24、Sustainable (可持续的) housing refers to environmentally safe building designs. This type of housing can, either fully or partly, use renewable energy, such as sun or water, to power the homes. There are many different types of sustainable housing.
Green roof homes are buildings with roofs that include different kinds of plants. The plants bring many advantages to the home, such as stopping noises from outside. Green roofs also often help keep the building cooler during the summer and warmer in the winter. They can be used as gardens for growing fruits, vegetables or flowers that improve the air quality not only for the home, but also for the nearby area.
Underground homes are another type of sustainable housing. These are usually made much like traditional homes, but are built partly or fully underground. Some have moss-covered (青苔覆盖的) roofs. Many of these houses make use of geothermal (地热) energy, or heat stored inside the Earth, to regulate temperature. Besides being underground, many of these houses have special-placed windows that allow natural sunlight to brighten them.
Glass houses have walls made almost totally from glass. This allows natural light to warm the whole home during the day. These homes often turn sunlight into electricity that can power the home at night. This system reduces electricity bills and is friendly to the environment.
Another type of sustainable housing is floating homes, or houseboats. These houses float on water and are typically light-weight and small in size. Some of them are filled with argon gas (氩气) which helps to keep the house afloat. Many floating homes make use of solar or power got from water flows to make electricity and heat.

Traveling alone is fun, but wouldn’t you feel lonely? Having a travel partner can remove the feeling of loneliness. This is especially true if you can get a travel partner who is very familiar with the place you’re traveling to. You don’ t have to ask any information from the locals, and you can increase the time you spend in the country.
One of the headaches in traveling is the costs. You can’t pay no attention the rising price of hotels or plane tickets. You should also think about your daily needs such as your food. 26、Does every dinner with your parents seem to turn into a battle? Has your once warm and open conversation become cold and guarded? You are not alone. Heated arguments and cold silences are common between teenagers and their parents.
Teenagers’ physical changes may result in such family problems. You may feel anxious that you are developing at a different rate to your friends, shooting up in height or getting left far behind. You might worry about your changing voice and weight problems. When it all gets too much, your parents are often the first targets (目标) for your anger.
It can be a big headache to balance your developing mental needs too. You enter a strange middle ground — no longer a small child but not quite an adult. You have both a new desire (渴望) for independence and a continued need for your parents’ love and support. You feel ready to be more responsible and make decisions on your own. Unluckily, your parents do not always agree and that makes you feel unhappy,“Why can’t they just let me go?” You may wonder. On the other hand, when you are trying to control your feelings, you wish they could be more caring and patient — sometimes they forget that growing up is a hard ride. It can be difficult when your parents treat you like a child but expect you to act like an adult. All of this can lead to a breakdown (破裂) in your relationship.
________ The key to keeping the peace is regular and honest communication. When you disagree with your parents, take a minute to calm down and try to understand the situation from their point of view. After you have thought it through, explain your actions and feelings calmly, listen carefully, and address their concerns (忧虑). Through this kind of healthy discussion, you will learn when to back down and when to ask your parents to relax their control.
Just remember that it is normal to fight with such stress and that stormy time will not last. Everything will turn out all right in the end, and the changes and challenges of your teenage years will prepare you for adulthood.

27、 Smart-phones have become an important part of our daily lives. However, to protect younger students’ eyesight and make sure they focus on studies, primary and middle schools will have more rules to limit (限制) students’ mobile phone use at school.
The Ministry of Education (教育部) published a notice in January that restricts primary and middle school students from carrying mobile phones to school. Those who still require their phone for some reason must get their parents’ and teachers’ approval and must hand their phones over during class time. The policy aims to improve students’ focus on study and fight addiction to the Internet and games.
It’s reported that China had about 200 million Internet users under 18 by the year of 2020, with 72 percent having their own mobile devices. This is worrying, as long-time use of smart-phones harms children’s eyesight, cervical vertebrae and even the brain, according to the WHO.
On Feb. 19th, Beijing Municipal Education Commission (教委) published a notice that asked all local primary and middle schools to include rules about smart-phone usage in school management. Schools should clarify where, how and who will take care of the phones from students.
Many schools have taken action to limit students’ phone use at school. According to Zhou Dan, a teacher in Beijing, every classroom in her school has a box to store students’ phones during class. Before the new policy came out, she said that many students were crazy about their phones and most of them lack self-discipline (自律), they spent too much time on the phone. But now great changes are happening to the students.
Li Hua, a student from Anhui, agrees with the new policy. “In general, there’re more advantages.” he said. Li believes that the policy can help students put the focus back on study.
