21、Every time we get on a plane, we’re asked to either turn off our phones or change them to the flight mode—it’s for “safety reasons”.
But according to The Conversation website, having to turn our phones off on a plane is “a service issue, not a safety one”.
When we speak on our phones in the air, they can cause interference to the aircraft’s radios. Pilots can hear this interference in their headphones. “It’s the same noise you’ll be familiar with, if you put your mobile too close to a speaker,” the Mirror noted. “This sound does not affect safety, but is annoying for sure.” Though speaking on a phone during a flight isn’t dangerous, it isn’t still a good idea.
When we make or receive a call on the ground, we connect (连接) to a cell tower that deals with all calls within an 80-kilometer radius (范围). As we move from place to place we are “handed on” to different cell towers.
As US scientist Sven Bilen explains, there shouldn’t be too many “handoffs (信号转移)”; people shouldn’t travel faster than cars and phone users should be close to the ground.
However, during the flight, telephone calls cannot meet any of the conditions above. And even worse, our cellphones would stop working.
But now things are beginning to change. If we still can’t speak during a flight, we can use other phone functions (功能). For example, Airbus A330 of Emirates Airline has in-flight WiFi to make passengers send and receive short messages in the air. In the future, as Bilen points out, it may be possible for air travelers to make and receive calls freely.

22、Even in ancient times, people could realize the importance of dreams and knew that dreams gave meaning to life. Every great achievement is the result of years of dreaming. If a person has a dream and holds on to (坚持)it, he or she will find a way to make it come true.
Children do not have much experience or knowledge. However, they are natural dreamers. We should not laugh at them for being naive. With their rich imagination, they will come up with fantastic dreams. There are a lot of examples in history. Many great men were dreamers when they were children. One such dreamer was Thomas Edison. He was in school for only three months because the teacher thought he was kind of stupid and didn’t want to teach him. But his achievements were greater than everyone else’s in his time. He made 1,093 inventions during his lifetime.
It’s also important for teenagers and young people to have dreams. The world is full of successful teenagers and young people. They have great dreams and their dreams have changed their own lives and even the world. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are the good examples. They have developed technology and brought great progress to humans. Of course, they made money for themselves, too.
Old people should believe that it is never too late to dream and that human mind is never too old to make dreams come true. Colonel Saunders realized his dreams at the age of 67 and set up the biggest fried chicken company(KFC) in the world.
To dream is a wonderful ability and it can lead to wonderful results. Olympic records were broken by players who were brave enough to dream. No one is too young or too old to dream and to make dreams come true.

23、A Chinese spacecraft called Chang’e-4 made the first soft landing on the far side of the moon at 10:26 a. m. on January 3, 2019. It is the first time that a spacecraft has made it. The far side is the part of the moon that always faces away from the Earth.
After it landed on the ground, the spacecraft took the first photo of the “dark side” of the moon, and sent it back to the Earth through the Queqiao relay satellite(中继卫星). The scientists launched the satellite into space in May, 20l8.
“What we know about the far side of the moon is from orbiters(轨道飞行器), from Russia, the US, European countries, China and India,” Andrew Coates, a professor of Physics at University College London, told a reporter.
China sent Chang’e-4 into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in December, 2018. Sending a spacecraft to the far side of the moon isn’t easy, because the far side is covered in craters(环形山). Some of its mountains are higher than Qomolangma, the highest mountain on the Earth.
What’s more, we can’t see the far side because it takes the moon about 28 days to move around the Earth with the same side always facing our planet. Direct communication with the Earth is impossible on the far side of the moon, so communications must go through a communication satellite. That was why scientists launched the Quegiao relay satellite.
【1】What does the underlined word “launched” mean in Chinese?
A.研发
B.改造
C.发射
D.追踪

B.To get information of other relay satellites.
C.To send pictures of space to scientists on the Earth.

【3】What do the last two paragraphs mainly tell us?
A.Why sending a spacecraft to the far side of the moon is difficult.
B.How China sent Chang’e-4 into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
C.The differences between the mountains on the Earth and the mountains on the moon.
D.How the moon travels around the Earth with the same side always facing our planet.

C.What Chang’e-4 did after landing on the far side of the moon.
