六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、When I was 17, I read about a museum called the McNay. On a sunny Saturday, Sally and I drove over to the museum. She asked, “Do you have the address?” “No, but I’ll recognize it. There was a picture in the magazine.”

    “Oh, stop. There it is!”

The museum was free. We entered, excited. The people sitting in the hall stopped talking and stared at us.

“May I help you?” a man asked. “No,” I said. “We’re fine.” I didn’t want to listen to a tour guide talking about a painting I was not interested in. Sally had gone upstairs. The people in the hall seemed very strange, keeping their eyes on me. “Where do you think you are?” he asked. “The McNay Art Museum!” I answered. He smiled, shaking head. “Sorry, it is on New Braunfels Street.” “Then, what’s this place?” I asked, still confused. “Well, it’s our home.” “What?!” I was shocked. I ran to the staircase and called out, “Sally! Come down immediately!”

“There’re some really good works of art up there.” She stepped down, looking puzzled. I pushed her towards the front door, waving at the family, saying, “Sorry, please forgive us. You have a really nice place.”

The real McNay was wonderful, but we felt nervous the whole time we were there. Van Gogh, Picasso, Da Vinci, Monet... This time, we stayed together, in case anything else unusual happened.

On a sunny day 30 years later, a woman came close to me. “Excuse me, did you ever enter a house, long ago, thinking it was the McNay Museum?”

“Yes... But how do you know?”

“Well, that was my home. I was the teenager sitting at the corner of the hall that day. Before you came over, I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in. My feelings about my home changed after that. I’ve always wanted to thank you.”

【1】Why did the writer refuse the help from the man in the house?

A.She mistook him for a tour guide.

B.She knew more about art than the man.

C.She wondered why people kept eyes on her.

D.She felt nervous when talking to strangers.

【2】Why did the writer describe the real McNay museum in just a few words?

B.She was too angry to spend much time at the real museum.

C.She was still shocked by the event happening in the house.

D.The real museum didn’t have enough artwork to interest her.

【3】What can we learn from the last paragraph?

B.People should spend more time with their family.

C.People would like to educate teenagers at a museum.

【4】How does the writer develop the story?

    A.By showing facts.

    B.By giving examples.

C.By following the order of time.

D.By following the change of people’s words.

  • 22、The next day, I wanted to take a boat across the river to see what was going on over there. Jim came up with a good idea.

“Here, Huck,” he said. “Put it on.” He took out one of the dresses that they got from that old house.

“Why would I wear this?” I asked.

“Because nobody will know you if you wear this.”

That seemed like a good idea to me. Jim pulled that dress over my head and buttoned (扣扣子) it up, and I rolled(卷) my trouser legs up to my knees. Then Jim put a sunbonnet (太阳帽) on my head. Then looked me over carefully.

“Huck, you look just like a girl. Nobody can know you even in the daylight.”

I practiced walking around to get used of it. Jim said I didn’t walk like a girl, and that I should stop lifting my dress up to get to my trouser pockets. I practiced hard. Then when it got dark, I jumped onto the boat.

I crossed over to the side of town. I saw a light burning in an old house. I slipped up and peeked in the window. There was a woman inside, knitting(织毛线) by candlelight.

She was a stranger, which was lucky for me. Although(尽管) I was dressed like a girl, I didn’t want anyone to know my voice. I knocked on the door.

“Come in,” the woman said. So I did.

“Take a chair,” she told me. I sat down next to her.

She looked me over with her shiny eyes. “And what might your name be?”

    B.to make him look funny

B.Because he wanted to get used to wearing a dress.

D.Because he wanted to show whether he looked pretty in a dress.
