21、In some snow-covered villages in Altay district of Xinjiang, it’s common in winter to see local herdsmen (牧民) with planks attached to their feet, climb the snowy slopes without any other form of assistance. The pair of planks are wrapped with horsehide (马皮), which serves a double purpose. Remarkably, the horsehide not only can provide friction to prevent skiers from slipping while going up the hills, but also helps them slide more smoothly down the hills.
According to rock carvings uncovered in the area by archaeologists, such skis have served for around 12, 000 years as a means of transportation for the snowfield people of Altay, especially those who had to travel a long way in the snow to herd animals or hunt. The fur skis gradually lost their popularity in recent decades after paved roads linked houses to the outside world. However, in response to the nation’s goal of brightening up grassroots enthusiasm for ice and snow sports, Altay plans to protect and promote its skiing culture and better pass along its skiing tradition to future generations.
Silambek Sakish, 67, a herdsman in the village of Altay, began to learn the craft at the age of 15 from his father. He would cut high-quality pine into a plank and then bend the plank’s front end after the wood was heated in a fire. Wrapping the plank with horsehide was the last step.
Sakish was honored as an heritor of the craft of making fur skis in 2010, which had been assigned as an intangible (非物质) cultural heritage of Xinjiang. His works are exhibited in ski places, airports and train stations across Altay and also at the display center for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to promote the district's deep historical connection to skiing. More young people have come to him to learn the craft, and his youngest son, who is 31, has followed in his footsteps to carry on the tradition.

22、It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than, to open it and remove all doubt.
-Mark Twain
You can have something extremely smart, useful or funny to say, but if you say it at an improper time, you could make yourself look foolish.
Throughout history many famous, noteworthy people have taken Mark Twain's words to heart. These wise people knew when to talk and when to keep silent. Many leaders have to learn when to talk and when to keep silent even when it might be difficult to do so. All leaders must choose their words carefully, picking the right time to speak, so that their words can have the greatest impact.
If you learn to develop this skill of knowing when to hold your tongue, you will also become wise, even if people think you are not. Some people, in fact, will underestimate you because they do not know what you are thinking all the time. This can give you an advantage in many situations. When people underestimate you, they do not focus on you, leaving you to make and perform plans without being noticed.
If you think before you speak, you can also improve your listening skills, which is a very important and useful skill to have. Listening is another key trait(特征)for a leader to have, and it is harder to achieve than many people think. First, you have to be quiet, and then you have to listen attentively, with all your attention on what the person is saying to be a good listener. When you learn to stop and think before you speak and when you learn to become a good listener you will be well on your way to becoming a good leader. By being able to listen to the people that work with you and for you, you will be able to make informed decisions.

24、 During the winter in the Southern Hemisphere, a blue point of light shines overhead. The brilliant point on the sky, which looks like a bright star, is actually two stars in close orbit — accompanied by the closest known black hole to Earth.
The newly discovered black hole is about 1,011 light-years from our solar system in the star system HR 6819. Published today in Astronomy & Astrophysics, the object is locked in an orbit with two visible stars. It is estimated about four times the mass of the sun and about 2,500 light-years closer than the next black hole. “It seems like it’s been hiding in plain sight,” says astronomer Kareem El-Badry, a Ph.D. student at the University of California, Berkeley, who specializes in binary star (双子星) systems but wasn’t involved with the study. “HR 6819 is such a bright star (system) that people have been studying it since the 80s, but it seems like it’s had some surprises.”
“If you find one that is very close to you, and you assume you’re not special, then they must be out there everywhere,” says lead study author Thomas Rivinius, an astronomer at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile. Researchers have long estimated that the Milky Way is home to hundreds of millions of black holes, objects whose gravitational fields (引力场) are so strong, not even light can escape. But finding these dark objects has proven extremely difficult. Dozens of black holes in the galaxy have been spotted “feeding” on nearby clouds of gas — a process that sends out x-rays as the material moves around the edges of the black hole. But the majority of black holes in our galaxy cannot be seen, so the only way to find them is by observing their gravitational effects on surrounding objects.
In follow-up work, researchers led by study co-author Petr Hadrava aim to study the light given off by HR 6819 and understand the precise identity of the two close stars.
【1】What do we know about the newly discovered black hole?
A.It moves with two other stars.
B.It came into being in the 1980s.
C.It weighs much more than earth.
D.It can be seen easily during the winter.
【2】What can we infer from Thomas Rivinius’s words in paragraph 3?
A.Most black holes are common.
B.More black holes can be found.
C.Black holes are difficult to learn.
D.Black holes exist in star systems.
【3】What will scientists probably do next?
A.Learn more about the two close stars.
B.Analyze the light around the black hole.
C.Observe the influence of black holes on stars.
D.Study the black holes in the system of HR 6819.
【4】What is the best title for the text?
A.A New Star System in Universe
B.Two Special Stars in the Same Orbit
C.The Closest Black Hole to the Earth
D.The Biggest Black Hole in the Milky Way

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
We three were running down the path, shouting and laughing when our dog Rubby suddenly stopped in the distance. He turned around, eyeing us, with his tail swinging up and down.
My little brother Toby immediately sped up and rushed to where Rubby was. He bent down and picked up something and ran back to us.
It was a bunch of keys. We gathered in a circle, examining the keys one by one, hoping to find some useful information about its owner. There were 3 keys, a house key, a mail key and a car key and a unique key fob(吊坠), very likely designed specially.
“Gosh, the owner might be in great trouble.” My sister sighed. She was right. We once lost our keys. Although we had an extra house key, it took our parents quite a long time to get a new mail key, let alone there was a car key.
Who might have lost them?
After many wild guesses, we finally drew a conclusion: It might belong to someone in our neighborhood as only our neighbors wandered into the woods for a walk. But it was still impossible to figure out who it was. We had a very big neighborhood.
“The owner might come back to look for them.” Toby reminded.
So we decided to stay where we were, keeping a watchful eye on all passers-by. Our little dog ran in circles of excitement that we stayed so long in the wild. We remained in the woods for two hours, asking everyone we came across whether they lost their keys, but in vain.
It seemed we had to give up. But my sister wouldn’t, saying that she just couldn’t stop picturing the owner brushing aside tall grasses hoping to find the lost keys. “How anxious and upset the owner would be!”
I took a look at the bunch of keys again and quite by accident, found the key fob had the alarm button, “Look! If we press the alarm button, close enough of course, we can set off the owner’s car alarm...”
“That’s brilliant.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右:
