  • 21、On my recent travels in China, I went from the top to the bottom of the country. I was amazed at how different the weather was in different cities. So far I have been freezing cold in Chongli (Hebei province) and Harbin, but much warmer in Shanghai, Guilin, Qingdao and Yangshuo. Each city has a different feel and allows you to experience different things.

In Qingdao we ate seafood, drank beer and even swam in the sea. In Harbin we wore our warmest jackets, ate local sausage and saw the amazing ice and snow sculptures (雪雕). In Chongli we learned how to snowboard (滑雪板)!   Shanghai reminded (提醒) me of a city in Europe or America. There are lots of Western cafes. Guilin was a good place to be during Spring Festival. Fireworks filled the sky and the streets were busy with excited people. I visited the old buildings and walked around a beautiful lake.

But Yangshuo has been my favorite city so far. I could not stop taking photos of the beautiful mountains and the Li River. I rode a bicycle along the Yulong River in the warm sun. I ate strawberries and drank tea from the farms in the mountains.

  • 22、   Shanghai University of Engineering Science has become the first university in China to be covered by a 5G network, the university announced on Tuesday.

Chinese mobile carriers(运营商) are expected to spend 1.2 trillion yuan (US $176.5 billion)on 5G by 2025, 50 percent more than their total 4G investment (投资), Nomura said yesterday. Carriers including China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, are expected to build over 4.9 million 5G base stations by 2025.

5G is a “game - changing " chance for carriers as they can explore new business like smart manufacturing(制造业), super clear video and smart driving, instead of just being a “pipeline " for voice and data services.

China will supply " temporary" 5G licenses in several chosen cities this year. Consumers(消费者)will be able to use the first 5G smart phones and tablet computers in the second half.

But 5G services will become accessible to common consumers later than expected. More work needs to be done to make the 5G industry fully developed, which won't happen until 2020, said UBS recently. New business projects and organizations, rather than common consumers, will enjoy 5G services at first. The first batch of 5G services will be provided for consumers in about 10 cities only.

  • 23、   If you live in the United States, the law says you can't have a full-time job until you are 16 years old. At 14 or 15, you can work part time after school or on weekends, and during summer you can work 40 hours each week. Does all that mean that if you are younger than 14, you can't earn your own money? Of course not! Kids who are between the ages of 10 and 13 can earn money by doing lots of things.

Valerie, 11, told us that she made money by cleaning up other people's yards. Lena, 13, makes money by knitting () dog sweaters and selling them to her neighbors, and Reisa said she had started taking art classes and showing her work to people. People have asked her to draw pictures for them and they pay her for them. Jasmine, 13, writes articles for different magazines!

Earning is learning. By working to earn your own money, you are learning the skills you will need to succeed in life. These skills can include things like getting along with others, using technology and using your time. Some people think that asking for money is a lot easier than earning it; however, when you make your own money, you don't have to depend on someone else. The five dollars that you earn will probably make you feel a lot better in your hand than the twenty dollars you ask for.

1Kids can have full-time jobs at the age of ________ in the USA.

    A.17 B.14 C.13 D.10

2If you are 15 years old, you can't work ________.

C.drawing pictures for others D.knitting dog sweaters and selling them to her neighbors

4According to the passage, which of the following is NOT true?

A.You are learning how to succeed by working in your teens.

B.Kids are encouraged to live independently (独立) in the USA.

C.Earning one's money is better than asking for money from others.

D.Kids don't need to get along with others when making money.

A.parents won't let their children earn their own money

B.it's hard for kids under 14 years old to earn money in the USA

C.kids can learn skills if they try to earn money on their own

D.if kids try to earn money, they won't have enough time to study

The next week, Ana went back to the restaurant and saw Mr. Tate.
