六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Maybe nothing tastes as delicious and refreshing (凉爽的) as a cold, juicy, round watermelon on a hot summer day. No wonder this healthy fruit has been enjoyed by humans for thousands of years. But how about trying square watermelons instead of round ones? Sounds fascinating, doesn’t it?

If you have been paying attention to all the exciting news lately, then surely you have seen all the wonderful shapes that watermelons come in these days. There are watermelons that look like Egyptian pyramids, there are special heart shaped watermelons for Valentine’s Day and of course, there are all kinds of round shapes. But did you know that it all started with square watermelons?

Recently, farmers in the southern Japanese town have discovered a technique to grow their watermelons in a square shape. The reason why they’re doing this in Japan is that there is not enough space in refrigerators. They are trying to make watermelons “refrigerator-friendly”.

A round watermelon can take up a lot of room in a refrigerator, and the usual round fruit often sits awkwardly (笨拙地) on refrigerator shelves. Smart Japanese farmers have forced their watermelons to grow into a square shape by putting the watermelon into square, glass cases while the fruit is still growing on the vine (藤). The new kind of square watermelons are so easy to store. You can just stack them up, which means more of them will fit in a container. This save a lot of space and also money on shipping. Also, people can now fit them better in their tiny refrigerators at home and can start buying bigger watermelons.

But these square watermelons come with a high price. Regular watermelons in Japan cost from $15 to $25 each, while each square watermelon costs about $82. Being quite expensive, these watermelons will certainly not be bought by the general public. Maybe people will give them as gifts! But it is also said that there does appear to be a growing U.S. market for watermelons that are more refrigerator-friendly. The industry is seeking for opinions from consumers who do mind size.

【4】While the watermelon is still growing on the vine, farmers put it in a _________.

  • 22、Recording Your Life Online via Vlog

Whether you're a vlogger, a vlog fan or a complete vlogging newcomer, there is no denying that this method of communication has taken the world by storm. But what exactly is a vlog? A vlog is when someone records their life and put it online. Vlogging can be just a hobby or a full-time job. So how do you make a vlog? Let's find out!

    Vlog Process

Once you have a few video ideas, making a vlog can be as easy as taking out a camera and recording yourself. But if you want to have a realistic flow, a video concept and some good clips(片段)to use, there should probably be some research and planning done first. Creating a checklist of things that need to be done can be helpful in the beginning. Next you can start thinking about talking points. You might write some key points or even a whole script. The third step is filming your vlog in clips, bit by bit. Vloggers hardly ever record a 20-minute video straight through without taking a break. After you have all the clips ready on your camera, it's time to upload them onto a laptop and start editing them.

    Vlog Standards

It can be difficult to know how to make a vlog without knowing about the vlog requirements. The three main areas that you want to make sure are working for your vlog are image clarity, audio and copyright, and length. Unsteady or shaky video with copy-righted(受版权保护的)music will definitely combine to create a terrible vlog. Keep a steady hand and use online resources to get some music to pop into your vlog and you're on to a winner. The duration of the vlog depends on how often you post and the amount of content you have. If you put your vlog on the daily, your videos can be a bit shorter. But if you only put it online once every few weeks, it might be a good idea for a longer video. Remember these vlogs are not professional movies, so if you sometimes have shakes of a camera or a bit of bad lighting, people won't mind. It might even be lovely! Humans are not perfect creatures, and neither are your vlogs. Be happy with your current performance and know that even the best vloggers still have room for improvement.

    【1】The article is written for________.

    A.vlog editors

    B.skilled vloggers

    C.vlog critics

    D.vlogging beginners

【2】What is the first step of making a vlog?

A.Come up with some video ideas.

B.Film the vlog in small dips.

C.Do some research and create a to-do list.

D.Think about talking points and topic.

【3】Which is the best vlog according to the article?

A.A short video with clear points.

B.A shaky video with copy-righted music.

C.A one-hour long vlog with only one clip.

D.A video with clear images and copyright free music.

  • 24、   Do you know Venus(金星)? Of the eight planets, Venus is the nearest one to us. Venus was the Roman goddess of love and beauty. In Greek, her name was Aphrodite. Venus and the Earth are almost the same size, and you would weigh almost the same on both planets. If you were 70 pounds on Earth, you would be 63 pounds on Venus. Venus is an "unfriendly" planet. Because of its thick clouds, you can't see the surface(表面). In many ways, Venus is like the Earth. It has active volcanoes (火山), mountains and valleys, too. But Venus is too hot for life. It has the highest temperature of the planets in our solar system, about 480°C. Besides, the Earth lets heat out through volcanoes and hot springs. But Venus lets heat out in a different way. Venus has no moons. Scientists call Venus the Earth's sister planet because Venus and the Earth are almost the same size. For a long time, most scientists thought that Venus probably had plants, animals, and possibly even human beings. However, because Venus is so hot, it is impossible for anything to live there.

1Aphrodite is the goddess of ________ in Greek.

2If you are 60kg on Earth, you will be about ________ on Venus.

C.People can't see it clearly from the outside. D.Anything can't live there.

4Which one is NOT right according to the passage?

A.The Earth and Venus are similar in size.

B.Both the Earth and Venus have active volcanoes.

C.The surface of Venus is much hotter than that of the Earth.

D.Venus has the same way to let heat out as the Earth.

5Which is the best title for the passage?

A.Planets Around Us B.Life on Other Planets C.The Story of Venus D.The Introduction to Venus
