  • 21、It was a chilly night in winter. A man came home from work late, tired to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door.

"Daddy, how much money do you make each hour?" "If you must know, I make $20 each hour."

"Oh, "the little boy answered, with his head down. He thought for a moment, looked up and said, "Daddy, could you lend me $10?" The father was furious, "If you asked for the money to buy a toy or some other rubbish, then go straight to your room and think about why you are so selfish!"

The little boy went to his room with no words and shut the door. After a short while, the father calmed down, and started to think, "Maybe he really needs to buy something and he didn't really ask for money very often. "So he went to the little boy's room.

"Sorry! Maybe I was too hard on you just now." said the man, "Here's $10."

"Oh, thank you Daddy!" he said happily. Then the boy took out some coins. When the father found that the boy already had money, he got angry again.

"Why do you want more money since you already have some?" the father shouted angrily. "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do." The little boy replied, "Daddy, I have $20 now. Can I buy one hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."

  • 22、   Japanese businessman Katsuo Inoue chose Italy for his summer vacation this year. He enjoyed the views of Florence and Rome-without ever leaving Japan.

Inoue and his wife “flew” to Italy on First Airlines, a company known for entertainment (娱乐),not transportation. The Tokyo-based new company entered the fast growing online tourism early this year as many countries have stopped accepting foreign tourists.

“I often go to other countries on business, but I haven't been to Italy,” Inoue said. "My impression was really good because I got a sense of actually seeing things there. First Airlines even gave us life jackets and oxygen masks(氧气罩)!”

The “passengers” on First Airlines sit in the first — or business-class areas of an airplane model. Workers serve meals and drinks as large screens show passing clouds and other views outside the airplane. The “travelers“ then receive glasses that provide virtual reality(虚拟现实的)tours of places like Paris, New York, Hawaii and Rome.

The country's biggest airline, ANA Holdings, said that the numbers of passengers flying to foreign countries fell by 96 percent since June when Japan has stopped most travel in and out of the country. The International Air Transport Association (lAIA ) and The International Tourism Association (ITA) said last month that international travels wouldn't be able to recover until 2024. But they said the online travels have been growing very fast.

The president, Hiroaki Abe, said, “Since we started our online tour this year, our business has been increasing by 50 percent each month. Most of our customers usually travel to other countries every year and they can now experience some of that here when they are unable to go to the real attractions.”

    A.It provides transportation to tourists.

    B.It is an Italy-based company.

C.It has been in business for many years.

D.It is a new online tourism company.

【2】What does Katsuo Inoue think of his tour?

    A.It is very cool.

    B.It is boring.

    C.It is dangerous.

    D.It is frightening.

【3】Why has online tourism been growing very fast this year?

    A.Customers can have more choices.

B.It is able to provide much better services.

C.It is much cheaper than the traditional travels.

D.People cannot actually travel around this year.

【4】What does the underlined word "we” in the last paragraph refer to?

    A.IATA.

    B.ITA.

    C.First Airlines.

    D.ANA Holdings.

  • 24、If you’ve been thinking about pursuing a Business Management major, then it’s probably safe to assume the business world appeals to you. But beyond that general interest, how can you tell if this is the right course of study for you? Choosing a major or academic program is a serious decision, and you’ll want to be sure your choice aligns with your personality and your vision for your career.

Unfortunately, unless you have supernatural abilities, you can’t really know for certain. But solid research is the next best thing. One solid starting spot would be checking out some of the coursework for Business Management majors to see what your studies would cover. You could also check out more career information about business management to get an idea of potential outcomes. But if you are still on the fence about if this major is a good choice for you, then you’ve come to the right place.

We asked experts in the field to share about the traits that matter most for the career and for Business Management students. One thing that they all emphasize is the ability to be a good listener.

Do you take the time to absorb and process what the people you interact with are actually saying, instead of just waiting for your turn to talk? If so, you’re on the right track. Obviously Business Management students need to understand a variety of subjects as they progress in their academic programs — and strong listening skills will help. But this ability to effectively listen becomes even more valuable when applied to your career.

“Managing is more about listening than it is about telling,” says Dayne Shuda, founder of Ghost Blog Writers. “That’s a shift in thinking for many people. The best managers know that their job is to listen to their team and empower their team to find solutions.” Shuda says good management often comes down to listening, but the skill is rare in the world today.

Is a Business Management degree a natural fit for you? If you are resonating with what is said above, you could really thrive as a Business Management major. This career path can lead you to so many different options and settings, giving you lots of flexibility and control over your own progress.

The next step is to research what enrolling in a program would involve. How long does completing a degree program take? What would you study? To get a closer look at the details, check out Rasmussen College’s Business Management program page.

【1】According to the first paragraph, what is the author’s attitude towards those who consider pursuing business management major?

    A.Positive.

    B.Doubtful.

    C.Cautious.

    D.Negative.

【2】Which are the things you can do to make sure a Business Management major is right for you?

① To learn about the courses that a business management major student would take

② To check out the career information about business management

③ To ask the experts for advice about the important qualities in business management

④ To choose courses that will help understand a variety of subjects

    A.①②④.

    B.①③④.

    C.②③④.

    D.①②③.

B.think actively and effectively about the words in an interaction.
