  • 26、   Growing up,we are constantly reminded that young people are heavily affected by technology. We are the”antisocial club”those who prefer to text our friends in the same room rather than make eye contact with them. And even though never-ending studies reveal to us the extent of our social media addiction,we should at least consider that it’s not only our young people’s problem any more.

There’s the rise of the Instagram mums, who like to post an abundance of cute baby pictures, share their mom feelings along the way and show their wonderful lifestyles. They are the so-called”Facebook mum generation”a growing group of parents that like to overshare.

While all of this might be fine, and even a little humorous, new research suggests that parents’ technology addiction is negatively affecting their children’s behavior.According to the study,40%of mothers and 32%of fathers have admitted having some sort of phone addiction. This has led to a significant fall in verbal interactions within families and even a decline in mothers’ encouraging their children.

There is no denying that I get annoyed when receiving the words”I’ll be with you soon” from a parent, when all I want to do is ask one question. But,at the same time, every day leaving the room to wait until my father is finished with his”serious business”(Farmville),has now become the norm.Whether you want to escape your disturbing children for a bit,or want to stay up late flicking through Twitter, know that wanting to do all of these is normal.We-your children-know how addictive it can be and how difficult it is to switch off.But before telling us to put our phones away at the table or even worse, listing statistics of how damaging social media can be for us,maybe lead by example, considering how much time you spend on the phone and how this is impacting your children and your relationship with us.Maybe in this way we can work on our addiction together.

1From Paragraph 1,we can know that teenagers nowadays_.

    A.enjoy socializing with their friends

B.send messages to their friends every day

C.hate to make eye contact with their friends

D.are heavily addicted to their mobile phones

2What does the author think of mums’ oversharing?

    A.Boring. B.Funny. C.Selfish. D.Meaningful.

    3The underlined word”norm”in Paragraph 4 probably means

    A.discipline B.standard C.routine D.custom

4What’s the main purpose of the article?

A.To share the author’s own experience with the readers.

B.To call on parents to get rid of their own media addiction.

C.To reveal that parents are always addicted to mobile phones.

D.To show the author’s dissatisfaction with parents’ phone use.

  • 27、   A survey has shown that what you do on a plane can be determined by which nationality is listed on your passport. According to the results of an international passenger survey, Australians are the biggest drinkers on board with 36 percent choosing to down the hatch, compared to 35 percent of Americans and 33 percent of Brits.

The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) spoke to around 1,500 people aged 18 and older, who have traveled by plane at least once during the last three months and were living in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China Singapore, Australia and Brazil.

The results found Chinese travelers are most likely to nod off once the seat-belt sign switches off. They are also the first to take out their credit card for some in-flight shopping and the biggest fans of gaming. Americans on the other hand like to use their time in the air more productively—when not drinking—choosing to work while flying at 35,000 feet.

Meanwhile, Brits and Germans are the best at making a chat with random strangers—spending 50 percent more time than any other nationality. Comparatively, Brazilians conduct their conversations online via email, messaging apps or social media.

Despite plane food having a bad reputation, seven out of ten interviewees said they were happy to eat up on the selection of in-flight snacks and meals. In-flight magazines were also popular with four out of five passengers.

The international flyers, who travelled on eight major airlines, did however express their desire for better in-flight entertainment. 'The industry has greatly improved the comfort, entertainment and onboard service, and passengers are accepting those improvements' said Russell Lemieux, APEX executive director. 'At the same time, passengers are demanding more from their air travel experiences which will drive more improvements touching all aspects of the journey.' he added.

1What can you probably see in the flight according to the passage?

A.Brazilians choose to drink. B.Americans do in-flight shopping.

C.Germans chat to kill the time. D.The Chinese switch off the seat-belt sign.

2When on board the plane, ________.

A.most passengers like to read in-flight magazines

B.passengers from one nation have little in common

C.more than half of the passengers don’t enjoy plane food

D.most people tend to have a good sleep during in-flight time

3What can we learn from the last paragraph?

A.Flyers care not a little about entertainment.

B.Flyers are expecting better flight experiences.

C.Flyers are not satisfied with the improvements.

D.Flyers have more and more demands from airlines.

4What's the purpose of the passage?

  • 28、Facts about novel corona virus: Prevention and control

Keep distance with people when talking

The novel corona virus can be transmitted via droplets and fly to 2 meters in the air before falling to the ground. Droplets can be transmitted far longer when sneezing and coughing than speaking, so apart from keeping 1 to 2 meters of distance, also remember to wear a mask when you are close to someone else.

Washing hands can reduce risk of getting infected

Please wash your hands promptly and properly after touching elevator buttons or using cash. Do not touch your nose or mouth or rub your eyes before washing your hands. Do not use smart phones while eating.

Receiving delivered packages at home not dangerous

Though the virus might be attached to the packaging of delivered items, the possibility of transmission through express delivery is extremely low. Before going out to take your delivery, remember to wear a mask. After removing the packaging, please wash your hands.

Sun exposure cannot kill the virus

The temperature of sun light cannot reach 56, and the ultraviolet rays in sunlight cannot reach the intensity of ultraviolet lamps, so the virus can’t be killed by the sunlight. If you want to go out to get some sun, please wear a mask and take other protective measures.

Taking a hot bath or using air conditioning cannot kill the virus

Although the virus is vulnerable to heat. It can only be inactivated after exposure to a 56 temperature for over 30 minutes.

Woolen fabric doesn’t retain virus longer

It is believed that the virus prefers smooth, non-porous surfaces and stays on wooler fabrics for shorter time. At home or before going out, it is not necessary to consider which kind of material has less chance to absorb the virus- choosing comfortable clothes is enough. After returning home, please wash your hands, sterilize the clothes and dry the clothes.

1What are you advised to do when taking delivered packages?

    A.Wear a mask. B.Take a hot bath.

    C.Open packages. D.Dry the clothes.

2According to the passage, the following sentences are right EXCEPT that_______.

A.the virus is vulnerable to heat.

B.the virus can be transmitted via droplets.

C.the virus prefers smooth, non-porous surfaces.

D.the virus cannot be killed by the ultraviolet rays.

  • 29、Tunnels are passageways that are built under the ground. They can also be made under a sea or a river. Some tunnels are dug through high mountains.

For hundreds of years, tunnels have been built all over the world. People use these tunnels to travel from one place to another. Some tunnels are used as waterlanes. Coal and gemstones are also brought from under the ground through long tunnels.

In the past, people dug tunnels using picks and shovels. Rocks and soil were loaded into one-wheel barrows and then onto horses and carts. This work was very tiring.

Today, engineers do a lot of planning before they start to build a tunnel. They use computers to check the level of the water and the types of rock under the ground. When they are sure the area is safe, huge machines are used to dig out the soil.

These machines have an enormous cutting wheel at the front. The wheel slowly grinds(磨碎) through the rock and soil to make the tunnel. Soil that is not needed is carried away in large trucks. As the tunnel becomes longer,it is lined with huge pipes so the walls and roof do not callapse.

Long tunnels have powerful lights to help drivers see the road ahead. Water sprinklers(洒水装置)are fitted to help keep people safe if a fire breaks out in the tunnel.

In large cities, tunnels are built under very busy roads. ,People can drive through these tunnels. This makes it quicker to travel to different parts of the city.

Some trains have to wind slowly and carefully over steep mountain slopes. But,in places where there are tunnels, trains can travel quickly through the mountain to reach the other side.

【1】Why do people build the tunnels in big cities?

    A.To explore the underground world.

    B.To exhibit engineering skills.

C.To draw water from the underground.

D.To improve the means of transportation.

【2】How are the ways to build tunnels today different from the ancient ones?

A.People dig tunnels with heavy machinery instead of simple tools.

B.People don't need to deal with the soil from digging now.

C.To keep safe, computers will do everything for people.

D.People use huge pipes for all tunnels for safety reasons.

【3】What do the last two paragraphs serve as?

    A.An introduction.

    B.Supporting details.

    C.A comparison.

    D.A conclusion.

Why your Password May Not Be As Safe As It Seems?  Does “qaz2ws” strike you as a nice safe password? What about “adgjmptw”? An analysis has found them to be among the passwords that are most 1 used, which of course means they are not secure at all.

When ten million passwords were leaked on to the internetthey appeared to 2that attempts by internet security experts to make us improve our password strength had been successful, even if, in the specific case of the leaked passwords, they are also completely pointless.

While many of the passwords were still single words, such as “password”there was also a clear attempt by many to make them harder to3. The problem was that people seemed to do so in the same way.

“Users are becoming slightly more 4what makes a password strong,” explained WP Engine, an internet company that performed the analysis. “For instance, adding a number or two at the end of a text phrase. That makes it better, right?”

But 5no. They found that almost half a million passwords did this and in 20 percent of those all people did was put the number “1” at the end.

Perhaps this is why some companies are now trying to move gradually beyond passwords. Yahoo! is giving users the option to 6 their mobile phone with an account, having a single use passwords texted to it each time they want to log on.

Although the serviced is voluntary, Dylan Casey an executive at Yahoo!said that it was “the first step to7passwords”. He said it was a(n)8that it was increasingly hard for people to remember all the passwords they had. “I don’t think we, as an industry, have done a good enough job of putting ourselves in the shoes of the people using our products,” he said.

It would certainly be a more sensible strategy than same people’s improving upon “password” by using “password” or“tran5p053d numb3r5 f0r 133tr3r5”.

“We are, for the most partpredictably9when it comes to choosing passwords, despite a decade of warnings from password strength checkers during sign-ups” said WP Engine. “We love taking a(n) 10, and so do password crackers.

  • 41、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

About ten years ago, my wife and I took a trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I didn't like to carry all my keys in my pocket during a hike, so I took away the key to the car and left the rest in the car. When we came back, I put the key somewhere in the car without reattaching it to the key ring. Then we made a fire, cooked some food, and went to sleep in the back of the SUV.

The next morning, we were cleaning up our campsite when I saw a bird inside my car. I walked over, and it flew away. When we got in the car to go home, I couldn't find the key. We searched and searched even emptying out the car completely, but it was gone.

Then it hit me that the bird must have taken it. After all, those birds are known for stealing shiny things and decorating their nests with them. Keys are shiny. The bird was the thief! It made perfect sense to me. So I decided to find its nest.

But there is a problem: As everyone knows, the Grand Canyon is a little large in area, so I didn't like my chances of actually finding a certain nest belonging to a certain bird in a certain tree in all that space. But what other choice did I have?

My wife was not encouraging me. She said, “Are you crazy? You'll never find it! The Grand Canyon is the biggest hole on Earth!” I didn't answer and walked steadily forward until her laughter died away.

I struggled to keep hope as I searched dozens of trees and tracked every singing bird. It was like searching a needle in the sea. But, oh, how great my victory would be when I held the missing key from the bird's nest.

    注意:
