二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、People will tell you the only way to really learn a language is to completely immerse(浸入)yourself in a country where that language is spoken. Not all language learners, of course, will have the opportunity to spend some time in an immersion environment. But if you can't actually fly across the world to learn a new language, you can always create an immersion environment where you can talk to native speakers.

That's where Babbel comes in. Babbel is one of the most popular language learning apps on the market for studying new languages at your own pace. The app emphasises real-life conversational skills, so you won't be stopped by grammatical structures and verb patterns.

And right now, you can get 15%off a lifetime subscription (订阅)to Babbel Language Learning($150; stacksocial. com).A lifetime subscription is huge when it comes to getting the most out of the app, since you'll be able to return to lessons time and time again and brush up on whichever section or topic you might need.

So how does it all work? First, you'll choose one of the 14 languages. While Babbel offers familiar languages like Spanish and Italian, it also offers less commonly studied ones like Polish, Indonesian and more. Once you pick your language, you'll choose a wide range of real-life topics. Each course takes about 10 to 15 minutes, so you can pick one up on the way to work, during your lunch break, or really at any point you have some time to kill.

Beyond this, Babbel includes a ton of additional features tailored to making sure you learn the language in a real, practical and accurate way. The app uses speech recognition technology to make sure your pronunciation is accurate compared with how native speakers would say certain words.

【1】What does Paragraph 1 mainly tell us?

    A.The terrifying experiences of travelling.

B.The importance of language learning environment.

A.It's a tool for learning languages.

  • 27、Ecotourism(生态旅游): A Different Way to Travel

Are you attracted to obscure(偏远的)places? Do you prefer to vacation away from other tourists? Are you careful to take only memories and to leave only footprints? If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, you just might be an ecotourist.

Ecotourists are people who want to experience the unspoiled natural world and leave it that way when they return home. This trend started in the 1990s and ecotourism is now growing three times faster than the tourism industry at large. The Ecuador’s remote Amazon Basin(盆地) is contributing to that expansion, and it gives a snapshot of what ecotourism looks like.

At the Ecolodge, a small group of cabins(小屋) sits Kapawi Ecolodge in the middle of the Achuar people’s reserve(保护区) and is only reached by air. From here, visitors can explore parts of the Amazon rainforest seen by few outsiders. As they do local Achuar guides explain how the forest is like their supermarket, where they find food, clothing, medicine and tools. As a result, tourists learn to appreciate the local culture as well as the natural environment.

The owners of Kapawi pay monthly rent to the Achuar people, but they also train the community to run and manage the lodge. They have agreed on a plan to turn the operation over to the Achuar completely by 2011.The owners are working to make ecotourism benefit and empower the local people.

You probably won’t start your own ecolodge, but you can be an ecotourist if you follow these guidelines: Protect the environment; Support local businesses; Respect the local customs and traditions.

The world is full of fascinating places to visit. As an ecotourist, you can enjoy them yourself and make sure that they remain beautiful for future generations as well.

1According to the text, the ecotourists should be________.

    A. those who like to experience the easily-remembered natural environment

    B. those who like to go to their travelling places by hiking

    C. those who prefer an undamaged natural world and remain what it used to be

    D. those who prefer unique natural environment of cultural relics

2At the Kapawi ecolodge, visitors can’t________.

    A. explore the Amazon rainforest

    B. reach there by air

    C. live in the Achuar reserve

    D. see many travelers from outside

3Which of the words is closest in meaning to the word “snapshot” in the second paragraph?

    A. Idea.   B. Aim.

    C. Adventure.   D. Opportunity.

4We can learn from the passage that________.

    A. the Kapawi Ecolodge will continue to run and manage the lodge after 2011

    B. the Kapawi Ecolodge owners are the Achuar in favor of ecotourism

    C. the Achuar people have benefited a lot by collecting money from ecotourists

    D. the owners of Kapawi encourage tourists to appreciate the Achuar culture

  • 28、   According to a 2010 study by Princeton researchers Daniel Kahneman and Angus Deaton, people tend to feel happier when they make more money, up until a point, which was estimated to be about 75,000 a year per person. And people’s emotional well-being, or how they felt on a daily basis, didn't improve as they made over 75,000 but their life satisfaction, or how happy they were with their life overall, did.

But more recently, a 2018 study from Purdue University used much wider data from the Gallup World Poll and found that the perfect income point for individuals is 95,000 for life satisfaction and 60,000 to 75,000 for emotional well-being. When people earned more than 105,000 their happiness levels decreased.

More money doesn't make us happier but making “more relative to other people” does, according to Yale psychology professor Laurie Santos. “Even the richest folks out there in the world can often look around and find somebody that's just a bit richer, and therefore their money isn't making them as happy as they think,” she says. Studies also suggest that when we feel like we can't maintain the same standard of living as our peers, it makes us unhappy. Simply getting more money doesn't make us happier because of the “hedonic adaptation”. “Over time, we get used to that change in our life and our expectations change and our lifestyle changes—we adapt” says Sonja Lyubomirsky, a professor of psychology. Plus “Every time we experience a rise in income, our expectations rise a little bit.”

Research consistently shows that if you want to be happier in your job, you shouldn't desire a high salary. From a happiness standpoint, it's more important that your job provides a sense of meaning or purpose, “You should focus on whether the job is meeting your own strengths,” Santos says. “These are your own values, the ones you want to experience in the world.”

【1】What does the study from Purdue University show?

A.Your happiness depends on your income.

B.As for happiness, being “rich” is perfect.

C.There is a sort of perfect “happiness” salary.

D.There are many things more important than money.

【2】Which of the following is Laurie Santos’ opinion?

A.The richer people are usually happier.

B.“Hedonic adaptation” needs to be studied.

C.The standard of living depends on well-being.

D.Happiness is affected by making comparisons.

【3】Why does a high-paying job fail to raise our happiness level?

    A.Our working conditions keep changing.

B.Our demands for life quality keep changing.

C.Our satisfaction with the job keeps changing.

D.Our understanding of happiness keeps changing.

【4】What plays a vital role in helping you find happiness in your job?

    A.Your realization of self-worth.

    B.Your colleagues’ attitude towards you.

    C.Your relationship with your employers.

D.Your satisfaction with your salary level.
