“The Chinese Dream” is a hot topic of these years. Many Chinese young people are inspired by the Chinese Dream. Everyone has their own dreams. 1. They give us courage and confidence to overcome difficulties. Here are some suggestions on how to realize our dreams.
2. 绝不放弃是使我们梦想成真的秘诀。Sometimes we may fail but we can learn from mistakes. Our life is like a long journey which is not all roses. It sometimes has wind and rain. We believe rainbows will appear after storms.
Cooperation (合作) is also necessary. 3. Everyone likes a person who is good at cooperating with others. Besides, in our society many problems can’t be solved by one person alone. Cooperation is becoming one of the most important ways for people to succeed. 4. 它在我们的日常生活中也发挥着重要的作用。
At the same time, we should learn to examine our abilities because it helps us know our advantages and disadvantages as well as get a full control of ourselves. Then we may be confident enough to face challenges.
5. Let’s pull together and take action now. Then, “The Chinese Dream” is sure to be achieved one day.

24、When I spent Christmas away from home in Europe for the first time, I was only 14 and it was absolutely terrible. I am now married and live in the US. So there is little possibility for me to go home for Christmas. Now I am able to get through Christmas with some moments of joy:
First, you are advised to search your area for stores that carry items from your home country or town. Buy food, candles and some other things that mean something to you.
Hold on to the traditions from your home that you think are important even if other people think they are stupid. But keep in mind to be open for new traditions from wherever you might be, because those traditions are as important to those people around you as yours are to you. For me that includes celebrating Christmas on the 24th.
Call, write Christmas cards, buy gifts and mail them to loved ones, just as if you were there. If you try to pretend (假装) as if the holiday doesn't exist, you are just going to make it worse.
Introduce your traditions to your loved ones, especially your kids. It will only enrich their celebration of the holiday to have some unique (独一无二的) traditions in their home. Little by little it will become their tradition and it’s fun for them to try something new.
Find clubs, churches or organizations that are from your home country. Chances are that they will have some celebration with some of your traditions which you can join in.
Food is one of the most important factors in any kind of tradition. Find the recipe (食谱) of that cake your grandmother used and make it your tradition to bake that particular cake.
Call up your parents and get them to send you some of your favorite childhood ornaments (装饰品) for your tree.
Pay attention to new traditions, talk to your family about which ones you want to make your own and stick with them.
If you are far away from home, Christmas can never be the same as you experienced it before, but it is important to remember these traditions while appreciating the new ones. Keep an open mind and find a compromise between old and new traditions.

A. Because people can buy some discounted goods there.
B. Because people can feel less homesick there.

【3】Which of the following statements does the author agree with?
A. It's great for children to have some unique traditions.
B. People should join in all kinds of clubs to celebrate Christmas.
C. People should give up traditions which are stupid in other people's eyes.

Kimberly, 15, Diocesan Girls' School Many students now work part-time during the summer and winter holidays. Some people think students should not work part-time. However, I support the idea. Firstly, working part-time can raise students' self-esteem. Through earning money, students will gain a sense of achievement. Secondly, part-time jobs can provide both training and experience. They will prepare students for their future careers. Part-time work can also teach students about responsibility (责任感). What's more, it allows them to put into practice the skills they have learned in school. However, students must make sure their part-time work does not affect their studies. | Laurence, 15, Tsung Tsin Middle School In my opinion, working part-time is not a good idea. Here is why. During the summer and winter holidays, students should go over what they have learned in school. Working part-time will make them very tired. Students will not be able to focus on their studies. It is very hard to balance studying and working. Compared with students in many other cities, those in Hong Kong have a heavy workload. They should use the little free time they have for relaxation, not work. Some may argue that part-time work helps students learn skills that are not taught in class. Therefore, students should work part-time. I disagree. We study full-time from primary school to university, for only about 15 years. This period of time is very precious. After leaving university, few people go back to school to study full-time. We have so many years ahead of us to learn skills we cannot learn at school. As students, we should just focus on our studies. |
