for it a little each week.” He ran to catch up with Dick and asked him a lot of questions. He learned that it was possible to get twenty-five dollars each week and that the job took him about three hours each night. Then Dick gave him the phone number of the newspaper manager.
Joe almost flew home. After he told his mother what he thought, she smiled. “I think it is a great idea.” She said, 'I'll call the newspaper manager.”

25、What is the first thing you want to do when you see someone yawn(打哈欠)? You want to yawn, too! Yawning is contagious.
Scientists have found that all people yawn. Babies start to yawn even before they are born. The earliest yawn takes place when a baby is still inside its mother. When young children are about one year old, they start to yawn when they see others yawning. That's why scientists seem to think yawning is contagious.
It’s no secret that yawning is contagious, but why do we yawn? Well, scientists are not really sure.
Some think we yawn because we feel bored. Recently scientists studied two groups of students between the ages of 17 and 19. One group watched music videos, and the other watched a boring color test. Scientists compared the numbers of their yawns and found that the color test group yawned more times than the video group.
Another reason about yawning has to do with breathing. Some scientists believe that when we are bored or tired, we breathe more slowly. As our breathing slows down, we cannot get rid of(去除) enough carbon dioxide (CO2) in our bodies. When there is too much carbon dioxide, our bodies will tell the brains (大脑) to breathe deeply. The result is a big yawn.
In 2007, scientists suggested a new reason. They said that the reason people yawned was to cool down their brains. These scientists found that people who were warmer than others yawned more often.
Scientists are still trying to find out why yawning happens and why it is so contagious. But they are only sure that when one person yawns, almost everyone else nearby wants to yawn, too.

It’s important to develop the healthy habits in your daily life. The following will help you become healthier and keep perfect shape.
Eat properly. A healthy diet(饮食)is very important for everybody. Breakfast is the most important meal in a day. Doctors suggest that students’ breakfast should include fruit, eggs, milk, rice or noodles, because these can offer them the energy they need, help them listen carefully in class and keep them healthy. Eat enough for lunch and little for supper. But remember that too much sugar is bad for your teeth and blood. You shouldn’t have too many sweet snacks and desserts(甜点) in your diet, even though such food tastes delicious.
Keep off germs(病菌). You need to have daily tooth cleaning. It reduces the number of germs which will spread diseases. Germs in the mouth are likely to enter the blood and cause illness, even heart disease. Even if you’re not sick, always remember to cough or sneeze(打喷嚏)into your arms instead of your hands because hands can spread germs to others when you touch something else. Besides, washing hands is necessary after going to the toilet or before having a meal. And you’d better rub both hands while washing them.
Exercise regularly(有规律地). Regular exercise can improve your moods and balance. What’s more, it’s good for bones. There are many forms of exercise such as walking or running for about 30 minutes a day playing ball games twice or three times a week, swimming or dancing often. You can choose your favorite to practise regularly. You will not only feel energetic but also think better after doing exercise.
Stay connected. Talking with friends regularly is the key to reducing stress. And sharing happiness and sadness, exchanging information with others can also help improve memory. Having a friend or a circle of friends can help you feel good.
