二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   London-based artist Sarah Ezekiel has won international recognition for her vivid, life-filling images. But her work is more remarkable for the fact that she has a medical condition that has left her unable to move her arms.

Ezekiel’s pictures are painstakingly produced, using the movement of her eyes and specialized technology that relays those movements to a computer. The eye-tracking technology gives Ezekiel a platform for artistic expression, otherwise denied by her disease—amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS).

Ezekiel showed no signs of the condition until 2000, when she was aged 34. Pregnant with her second child, she noticed some weakness in her left arm and that she was unable to produce each word clearly. Within months, she was diagnosed with incurable ALS.

Ezekiel describes her first five years living with ALS as “very lonely”. Today, she can neither speak nor move but says “technology has made my life worth living”. She uses a system made by Tobii Dynavox, a company specializing in “Eye Gaze” devices that help people with medical conditions communicate. Its technology adopts projectors, cameras and algorithms to track the tiny movements of the user’s pupils and control a cursor on a screen.

To interview Ezekiel, CNN sent her questions and she prepared her answers letter by letter, using predictive text. The technology also lets her surf the net, shop online and use social media.

Ezekiel, who studied art when she was younger, began painting using the Eye Gaze device in 2012. Her first artwork. Peaceful Warrior, took its title from a book by Dan Millman. “It was originally supposed to illustrate despair, but the finished result had a totally different feel,” she recalls.

“Being an artist because of technology has totally improved my general attitude towards life and opened up many other possibilities for me,” says Ezekiel. I couldn’t create pictures for years and it’s fantastic that technology has made it possible again.

【1】What can we know about Ezekiel’s disease?

A.It inspired her to be a devoted artist.

B.It was totally cured when she was 46.

C.It draws more attention to her works.

D.It stops her from thinking independently.

【2】What does Tobii Dynavox’s system allow Ezekiel to do?

    A.Enjoy her basic online life.

B.Move her body at her own will.

C.Suffer less pain from her disease.

D.Write letters to her baby by hand.

【3】What does the underlined word “it” in the last paragraph probably refer to?

    A.Drawing pictures.

    B.Staying positive.

    C.Using technology.

    D.Being a special artist.

【4】What can be a suitable title for the text?

    A.A Platform Brings Fame

    B.An Artist Paints With Eyes

    C.Art Makes Life Meaningful

    D.A System Wins Much Favor

  • 22、Moscow city authorities have begun using comics with characters from Russian fairytales to explain to migrants how they should behave. They say a 100-page guide is needed to “maintain a positive image” of the city and could help reduce “tensions” between natives and migrants. But some people have pointed out that foreign immigrants and natives may be viewed as antagonists in the manual(手册). They think immigrants and natives should live together in harmony.

Russians and immigrants have repeatedly clashed in Moscow recently. Many immigrants from ex-Soviet republics in Central Asia, the Caucasus and North Caucasus, arrive in Moscow every year, attracted by the capital's job opportunities and relatively high salaries. A significant number of them work in the Russian capital illegally.

The new guide in Russian seeks to explain the “dos” and" don'ts" to immigrants. They are urged not to cause trouble,by staring at women,or eating or talking loudly on the streets. They are also warned that the police may routinely stop them to check their documents.

In the manual,Russia's famous“Three warriors”are meant to represent the city's law enforcement agencies, while Prince Yuri Dolgoruky (a historical character)is used for tours around Moscow. Meanwhile,Vasilisa the Wise and The Snow Maiden test the reader on Russia's language and history. A special section of the book explains the importance of following Moscow's strict residency and employment rules, stressing that immigrants could otherwise be deported(驱逐出境)or banned from entry.

The manual was written primarily for illegal immigrants,Alexander Kalinin, who heads the group Support for Working Migrants in Moscow, told BBC Russian.

“We want to raise their level of law awareness,”he added.

In the beginning immigrants had been identified as representatives of deferent nationalities, but the book's authors later decided to drop this idea so as "not to offend anyone", said Mr. Kalinin.

"The old conflict between Russian heroes and non-Slavic invaders appears again,"

Yevgeny Varshaver, a migration expert told BBC Russian. He also suggested that the language used in the book would be "difficult" to understand for some immigrants who were not native Russian speakers.

【1】The underlined word in Paragraph 1 can probably be replaced by ______ .

    A.strangers

    B.opponents

    C.competitors

    D.acquaintances

【2】People from other countries come to Moscow ______ .

    A.to enjoy the fine climate

    B.to have a new lifestyle

C.to find occupations with good income

    D.to experience a new culture

【3】What can we learn about the manual?

A.It may not make immigrants and natives live in harmony.

B.It is full of funny stories from fairy tales.

C.It aims to protect the rights of locals and immigrants.

D.It sets strict and cruel rules to immigrants.

【4】What can be inferred from the last paragraph?

A.The book will make it easy for foreign immigrants to read.

B.Foreign immigrants may find the manual interesting to read.

C.The Russian language is hard for foreign immigrants to learn.

D.Foreign immigrants may have difficulty reading the manual.

【5】Which of the following would be the best tile of the text?

A.Ways to help foreign immigrants to settle in Russia.

B.More and more foreign immigrants work in Moscow.

C.Moscow fairy tale comics to help immigrants behave.

D.Characters from Russian fairy tales attract public attention.

  • 23、A hospital has been forced to ban Pokemon Go players from the site after a monster hub (妖怪枢纽站) was found in the A&E department. Royal Stoke University Hospital discovered that its casualty unit(急诊室) is on the same spot as a Pokemon Go ‘gym’ —— where players can train their newly caught Nintendo creatures.

The University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust agreed last week that patients can play Pokemon Go on wards because walking around is healthy. But the Trust has been forced to post a warning on its website about public access to A&E. It said if Pokemon Go becomes a major annoyance it would ask Nintendo—— which decides on the locations of the virtual gyms according using GPS——to have it removed from the premises(道馆).

Kevin Parker, associate chief nurse, said, “Members of the public who do not need to be at Royal Stoke should not attempt to enter A&E or any other part of the hospital building to play the game. The A&E department is incredibly busy this summer. We want the public to understand that anybody who visits the hospital solely to play the game will provide an unwanted distraction to the important work of the hospital. I’m also aware of various reports in the media of unsafe areas that the game has been played in.”

“Royal Stoke University Hospital is a safe area where gamers can enjoy Pokemon Go.” Michelle Harris, the Trust’s manager, said the game could still be played by those already in hospital. “We recognize that the Pokemon Go game encourages walking and exercise, which is something that the Trust is equally keen to promote,” she said.

There are a number of “walking routes” established throughout the Trust that can be used to combine walking and playing the game. “Walking just 30 minutes, five times a week, can help reduce the risk of preventable illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.”

There have been several warnings about the game since its UK release. Last week a group of teenagers in Wiltshire were left stranded almost 100ft underground after they got carried away searching for Pokemon Go characters. The four boys, aged 16 and 17, ended up getting lost and had to wait to get a phone signal before they could call for help. Eventually, they contacted Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team, who took them to safety. Damien Bence, of the fire and rescue team, said: “Pokemon Go is obviously leading people into dangerous situations.”

【1】It seems that Pokemon Go is a game______.

A.encouraging players to walk and exercise instead of staying indoors

B.helping cure such diseases as obesity, diabetes and heart disease

C.designed to help patients in hospital recover sooner

D.warning teenagers of the places easy to get lost or attacked

【2】The A&E department is incredibly busy because________.

A.more patients’ arrival increases the workload of the A&E department

B.doctors’ playing the game makes the A&E department less efficient

C.players’ injury increases the workload of the A&E department

D.players’ arrival disturbs the work of the A&E department

    【3】The passage is mainly about________.

A.the popularity of Pokemon Go since its UK release

B.the applications of Pokemon Go in hospitals since its UK release

C.the negative effects of Pokemon Go since its UK release

D.the establishment of Pokemon Go virtual gyms since its UK release

  • 24、The most common forms of live stream marketing

    Online Marketplaces

Online marketplaces like Taobao and Jingdong allow users to buy and sell products without ever leaving their homes. But the addition of live video streaming is proving vital to keep buyers interested. Why? By adding live streaming to the platform, these marketplaces can deliver the closest possible experience to “being there” for online buyers. Real-time interactivity offers the urgency of a real marketplace, urging immediate action and improving community participation.

    Live Auctions (拍卖)

Live streaming opens up the auction items to those unable to physically attend, reaches participants with varying interests and ensures that each item sells at its proper valuation. Online auctions are big business, and real-time video delivery is critical. Whether auctioning off pets or fine art, any delay in a live stream could prevent bids (出价) from being recorded properly. Several milliseconds can translate to billions of dollars.

    Influencer Streaming

Today’s celebrities aren’t necessarily on the big screen. An increasing number of stars rise to fame via social media each day. With a large number of faithful fans, influencers can use their personal brand and the power of live streaming to promote their favorite products in an interactive way. Influencer streaming originated on social media, but has now become commonplace across e-business sites as well.

    Live Events

Newsworthy events, such as product launches and limited edition drops, increase the popularity of live stream marketing. Today, shoppable mobile streaming allows fans to purchase items in real time from the catwalks (T型走秀台) of Louis Vuitton and Victoria’s Secret.

【1】How does live video streaming affect online marketplaces?

    A.It makes goods more popular.

    B.It keeps shop owners interested.

C.It offers a real experience of offline shopping.

D.It makes online shopping more like offline shopping.

【2】What can we know about online auctions?

A.They bring convenience for people physically attending.

B.They make sure that every item can finally be sold online.

C.They make it necessary to have high speed Internet access.

D.They provide opportunities of making great fortune overnight.

【3】Which works as the easiest way for Internet celebrities getting into e-business?

    A.Online Marketplaces.

    B.Influencer Streaming.

    C.Live Auctions.

    D.Live Events.

  • 26、Directions: Read the following passage. Summarize the main idea and the main point(s) of the passage in no more than 60 words. Use your own words as far as possible.

My neighbor’s children love playing hide-and-seek as all children do, but no one imagine that a game they played last week would be reported in the local newspaper.

One afternoon, they were playing in the vacant lot down the corner. Young Paul, who is only five years old, found the perfect place to hide. His sister, Natalie, had shut her eyes and was counting to ten when Paul noticed the storage mail box at the corner and saw that the metal door was standing open. The mailman had just taken out several sacks of mail and had carried them to his truck which was standing at the curb a few feet away. Paul climbed into the storage box and pulled the door closed so hard that it locked. Soon realizing what he had done, he became frightened and started crying. Meanwhile, Natalie was looking for him everywhere but could not find him. It was lucky that she happened to pause at the corner for a minute and heard her brother’s cries.

She immediately ran to tell the mailman who hurried back from his truck to unlock the metal door. Paul was now free, but he had had such a bad scare that he could not stop crying. The mailman, however, soon found a way of making him laugh again. He told him that the next time he wanted to hide in a mail box, he should remember to put a stamp on himself!
