四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)

Willy was growing up. He didn’t understand why all the wolves had to do everything together. They ate together, played together, slept together, and hunted (猎食)together. Everywhere, every day. It was tiring.

Willy thought he could do things himself now, such as hunting (狩猎) a rabbit, hanging out, sleeping alone and so on. But his mom wouldn’t let him try these by himself. She told him, “Packs (狼群) help us survive.”

One day, the pack was walking through the woods. Willy knew that there was food down a path, but the pack didn’t want to go that way! Finally, Willy went down the path without the pack’s agreement.

He ran for miles and got tired. He decided to find a cave to sleep in. But he hardly slept that night. He thought, “Sleeping would be much easier with my pack all around me. If something comes, they will protect me.”

In the morning, he decided to go back to find the pack. As he was running, he smelled a deer. He thought, “The pack would be happy if I brought a deer for them. ” So he tried to hunt on his own.

Willy followed the deer into an open air. Suddenly, something charged (猛冲) out of the trees at him! It was the deer, and those antlers were sharp! He ran from the deer as fast as he could! Finally, the deer stopped running after him.

Willy rested. He started thinking how much easier this trip would have been with his pack by his side. He realized his mother was right, packs do help them survive. In the end, he found his pack and worked hard to help them as much as they helped him.

  • 25、If you want to see a thing well, touching can help you to “see” it better.

Your eyes can tell you that a glass ball is round. But by holding it in your hands, you can feel how smooth and cool the ball is. You can feel how heavy the glass ball is. When you learn all these about the ball, you really see it well.

With your skin, you can feel better. For example, your fingers can tell the difference between two different coins in your pocket. You can feel a little drop of water on the back of your hand, too. You can even feel sounds against your skin. Have you ever wanted to know why some people like very loud music? They must like to feel the sounds of music. All children soon learn what “Don’t touch!” means. They hear it often. Yet most of us keep on touching things as we grow up. In shops,we touch things that we might buy. To see something well,we have to touch it. The bottoms of our feet can feel things, too. You know this when you walk on warm sand, cool grass or a hard floor. All feel different under your feet.

Most museums are just for looking. But today some museums have some things to touch. Their signs say,“ Do touch!” There you can feel everything on show.

There are ways of learning to see well by feeling. One way is to close your eyes and try to feel everything that is touching your skin. Feel the shoes on your feet, the clothes on your body, the air on your skin.

If you want to see better, reach out and touch it. Then you will really see!

  • 27、2024 is the year of the dragon! In Chinese culture, the dragon is a powerful and mysterious creature. It’s not a real animal but a combination (结合) of many animals’ features. Dragons usually live in the river, well and ocean. They can control water, rain and floods. When they sneeze (打喷嚏), it will rain.

Chinese dragons represent (代表) power, wisdom and good luck. In ancient China, it was believed that the emperor, who was called the “Son of the Dragon”, had a special connection to the dragon and its power. Only emperors could wear clothes with dragon patterns, and their throne (王位) was called the Dragon Throne.

Nowadays, Chinese people are still proud to call themselves the “descendants (传人) of the dragon”. People born in the year of the dragon are said to have special qualities. They are often strong-willed, confident, and passionate. They are also believed to be lucky and successful in life. So excellent and outstanding people are often compared to dragons. No wonder parents always want their sons to become dragons!

However, where I am from, we have different feelings about dragons. In the Bible (圣经), dragons represent the devil (恶魔) and trick the world. Western people usually see dragons as cold-blooded animals, like snakes. They are dishonest because of their forked (分叉) tongues. They are cruel killers, breathing fire and catching women. So it is a common tale for a knight (骑士) to kill a dragon and save a princess. Even the popular boy Harry Potter has to beat a deadly dragon and get back a golden egg from its nest.

Because of this, some Chinese experts suggested changing the English word for Chinese dragons to its pinyin, “Long”. They believe the name “dragon” makes western people think badly about China. But some don’t agree. They think Chinese people can look after their own culture. Well, living in China for more than ten years, I already know the difference, and I also love the Chinese dragons!

【1】_______ could wear clothes with dragon patterns in ancient China.

    A.Chinese emperors

    B.Harry Potter

    C.Knights

    D.Chinese experts

【2】The underlined words in the third paragraph have the same meaning as ________ in Chinese.

    A.龙飞凤舞

    B.龙腾虎跃

    C.望子成龙

    D.龙马精神

【3】The underlined word “this” in the last paragraph probably refers to__________.

    A.the difference

    B.the story

    C.the language

    D.the country

【4】What is the best title of the passage?

    A.The Year of the Dragon

    B.The Sayings of Dragons

C.Dragons in China and the West

    D.Dragons and Emperors

    A good way to dine

For only 20 yuan, Ms. Fang could buy her lunch at a community canteen (食堂) in Suzhou. She had a meat dish, a vegetable dish and a bowl of rice—all very 【1】 (health). “The dishes have a home-cooked taste,” said Ms. Fang.

Community canteens have become more and more popular in China recently. They were made for 【2】 old at first. It can be difficult for some old people to cook 【3】 their own, so the canteens offer help. They can have lunch and dinner within a 10-minute walk, or community 【4】 (work) can bring the dishes to them. The meals are cooked 【5】 (special) for these people. The food is softer and has 【6】 (little) oil.

Now, the community canteens are bringing in more young people. If they don’t want to order takeout meals 【7】 eat at restaurants, the canteens provide them with healthier and cheaper dishes.

This also encourages community canteens to think of some 【8】 (create) ways to provide food and make things easier for people. A canteen in Beijing’s Lugu Community brings out buffet-style (自助模式) dishes. They are 【9】 (sell) at 2.48 yuan per 100 grams. The price is lower than those of restaurants close by.

The rise of community canteens couldn’t have happened without the work of local governments. They provide subsidies (补贴) for 【10】 (build) the canteens and the dining expenses (花费) of old people. There are more than 6,700 community canteens in China.
