二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Over the next few years, we can expect logins to get much less annoying, as all of the major tech players are now on board with a new technology designed to eventually replace the humble password called the “passkey”.

And that could mean that we do away with passwords altogether. The way passkeys work is by turning your phone into something a bit like a wallet, which you can use to store membership cards to all of your apps and services. When you need to log in to a website, you’ll just have to tap a button on your phone and your passkey wallet will flash the right credentials (证件), letting you in without any trouble. And even if you’re logging in to a device that doesn’t have access to your wallet, when you type in your email address, the website will send a message to your phone to check your credentials.

Once passkeys are commonly accepted and widely used, they won’t just save us from having to remember passwords but, perhaps counterintuitively, logging in with a passkey will actually be significantly more secure than typing a password.

This is because it takes advantage of a technology called “public key” cryptography (密码术), which is one of the building blocks of the internet and is how computers have securely communicated with other computers for decades.

With a password, the website has to ultimately contain a database of everyone’s passwords to check against when you login. But with a passkey, when you create your account on a website, it will effectively create a brand new padlock and key. The website will keep the padlock — and only your phone will have the key.

Passkeys are going to make our digital lives even more secure, because they help guard against two common forms of digital attack.

First, it guards against data leak or leakages — situations where hackers or people who try to break into computer systems gain access to a database of passwords.

This is because, unlike most people who repeat their passwords, each passkey is unique. This means that even if the pizza delivery place is hacked, it won’t give away the same password that you use for your emails.

And secondly, passkeys make things much harder for “phishing” scams — when a website tries to trick you into thinking that it is really your bank’s website or similar, it can steal your login details.

These scams will no longer work as well, because passkeys have another mathematical trick up their sleeve: they’re always changing.

When you log in and your digital wallet has to send over an unlock code, the code it sends will only be valid or useful for a few seconds at a time — so even if a hacker does get hold of your key very briefly, 30 seconds later it will turn useless anyway.

So, next time you feel frustrated that you can’t remember your password, don’t worry too much. It won’t always be like this!

【1】What can you do to log in to a device that is inaccessible to your passkey wallet?

A.Tapping a button on your phone.

B.Using a face scan to unlock your passkey wallet.

C.Searching a database of passwords to find the passkey.

D.Checking message concerning the credentials in the email.

【2】The underlined word “counterintuitively” in the third paragraph means ______.

A.in line with what the institution has taught

B.contrary to what common sense would suggest

C.in accordance to what the instinct tells people

D.opposite to what is considered normal behavior

【3】According to the article, why are passkeys safer?

A.Because each passkey is the only one of its kind that guards against data leakages.

B.Because passkey wallet will flash the right credentials without bothering to check memberships cards.

C.Because passkeys can completely get rid of the possibility of login details’ being stolen by hackers.

D.Because “public key” cryptography contains an enormous database of passwords of every website user.

【4】The article is mainly about ______.

    A.the inadaptability of passwords nowadays

B.the distinct features of passkeys nowadays

C.the difference between passkeys and passwords

D.the passkeys’ potential to replace passwords in the future

  • 23、Rainforests are disappearing at a surprisingly fast speed, largely due to human development over the past few centuries. Once covering 14% of land on Earth, rainforests now make up only 6%. Since 1947, the total area of rainforests has probably been reduced by more than half, to about 6.2 to 7.8 million square kilometers.

Many biologists expect rainforests will lose 5-10% of their species every ten years. Rapid deforestation could cause many important rainforest habitats to disappear completely in the next hundred years.

Such rapid habitat loss is due to the fact that 100 acres of rainforest are cleared every minute for agricultural and industrial development. In the Pacific Northwest’s rainforests, logging companies cut down trees for wood used in building while paper industries use the wood for pulp. In the Amazon rainforest, large agricultural industries clear large parts of forests for growing crops. In the Congo rainforest, roads and other infrastructure (基础建设) development have reduced habitat and cut off living areas for many rainforest species. Throughout both the Amazon and Congo, logging operations clear-cut to build roads or for other purposes. Some rainforests are threatened by large hydroelectric power projects. Development is encroaching on rainforest habitats from all sides.

Economic inequalities increase this rapid deforestation. Many rainforests are located in developing countries with economies based on natural resources. Wealthy nations drive need for products, and economic development increases energy use. These needs encourage local governments to develop rainforest at a slow speed. Poor people who live on or near these lands are also motivated to improve their lives by changing forests into farmland.

    A.The demand for numerous products.

    B.The motivation from local governments.

    C.The construction of fundamental facilities.

    D.The cooperation with developing countries.

【3】What does the underlined part “encroaching on” in paragraph 3 mean?

    A.Tearing up.

    B.Relying on.

    C.Holding back.

    D.Benefiting from.

  • 24、   Mixing murals, sculpture and calligraphy, grotto(石窟) temples are historical treasures of ancient Chinese arts, values and spirits. Thousands of people flock to grotto temples each year. 【1】

In October, the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued a notice, urging protection of China's grotto temples. Grotto temple workers are required to do research and determine how many daily visitors they can safely handle.【2】 Visitors are encouraged to visit at different time periods or have virtual experiences related to the cultural heritage sites. These measures are aimed at preserving these relics, as both human and environmental factors have caused harm.

Tourists often touch the sculptures, leading to changes in the surface and color of the figures overtime.【3】And even the most well-behaved tourists can unknowingly cause harm to the relics.  Over many centuries, the ancient rocks that make up these grottoes slowly corrode(腐蚀) due to the acid content of air, water and microorganisms. 【4】 According to a study by the China University of Geosciences, the carbon dioxide that visitors breathe out has made the air more acid. At the Mogao Grottoes in Gansu, researchers also found that microorganisms brought in unintentionally by visitors themselves have also led to changes in color in murals.

【5】 Seeing the grottoes in depth, it will help people better understand Chinese philosophy and humanities from a historical perspective. ” Lu Ji-wen, deputy director of the Yungang Grottoes Re-search Academy, told China News.

    A.Preserving these relics is important.

B.Yet these relics are threatened by visitors.

四、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文

It is sweet to run in beautiful scenery, and sweeter to help others as well as to be helped.

I am not a professional runner, but I love to take part in running races. This is the third time I have done the Berkeley Golden Hills Marathon, which is to celebrate local greatest running legend Dick Collins. In fact the Marathon is divided into two kinds of races — one for the professionals, Hotdog 50 milers and the other, common people. Hotdog 50 milers start at that marathon beginning point at 8am, run to the common ones’ start, get equipped at the aid station there, turn around and marathon it beside us, starting in the park forest.

It is an extremely exciting race — pleasant, beautiful and social. And most of all, it has a really wonderful course—high scenic hills, deep dark forest, broad fire roads, winding single track, high hill climbs, sudden sweeping downs…. A bit of everything.

The beginning of this race was truly memorable as we set off from the chill forest and the tension of the race started to find us winding up exposed fire roads, positively shinning with golden light — I guess that’s where the name ‘Golden Hills’ comes from.

A group of fast men streamed ahead and I ran in the second little group of people which included a red hat man and a red top lady. We climbed up the hill overtaking (超过) each other now and then. And of course, I did my usual overtaking on any downs. Once we overcame the first main hill I stayed ahead of the lady and ran with the red hat guy for some time. But there was no chatting beyond a friendly hello — I had to focus on my breathing.

    注意:

    1.续写词数应为150左右;

    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

And then the fun started — we started meeting the front runners in the 50 milers.
