26、When traveling abroad, it is wise to carry your money in traveler's checks because checks are protected against loss or theft. If your checks are lost or stolen, the issuing authority will refund(赔偿) your money.
Not only are they safe, they are also convenient. They are available in different currencies and they can be cashed at most banks throughout the world. Most shops, hotels and restaurants also accept them.
Traveler's checks are very easy to use. When you collect them, you sign each check once. The cashier enters the amount in your passport. When you cash, you sign each check again. The cashier will usually ask to see your passport again too.
To get traveler's checks you usually go to your bank. They can be paid in cash or in other ways. Large amounts, however, must be ordered in advance.
For the safety and convenience of traveler's checks, you are charged two commissions(佣金,酬劳): an insurance commission when you buy them and an encashment commission when you cash them.
It is suitable to make a note of the serial numbers of your checks. Keep this separate from your traveler's checks.(词数191)

27、 When you think of a national park, you generally picture fresh air and wild animals, right? Well, now you’re going to have to add tea shops and something called "the Tube" to your definition, because London, England has signed up to be the first "National Park City. "
London was established by the Romans around 2,000 years ago and has been continually inhabited(居住于)since then. In all that time, however, nobody had the idea to replace all the parks with big box stores or high buildings, which means London already has a much lower urban density(密度)than most of the world's cities. Nowadays about a third of the city is green space.
In July 2019, London announced its willingness to become the world’s first National Park City. Now the city is moving toward the goal of achieving 50% green space by the year 2050 by connecting and expanding public parks, greening up unused parking lots and the private yards of existing and new houses, fixing some green roofs on existing buildings and even cutting holes in fences for wildlife to pass through.
"Inspired by the aims and values of our precious rural national parks, the London National Park City is basically about making life better in the capital through both small everyday things and long-term strategic thinking," Daniel Raven-Ellison, who began the campaign to make London a National Park City six years ago, said in a press release. "We've been doing that in London for centuries, which is why London is so green and diverse."
London will have a much easier job achieving this type of green transformation than more densely- urbanized cities like Paris and New York, which have 10% and 27% green space, respectively. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible--the National Park City Foundation hopes to employ 25 more cities in addition to London by the year 2025. Glasgow, Scotland and Newcastle upon Tyne in northeast England are both currently considering becoming National Park Cities.
【1】Where can we find the data on London's measures to achieve its goal?
A.In Paragraph 1. B.In Paragraph 2.
C.In Paragraph 3. D.In Paragraph 4.
【2】What is Daniel Raven-Ellison trying to talk about in the fourth paragraph?
A.London's long-term strategic thinking. B.The significance of London's campaign.
C.The effects of national parks on London. D.The resources of London's green space.
【3】What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Trying to be a national park city is turning new trend.
B.National park cities are springing up around the world.
C.It is so easy for London to become a national park city.
D.National park cities are making improvements to our life.

29、 Two square meters of the next-generation perovskite solar cells (PSCs) would be enough to generate (产生) about as much electricity as a standard solar panel, according to the latest study.
Solar cell windows are something researchers have been working on for years, but as yet no one has really hit the sweet spot in terms of efficiency, stability and cost. The team behind the new project says they are closer than ever to doing just that.
Rooftop solar has a conversion (转化) efficiency of between 15 and 20 percent. The semi-transparent (半透明的) cells have a conversion efficiency of 17 percent, while still letting more than 10 percent of the light come in.
Central to the work is the replacement of key solar cell component (Spiro-OMeTAD to be technical) with a specially developed polymer (聚合物), based on an organic semiconductor, which increases overall stability.
That stability is important in material that is out in the sunshine all day. Add the recent efficiency increases in PSCs and you can see why this growing solar technology is becoming more and more commercially attractive.
However, you won’t be able to gaze through a perfectly clear window and get the maximum amount of energy efficiency from it—there’s still a balance to be found between opacity (不透明) and efficiency.
“There is a trade-off,” says Jasieniak. “The solar cells can be made more, or less, transparent. The more transparent they are, the less electricity they generate, so that becomes something for architects to consider.”
Even with this major step forward, it may be some time—maybe as much as 10 years—before the tech can be commercialised and scaled up. The scientists are working with business partners to try and get the solar cells included in future building plans.
“These solar cells mean a big change to the way we think about buildings and the way they function,” says Jasieniak. “Up until now every building has been designed on the assumption that windows are fundamentally passive. Now they will actively produce electricity.”
【1】What advantage do solar cell windows have over rooftop solar?
A.They need less research but lasts longer.
B.They are more efficient in generating electricity.
C.They have a spot of efficiency, stability and cost.
D.They can let light in while generating electricity.
【2】Why do researchers use the polymer in making solar cell windows?
A.To reduce their costs.
B.To make them more stable.
C.To make them look more attractive.
D.To make them more energy efficient.
【3】What can we know about solar cell windows?
A.They won’t be available on the market until 2030.
B.They need give up some efficiency to be more transparent.
C.They will become both more efficient and more transparent.
D.They are considered a favorite building material by architects.
【4】What is Jasieniak’s attitude towards solar cell windows?
A.Supportive.
B.Opposed
C.Doubtful.
D.Uncaring.

33、About five years ago, when the first generation of wearable fitness trackers became popular, they were announced as the _______of a revolution. Health experts and business people alike said that giving people _______ to real-time calorie-burning and step-count data would inspire them to lose weight, eat better and most importantly _______more. But even as the U.S. market for _______ devices hits $7 billion this year, there’s evidence that their promise isn’t quite paying off.
The U.S. has an exercise problem, _______ 28% of Americans aged 50 and over considered wholly _______. That means 31 million adults move no more than is necessary to perform the most basic functions of daily life. Wearables, experts_______, were going to change that. But limited academic research has been done to figure out whether wearables _______people’s behavior in the long term. The research that does exist isn’t _______. For a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers wanted to see whether activity trackers would help overweight people lose more weight over two years than if they just did a weight-loss intervention alone. They didn’t. “We found that just giving people a device doesn’t mean it’s going to ________ something that you think it’s going to lead to,” says John Jakicic, the author of the study, from the University of Pittsburgh. “These activity trackers don’t engage people in strategies that make a ________ in terms of long-term change”
Another new study ________ a different challenge: user ________. By the end of a yearlong study of 800 people, just 10% of participants were still wearing the trackers, according to, Eric Finkelstein, a professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore. “We didn’t find that Fitbits really have much of an effect,” he says. This may well be because people expect trackers to do something they’re not designed to do—________, force them to change their behaviors. “There’s __________among people about their function, a measurement tool and an intervention,” Finkelstein says. A scale counts pounds, for example, ________it won’t teach you how to eat less. “When people put these devices on, they might interact with the app for the first few weeks, maybe the first few months, but there comes a point where that starts to fall off,” says Finkelstein.
To be ________, some of the costlier and higher-tech wearables have features baked into them ________ encourage users to move more, says Shelten Yuen, Fitbit’s vice president of research. Among them are: shaking sensors, movement reminders and social-media combination, all designed to ________ users to make better health choices every day. But more research will be needed to determine whether or not these features or others like them— could ________ improve people’s health and fitness levels.
