China is seeing more foreign visitors these days. It’s a unilateral (单边的) policy. This means that the policy only works for visitors from these countries who wish to visit China.
【2】 Of this number, about 7,000 people used the visa-free policy, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The visa-free travel “shows China’s willingness to welcome more visitors”, Wang Xuan at the University of Surrey in the UK told China Daily. 【3】 The policy is helpful for development and opening-up as international companies can have more and easier business trips.
【4】 “During the COVID-19 pandemic, we seldom saw foreign people in China,” said Jiang Xinwei, a student in Jilin. “【5】”, she added. “A visa-free policy like this is good for sharing our culture with the world,” said Wu Ruilin, a student in Chengdu, Sichuan.

25、Hot pot (火锅) is many Chinese people’s favorite food, including mine. After having three days of hamburgers, sandwiches and potatoes in the UK, you can imagine how excited I was when I got to know that there was going to be a free meal of hotpot to welcome new students. On the way to the canteen, I could smell hot pot in the air.
To my surprise, when I stepped into the room, in front of me were still potatoes and bread. Where is the hot pot?
With many questions in my head, I sat down to have the free meal. After chatting with a French girl, I got to know that hot pot is completely different from hotpot. Chinese hot pot is written in two words and hotpot, one word, is a traditional English dish.
Hotpot is made from mutton (羊肉) and onion. On the top there are sliced (切成片的) potatoes. People put it in the oven (烤箱) all day in a heavy pot and on a low heat (低温加热). It takes very little effort to prepare. You can often see it at parties in the UK because it’s easy to prepare for a large number of people and is not expensive.
Hotpot doesn’t taste bad. However, I still miss hot pot, two words!

27、When I was in high school, I entered an English speech competition. My listening and writing were excellent, but I couldn’t express my ideas clearly and fluently. So I always stayed up late practicing it. One day, I was so tired that I wanted to give up. My English teacher Mr. Smith noticed that and came to me. He said, “The point isn’t to win the competition. The point is to learn to work hard at something. That’s what you’re getting out of it.”After listening to his words, I cleared my mind and focused on practice. Although I only won the third place, I had no regrets because I learned more in the process of preparation.
When I entered college, I majored in(主修) math while my favorite was history. I had a hard time working out different math problems. I forced myself to learn as much as I could from such a challenging subject, which made me upset every day. At that time, Mr. Smith’s words came into my mind and encouraged me to keep going. Even if I had no interest in the subject, it could still teach me something valuable.

Everything we feel comes from within us. 【2】
If we create unhappiness for ourselves, the world will show us that unhappiness, but if we create joy, peace, and love for ourselves, this is what we will get back.
Can blame solve any problems? 【3】 When people did something hat makes us angry, afraid or hurt, we are doing nothing more than showing them the anger we feel inside.
We have choices about things that make us unhappy. We sometimes prefer to take the easier choices, the ones that keep us in our comfort zone(地带). 【4】 Sometimes we just have to go beyond our comfort zone, which may mean facing something we don't like. Perhaps we feel like a victim(受害者) and don't stand up for ourselves or speak up when we feel that people don't respect us. Maybe we are afraid of a situation, so we run away from it, instead of facing it with inner strength.
