四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   Friendships can be difficult because often people aren’t as honest and open as they should be. Sometimes, people finally get hurt.

Most problems with friendships come up because people are just too selfish to care about the things that their friends need. They care about their own needs much more, which makes it hard for friendships to work. However, being selfish is part of human nature. A person is put together in order to take care of himself and his own needs, not necessarily those needs of other people. Even though being selfish is something that all humans are born with, it is something that everyone should be against.

The best thing to remember when you are a friend to anyone is that you need to treat your friends the same way that you’d like to be treated (对待). This is wonderful advice for a friendship, because it is really the only way to make sure that you are giving your friends everything you would want to be given in a friendship. Whenever you have a question about how you should treat a friend, it is easy to find an answer simply by asking yourself what you would like your friend to do for you, if he or she is in your shoes.

Even if you’re al ways thinking about how you’d like to be treated, and your friends are too, there are problems that come up from time to time in each friendship, and it is important to understand how to deal with these problems so that you can build stronger and healthier friendships. Problems like friends getting boyfriends or girlfriends and not spending enough time with their friends, or even friends finding new friends and leaving old friends behind are problems that will probably come up with one or more of your friendships. It is important to know how to deal with these friend problems so that you can keep your friends and make new ones. No one wants to have a broken friendship.

1This passage mainly talks about ________.

    A. the importance of friendships

    B. the advantages of friendships

    C. the problems of friendships

    D. the disadvantages of friendships

2According to the writer, problems with friendships may appear when ________.

    A. one is honest B. one is selfish

    C. one is open D. one is kind

3According to the passage, the first and most important thing to be other people’s friend is ________.

    A. to treat your friends as you like to be treated

    B. to give your friends whatever you have

    C. not to hurt your friends’ feelings

    D. not to think of your own need any more

4What’s the purpose of understanding how to deal with friendship problems?

    A. To have a comfortable life.

    B. To build stronger and healthier friendships.

    C. To be treated the way you want.

    D. To get a boyfriend or girlfriend more quickly.

5Where can this article be taken from?

    A. A novel. B. A poster. C. A magazine. D. A report.

  • 25、The willful blindness in hockey toward concussions (头部撞击) has dropped. Hockey Canada has followed the lead of USA Hockey in preventing bodychecking (身体拦截) below age 13. A bad head injury of Sidney Crosby, the hockey's greatest star, opened the eyes of hockey people everywhere. This country's children have been facing similar danger at early ages, and Hockey Canada had to deal with a deep worry in the minds of Canadians to make the rule change. The liking for bodychecking from an early age is part of what makes Canadian hockey what it is.

The change in rules should be taken as a chance to draw special attention to skill development in an environment free of danger.  It may also control the loss of thousands of young players who don't enjoy that environment.

For years, many Canadian hockey parents and coaches have insisted that bodychecking at early ages is necessary to ensure that players can do it safely at older ages. True or not, there may be a safer way to teach hitting than to make younger players pay a price for it in head injuries. When USA Hockey changed its rules for the 2011-2012 season, it also created bodychecking-education programs that will be mandatory (强制的) for all coaches,  including those teaching players in  the pre-checking ages. And it began to encourage more "touch" - without real bodychecking - from 9 to 12. It also made the rules for 13 and up stricter. The USA is trying to show that it's possible to teach hockey protective skills without putting 11 and 12-year-olds in greater danger. It's worth the try.

Hockey Canada has taken serious steps to do away with hits on the head. However, it's hard to change a sports culture so connected with who we are as a country. Too often, bodychecking has been used to try to separate a player from his head rather than from the ball. Children were paying a price for this country's love of the game.

There are always changes in Canada's game, and the change in the bodychecking age sends the clearest message yet to coaches and parents that player safety is paramount (至上的) in the game.

【1】We can tell that the problem of bodychecking in Canada____________.

    A. is controlled strictly

    B. is taken more seriously now

    C. is caused by players' carelessness

    D. is connected with players' interest

【2】What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraph 2?

    A. The safe ways of controlling the loss.

    B. The steps of drawing special attention.

    C. The possible results of changing the rules.

    D. The methods of improving the environment.

【3】What can we learn from the passage?

    A. The USA found a safer way to teach bodychecking.

    B. Bodychecking-education programs in the USA are successful.

    C. Bodychecking is a good way to value players' skills in the USA.

    D. The USA has tried to create an environment of less bodychecking.

【4】What is probably the best title' for this passage?

    A. Which is more important?

    B. How do we change the rules?

    C. Why is hockey a dangerous game?

    D. When should bodychecking be prevented?

  • 26、   You’ve probably never seen a movie quite like this one. Loving Vincent is the world’s first hand-painted animated movie. It is made fully with paintings. Every scene was created using oil paint on canvas(画布). Twelve frames(画面) were painted just to show one second of the movie. It took more than 100 artists seven years to complete it.

The movie has gotten good reviews since it came out on the Chinese mainland on Dec. 8. Its box office  has reached over $20 million(132.43 million yuan) worldwide, according to Variety.

The film tells the story of the final months of famous Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). The story is told through his paintings and the characters in them. It shows his death as being part of a murder mystery, as Hollywood Reporter said.

A young man named Armand Roulin serves as both detective and storyteller. A year after the death of Vincent van Gogh, Armand is instructed by his father, Postman Joseph Roulin, to personally send a letter to Vincent’s brother, Theo. Armand travelled across Europe to the town where Vincent spent his final months. When he finds that Theo has died of a disease shortly after his brother, he visits several important people in Van Gogh’s life to find out the truth behind his death. But each person tells a different story.

There are many examples of the artist’s work in the movie. It shows over 120 of his paintings, such as The Night Café, Wheat field With Crows, and The Starry Night. It’s no wonder Empire Magazine called it “ one of the most beautiful films ”.

五、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 28、   Paintings found on the walls of caves in the Sahara Desert suggest that a few thousand years ago, large quantities of plants grew there and covered the desert floor. Many curious and unusual insects, birds and animals got enough food that allowed them to grow and reproduce. At that time, huge river systems and many oases s1 growing communities (社团, 社区) where a large number of people lived.

Research scientists believe that the land became a desert for several reasons. For centuries people there have wandered from place to place in search of food, water and grazing (吃草) land for their animals. These people have always considered the number of animals they have as a sign of w2. It is considered more important to have 100 sick and starving animals than 15 healthy ones. The large herds () have been allowed to go freely and graze on desert plants and grass. Over time, large sections of land have been left uncovered. B3 overgrazing, these people cut down whatever trees they could find and used them for firewood. The sand was unable to hold on to the great heat of the day, so nighttime temperatures often drop below freezing and n4 was left to hold the soil together.

Scientists have been studying different ways to bring back the green desert. Through research and experiments, they hope to be able to produce plants that will once again support the life there. Huge holes f5 with much water lie under the desert surface. Scientists believe this rainwater simply flew down through the sand over hundreds of years and collected in the big, rocky holding tanks. By making use of the sun's power, scientists in the Sahara have made experiments in which they got huge amount of electricity. This electricity was then used to operate drilling machines and pumps to pull the rainwater from the underground tanks. By drilling the hole one mile deep into the floor of the desert, one machine was able to recover more than 80 gallons of ice-cold water each second, or 288,000 gallons per hour.

Scientists have had some s6 turning this wasteland into useful farmland. Today the desert is dotted with huge wheat fields watered by a system of pipes that carry water from the underground tanks. Farmers have also learnt that plants grow better if seeds are planted next to stones. Studies show that stones provide protection from the sun, allowing seeds to grow in a shady and cool environment. In addition to that, greenhouses have been built to protect plants from the sunshine so that l7 water is needed. Another idea is to grow plants that can live on a diet of salt water, since the ocean is so near to the desert.
