二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、When you’re on holiday, it’s so natural to enjoy the perfect gin moment. You’re sitting on a sunny balcony, enjoying the view and watching the locals. You realize you’ve done it; you’re living la dolce vita — the sweet life.

That’s what the aperitivo hour is all about. This slow and stylish start to the evening begins just before sunset, when Italians of all ages gather for drinks, snacks and friendship. It’s life-affirming. It can become the bridge between the responsibilities of people’s working day and the delights of their dinner. Much magic lies on that bridge.

It’s still a nationwide event in Italy, observed across the generations in humble inns, charming restaurants and trendy rooftop bars. Connoisseurs (鉴赏家) of the aperitivo hour say Florence, Turin and Venice are standard bearers for the tradition, but many agree that Milan is where its heart lies. In truth, aperitivo takes place all across Italy from the northern regions mentioned right through to the impressive Amalfi Coast in southern Italy. Therefore, wherever visitors wander, they will be able to enjoy this elegant tradition. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy it. The conversations and bonding of the aperitivo hour bring new ideas about life.

Many of us have been amazed by an easier-going routine during a fortnight abroad in the summer. As the taxi takes us back to the airport to fly home, we promise ourselves that we will continue to live that way at home, but that ambitious promise seems to get lost somewhere around the luggage carousel (传送带) back in Blighty.

Well, it’s never too late to start. With some travel restrictions still in place, now is the perfect moment to bring the Italian experience to your home. In a way, the events of the past few months have been training us for it. Many of us have been forced to take our foot off the pedal and ease into the slow lane, so there is no simpler time to bring the aperitivo hour into your home.

【1】What does the aperitivo hour refer to?

    A.A relaxing time before dusk.

    B.An enjoyable journey abroad.

C.A free time to connect to the locals.

D.A social period with friends and colleagues.

【2】What do we know about the aperitivo hour?

A.It has different forms in people of different ages.

    B.It is a long-lasting and far-reaching tradition.

C.It aims to reduce people’s pressure of work.

    D.It is widespread but controversial.

【3】What can we infer from Paragraph 4?

A.The trip to the airport is often unforgettable.

B.An easier-going routine has its own disadvantages.

C.We hardly realize our promise of a relaxing lifestyle.

D.Getting back to normal life from vacations is challenging.

【4】What’s the author’s intention of writing the last paragraph?

A.To encourage us to adopt the aperitivo hour at home.

B.To remind us to remember the travel restrictions.

C.To show us the proper ways of killing time.

D.To advise us to stay at home more.

    COMING TO AMERICA (1988)

This movie continues to be a classic. Watching it as a kid, I thought all the characters that Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall played in the movie were extremely funny. But even more than the comedy, I loved the scale of this film — the size of the wedding and the scope of the ceremony with the African dancers. It never feels like a small, cheap movie.

    BRIDESMAIDS (2011)

I remember watching it in the theater and thinking that this will forever change the face of comedy. Not only was it about women, but they weren’t all gorgeous women. Bridesmaids tells a story about five bridesmaids all experiencing different struggles in life. But due to the wedding, they became friends and faced the challenges in life.

    WHEN HARRY MET SALLY (1989)

I fell in love with Nora Ephron after watching this movie. I always go back to it when I write dialogues between two characters who are madly in love with each other, because you’re hard-pressed to find dialogues as sharp as this. It’s basically a master class. It’s still my favorite romantic comedy.

    BIG (1988)

Tom Hanks is incredible, and there are so many funny, lovely moments in it. My favorite scene is when Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia play “Chopsticks” with their feet using the giant piano at FAO Schwarz. It’s really well-written with lots of laughs, but a lot of heart.

【1】What do we know about the film COMING TO AMERICA?

    A.The characters were boring.

B.It was adapted from a classic.

C.The scale of the film was small.

D.It was made on a low budget.

【2】What’s the best choice for appreciating conversations between lovers?

    A.COMING TO AMERICA.

    B.BRIDESMAIDS.

    C.WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.

    D.BIG.

【3】What do these four films have in common?

    A.They are all thrillers.

B.They are all starred by Tom Hanks.

    C.They are all comedies.

D.They are all set in Western America.

    “Aw, isn't it cute?”

That, right there, is the officially accepted response to any animal contact(接触) the world over. Animals are cute. They're there to be photographed, loved, and occasionally fed. But you know what? Not all animals are cute, or lovely, or even nice. Some of them are a real pain in the neck.

When you travel, you come into contact with all sorts of animals you’ve never heard of before. Some of them are amazing creatures that you'll talk about for the rest of your life. Some of them are just annoying. So, at the risk of causing anger among animal lovers around the world, here are some of the world's most annoying animals.

    Vervet monkeys, South Africa

You'll immediately notice two things about Vervet monkeys: they have a bright blue bottom; and they'll steal any food that's not locked in a bank safe. I recently spent some time in South Africa, and watched as monkey after monkey dived in from the trees and stole everyone's food. Get your own food, Vervets! My sandwich was expensive!!

    Kea parrots, New Zealand

I have never seen one of these birds before but from what I've been told they are more annoying than a spoilt kid. From biting the paint off your car doors to stealing people's passports, Keas are probably the most curious, and therefore annoying, animals in the world. And they're New Zealanders. That makes sense!

    Kangaroos, Australia

Another well-known food-stealer, kangaroos are loved by tourists, eaten by Australians, and generally enjoy making trouble for others. Go on a camping trip anywhere in Australia, and watch how long your bags of food last. Turn your back for 15 minutes and the camp will look like thieves have turned the place upside down.

    Grizzly bears, USA

They look pretty cute, grizzly bears. You almost want to go up and give them a hug. Unfortunately, it wouldn't end well. In fact, one of the world's most huggable creatures is also the one most likely to kill you just because it can. Oh, and it'll steal your picnic basket, too.

【1】The author uses the underlined expression “pain in the neck” to suggest .

    A. these animals may bite you on the neck

    B. these animals can cause people a lot of trouble

    C. people should be fearful of these animals

    D. these animals may cause some serious illness

【2】Which of the animals is the most dangerous according to the writer?

    A. Vervet monkeys. B. Grizzly Bears.

    C. Kangaroos.    D. Kea Parrots.

【3】Which of the following is not correct according to the passage?

    A. When people see the cute animals they might take photographs of them.

    B. Sometimes people will feed the cute animals.

    C. Australians eat kangaroos.

    D. Spoilt kids are not annoying at all.
