Mistakes are great teachers. Success comes to those who are willing to risk making mistakes to achieve their goals and wishes, and who are able to learn from those mistakes. And in order to learn from mistakes you must be willing to pay for them.

Mistakes can be very valuable, but when you try to get others to pay for your mistakes, then you lose the chance to learn from them. When something goes wrong, it’s usually very easy to find someone else’s mistakes, but is that useful ? Of course not.

Much of the value of mistakes comes from the fact that they need to cost that must be paid. The person who learns the most from a mistake is the one who pays the price for that mistake.

When you make a mistake, what you shouldn’t do is to run away from it. You need to accept it because you can learn a lot from it. The mistake has been made, so make the most of it. Pay the price, learn the lesson, and grow that much stronger.

When you make a mistake, don’t look back at it long. Remember the reason for it, and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The present is still in your power. Make full use of your mistakes to achieve your goals and wishes.

Do you know yourself well? If you have to describe yourself to someone else, 【1】 would you say? It can be difficult to see yourself from the outside, but having self-awareness can help you a lot.

    What is self-awareness?

It means hearing your own thoughts and feelings, and understanding how they can influence others around you. If you have self-awareness, you may know that you love playing a musical instrument because you’re good at it and music can make you happy. If you have self-awareness, KFC may never be on your lunch list because nothing there attracts you. In a word, you seldom do things 【2】 your own feelings.

Dr. Tasha Eurich describes self-awareness as “an ability” to know who we are, to see ourselves more 【3】, and to understand how others see us and how we fit into a new environment.

Some 【4】 about it can be listed as follows.

Being self-aware makes you know your likes and dislikes, what you’re good at and what you find difficult. It helps you make better decisions about friendships, schoolwork and even which films to watch. You will gradually start to 【5】 on your own feelings more when making choices. It will certainly make you more confident and get you 【6】 to success.

Besides, being self-aware makes us pay more attention to our own feelings, 【7】 it never means only thinking about yourself and being selfish (自私). Instead, by understanding yourself better, you can know how to communicate better with others and show more respect for them, which results in a better friendship.

    How can we have self-awareness?

A good way to learn about anything is by questioning. Dr. Eurich 【8】 asking yourself questions that start with “What” instead of “Why”. So next time if you don’t understand why you keep arguing with a friend, ask yourself what you disagree with rather than why you are arguing. Finding out what you want leads you to know yourself better.
