26、 The first thing you should know about Nightfood, a new “sleep-friendly” ice cream,is that it's a genius idea. There are certainly still some doubts whether it actually works. But many people have trouble sleeping, and many people love eating ice cream, and the possibility of cookies-and-cream-flavored Ambien (一种助眠药), even though that's not exactly how the product functions,is going to be irresistible to people with sleep problems everywhere.
“Part of me is like,I’m jealous I’m not part of this marketing programme,” said Raj Dasgupta, assistant professor of clinical medicine specializing in sleep at Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. “They knew exactly how to appeal to customers.”
You could eat Nightfood any time of day without feeling sleepy, but the product is designed for sleep because surveys have shown one of the most common times people tuck into a pint of ice cream is at night, probably while watching Netflix. But can junk food really solve your sleep problems? Probably not, Dasgupta said.
The best way to improve your sleep is to practice good sleep hygiene: have a set bedtime and wake time every day, avoid caffeine and screens late at night, and, uh, do not eat within two hours of your bedtime. But our willpower fails us in the face of a “Russian Doll” binge with a pint of mint chocolate chip.
“They know no one is going to listen to this advice,so,might as well cater to (迎合) them,” Dasgupta said. Sugary snacks “are the no-no foods you don’t want someone to eat before bed. If they’re going to eat it anyway,I’d rather they grab the nutritious one rather than the Twinkie or the cupcake.”
And here's the thing: It actually tastes really good. Unlike other “functional” ice creams that boast of higher protein and lower sugar and fat, Nightfood uses real sugar — no alternative .sweeteners. There is milk and cream in it. It has fewer calories than your typical pint, but you would hardly know it from the texture or taste.
Nightfood is not the only sleep-friendly product on the market. There are also several carbonated sleep drinks, including Som and Neuro Sleep. They might help a bit, but Dasgupta cautions that sleep-promoting foods are not a cure-all.
“You’re not just going to start eating this food and get great sleep. There's other things that go into it, too,” like your overall health, stress level and the amount of time you spend aimlessly scrolling through Twitter in bed.

27、Why have so many awards ceremonies appeared recently? Shakespeare never won a prize, nor did Leonardo da Vinci or Adam Smith or Charles Dickens.
It would be possible to say, however, that in the past, scientists and artists could win "patronage" from rich people-a king or a lord would give the artist or scientist money to have them paint their palaces or help them develop new ways of making money. With the change in social systems across the world, this no longer happens. A lot of scientific research is now cither funded by the state or by private companies. Perhaps awards ceremonies are just the most recent face of this process.
However, there is more to it than that. When a film wins an Oscar, many more people will go and see it or buy the DVD. When a writer wins the Nobel prize, many more people buy his books. When a group win the MTV awards, the ceremony is seen by hundreds of thousands of people across the world. The result? The group sell lots more records.
Most awards ceremonies are now sponsored by big organizations or companies. This means that it is not only the person who wins the award who benefits but also the sponsors. The MTV awards, for example, are great for publicising not only music but also MTV itself!
On the surface, it seems to be a "win-win" situation, with everyone being happy, but let me ask you a question-how far do you think that publicity and marketing are winning here, and how much genuine recognition of achievement is taking place?

A.To show great admiration.
B.To provide the background.

【4】What is the writer's attitude towards awards ceremonies?

B.Approving.

29、 Former National Football League player and children’s author Tim Green has added another book to his list of accomplishments: Unstoppable. The book tells the story of a 12 year-old boy named Harrison, who survives life in a cruel lobster-home(寄养家庭)before he finally finds a loving family. Then he settles in and realizes his natural football ability but he loses his leg due to a deadly bone cancer. Unstoppable follows Harrison’s difficult life journey.
Tim Green said he decided to write a novel about a kid facing cancer after watching how his wife fought to survive her own illness. “Her mental and physical toughness were more heroic to me than anything I’d ever seen in the national sports leagues,” Green told TFK.
Green said, he knew he needed to write about a person who struggled through a serious illness. But because the target age for his books is the teen, he needed to tell the story through the eyes of someone of that age. He needed a perfect real story on which to base his book.
When friends introduced Green to Jeffrey Keith, Green knew he had found the right person to help him “capture(捕捉)the heroism that it takes to fight cancer”, Cancer- survivor Jeffrey Keith lost his leg at the age of twelve, but went on to be the goalkeeper and was also the first amputee(被截肢者)to run 3,300 miles across the country.
TFK asked Keith what it felt like to read Unstoppable for the first time. “Tim captured what it felt like for me to go through this experience and battle back, “Keith said.” Tim’s look sends a message to all the kids across the country that are facing challenges and that have nothing to do with cancer; you are all unstoppable, as long as you believe it.”

39、阅读下面短文, 根据其内容写一篇 60 词左右的内容概要。
Before a child starts school, his or her main role models are his or her parent or caregiver. Parents or caregivers with high self-esteem( 自尊) typically model this to the children, who will gradually pick up these ideas. Those who are influenced by negativity(否定性,消极态度), even if the negativity is not towards them, will often take the same way of thinking, leading to low self-esteem in childhood.
Continual praise for a child’s achievements plays a large part in a child’s view of himself or herself. Praising a child for acting as expected or something good often encourages him or her to repeat the same action and forms a sense of self-worth. Empty praise, however, can have the opposite(相反的)effect. A child who is praised for anything will stop believing the words, and the empty praise will have little effect on self-esteem in childhood or possibly a negative effect.
Providing a child with responsibilities based on his or her abilities is also important in the development of self-esteem in childhood. Making a child feel like a helpful member of a family or group, whether at home or school, helps to form a higher sense of confidence in his or her abilities. However, giving a child unfit responsibilities or tasks can do no good to the development of high self-esteem in childhood.
Each person has strengths and weaknesses. A child can build up his or her confidence level when he/she is encouraged to take part in activities ,which can provide him or her with chances to work on weaknesses(缺点) in a helpful environment . Children who are given the opportunities to use their unique skills to help others or improve themselves have higher self-esteem than those who are not given the same chances or who are pushed into activities that they do not enjoy or do not have an ability to do.
