24、 We often realize we should change and unlock our self-improvement power, but we don’t take action. The only time we think of changing and unlocking our self improvement power is when everything gets worst. We think and feel this way because it is not easy to change, but change becomes more painful when we ignore(忽视)it.
When do we realize that we need to change diets? When none of our shirts and jeans would fit us. When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth have fallen off. When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs have gone bad. We see the warning signs and signals when things get difficult.
Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another, we are all going to finally unlock our self-improvement power not because the world says so, but because we realize it’s good for us.
Happy people don’t just accept change, they embrace(拥抱)it. Unlocking our self-improvement power means unlocking ourselves out of the box of thought that is just the way we are.
Jane always tells everyone that she doesn’t have the courage to be around groups of people. She hears her family tell the same things about her to other people. Over the years, that is what Jane has believed. Every time a great crowd come, she steps back and locks herself up in a room. Jane not only believes in her story, but also lives it!
Self-improvement may not be easy, but if we look at things in a different way, we might have greater chances of enjoying the whole process (过程) instead of counting the days until we are fully improved. Three times in a week at the gym would result in a healthier life. Reading books every day would build up knowledge. And only when we are enjoying the whole process of unlocking our self improvement power will we realize that we’re beginning to change and become happy.

26、Milk is a favourite drink of people all around the world. Not only is it a popular drink, it is also used as an ingredient in cakes, puddings, sauces, and many other foods. Milk is very important for your health, but it takes many steps to bring milk from the farm to your table at home. Where does milk come from?
Goats, camels, all lamas(美洲驼)produce milk that people drink. So do reindeer, sheep, and water buffalo. The type of milk you drink depends on where in the world you live. Most people drink milk that comes from special cows called dairy cattle. Most dairy cattle are black and white and they are raised in very sanitary(卫生的)conditions. People used to squeeze milk from cows by hand, but now milking machines are used. After milk leaves the cow, it has to be kept clean and cool, or else dangerous bacteria will grow quickly.
Milk goes through many stages before you can drink it. First, it is put in a large tank where many tests are done. Next, it is cleaned in order to remove any dust, hair, or dirt that is found.
The milk production goes through five more important steps. First, milk is divided for different uses. Milk will become either regular milk, cream, butter, or other dairy products. Milk is then heated to a very high temperature to kill any bacteria. This process, called pasteurization, is named for Pasteur, the doctor who invented it.
Next, any fat that may be in the milk is broken up evenly. This prevents the fat from rising to the top. In the fourth step, important nutrients, such as vitamins and proteins, are added to the milk.

27、 Although he died almost 40 years ago, Bruce Lee is still considered the greatest and most influential kung fu performer of the 20th century. His films brought traditional Hong Kong kung fu movies to a new level of popularity, and introduced kung fu to millions of people in the West.
Born in the USA in 1940, Lee returned to his native Hong Kong before his birthday. As a teenager, the highly intelligent boy was accepted into one of Hong Kong's most famous middle schools but he paid little attention to his studies. He was more interested in sport, especially kung fu, and hanging out with his street-gang friends. In 1959, Lee got into trouble with the police for fighting. His mother, fearing he would end up in prison, sent him to the USA. Two years later, he began studying at university there.
While still a student, Lee opened his own kung fu school, teaching a new fighting style he had developed. What made Lee's style different was that it used power, strength and quick-action attacks. It also combined(融合)Japanese, Korean and South American fighting styles with traditional slow-moving Chinese kung fu.
Among Lee's students were several famous actors who are impressed by his good-looks and fighting skill, encouraged him to start acting. Over the next five years Lee achieved some success in America. But his dream of introducing his fighting style into American movies was not accepted by local film makers who thought western audiences were not interested in kung fu.
Determined to prove them wrong, Lee returned to Hong Kong in 1970. There he made two films Fists of Fury (1971) and Way of the Dragon (1972), using his kung fu ideas and techniques. The movies were huge hits world-wide, making Lee an international star and symbol of kung fu.
