1、 Ladies and gentleman,
Welcome to Boston University on such a beautiful Friday night.
My name is Yujing Cai, and I am a graduate from the Master of Mathematical Finance program. I come from Nanjing, China, one of the oldest cities in the world. Right now, my family is sitting somewhere over there. 45. They travelled across half of the earth to attend their daughter’s graduation ceremony. And they are watching me giving a speech in a language they don’t understand. Therefore, I am tremendously honored to share my perspective of 6 years at the Questrom School of Business.
46. The thing I always enjoyed doing was looking at the different country flags in the hall. Sometimes my friends and I even have silly competitions going on to see who knew more flags and it often amazed me how many different cultures and nationalities are represented in our community.
In the past 6 years here. 47. 我很自豪见证了我们学校的成长。 from School of Management to Questrom School of Business, and that our community is growing stronger and better each year, and this couldn’t have happened without the effort of everyone here to share, to inspire, and to embrace each other.
Let’s now think about the future. 48. 没有人知道我们将会面临什么样的挑战。But we are sure that we will need a diverse(多样的) set of skills and knowledge. 49. And the most important of all is that we need an open mind to learn. That’s why we have been so lucky to be part of the Questrom community that cultivated such freedom of an open mind.
So, congratulations, class of 2017! For when you walk outside that door today, you are already equipped with one of the most critical skills to succeed in the future, the ability to embrace diversity. Thank you so much!

He was the greatest writer in the English language and is known around the world. But how much do you really know about William Shakespeare and his life? Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, located in central England, in 1564 and died in 1616. His surviving works consist of 38 plays, 154 sonnets (十四行诗) and some other poems. He is best known for his plays, which have been translated into every major language and are performed more than those of any other playwright (剧作家) in the world.
When Shakespeare was 18 years old, he married Anne Hathaway and they had three children. Shakespeare went to London to work as an actor and a writer. In 1599, the Globe Theatre was built in London. It was in this theatre that some of Shakespeare’s plays were first performed. In 1613, the theatre was destroyed by a fire. However, the modern reconstruction (重建) of the theatre was built near the original site in 1997, so even today you can go to the Globe Theatre to see one of Shakespeare’s plays.
Shakespeare’s works are still very popular. But why do we like these old plays? Perhaps it is because they all contain fantastic stories. His characters suffer bloody battles, deaths by poison (毒药), and dramatic family battles. His plays are full of exciting storylines and lessons about morality (道德).
Hamlet, for example, is about revenge and also about how difficult it is to take actions sometimes, even when it is important to do so. Hamlet’s father is murdered by another man, who then marries Hamlet’s mother. Everybody wants to see Hamlet dead. Hamlet must take revenge, but will he be able to?
