She never knew her biological father, as he abandoned the family months before Demi was born. To make things worse, she experienced kidney dysfunction (肾脏机能障碍) and was cross-eyed.
Her stepfather had troubles of his own. He had to shift from one job to another, which made the family relocate frequently. During this period, her parents were becoming violent and alcoholics. But her marriage with Freddie Moore failed over time and then married Bruce Willis in 1987, with whom she had three daughters.
Her presence in Hollywood skyrocketed ever since. She starred in many A-List movies along with actors Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson. Her second marriage ended in 2000 and then her motives went to community service for a while, but she still took on small acting roles from time to time. 27、My family lived in Triumph, Idaho, the USA an old mining town with a population of 33. All of the kids at my age were boys. People of all ages always looked out for me, but they also brought me some embarrassment.
I was born at home. The doctor overseeing my arrival was a family friend. Dad had then been a soldier serving in the navy and figured we should save some money.
At first, my parents didn't have a name for me. My name on my birth certificate still read Baby Girl. And that's what they called me until was almost 4. When they planned our first train trip to Mexico for vacation, we needed passports which made it easier to come up with a name. My father liked the sound of Picabo, an old Native American settlement in the south. My mother and father agreed on Pieabo.
As child, was afraid of the dark, but it was manageable. Another fear was the Rhode Island Red Each time I went out to the hen house to get eggs, he always pecked(啄) me as if I had stolen the eggs laid by his lover. I began carrying a stick to keep him away. However, he was always following me. Later we became good friends. I also liked playing hide-and-seek with him.
Our house was one of four that stood next to each other on an upper street in town. It was a one- story white cottage with no basement and no foundation, but Dad dug cellar地窖). All of our heat came from a wood-burning stove, where our food was cooked over an open flame. Both of my parents were great cooks.

28、When we first gave our daughters (then 13 and 15 years old) cell phones for emergencies, we made them sign an agreement in which we strictly ruled where and when they could use their phones and even we could check their every text message. However, in less than a year, we lost control of the situation.
There is a terrible reality that almost every teenager sends between 50 to 100 messages a day - some as many as 300, and 70% of teenagers admit hiding their online behavior from parents. According to a study, teenagers need as much sleep or more than they get as children - that's between 9 and 10 hours of sleep a night, but only 20% of them are getting it. When they don't get enough sleep, they perform poorly in school, feel very hungry, are more likely to have flu and are very emotional.
Recently, we adopted a "check in at tuck in" (盖被子时交手机) rule at our house, an idea I learnt from a parenting expert. It is very simple. At bedtime, when we "tuck in" our children for the night, they must "check in" their phones. They will probably bargain like this:
"But I use it for my alarm clock."
"I'll wake you up."
"My friends might need me."
"If there is an emergency, they can call the fixed phone and I'll wake you up."
A few weeks ago, when I drove my younger daughter to a friend's house for a sleepover, she handed me her phone. "I guess I should check this in now, since you won't be there to tuck me in tonight. I'll call you from Ellie's phone if I need you."

Life in space will certainly take some getting used to! But the space station has been designed to keep the astronauts as comfortable as possible—the module(舱) are roomy, bright, and kept at a constant 21℃. It's important the Crew members are comfortable because they'll be busy aboard the station. In a typical workday, crew members will spend 14 hours working and exercising, 1.5 hours preparing and eating meals, and 8.5 hours sleeping. Here are some other fun facts about life aboard the station:
Food
Come mealtime, astronauts will have a special dining kitchen. Space food just keeps getting better—and more like food we enjoy here on Earth. In early space missions, astronauts could eat only freeze-dried food that didn't require any preparation. But the space station is equipped with water, microwave ovens, and refrigerators, allowing the astronauts on board to eat more “normal” types of food, including fruit, vegetables, and ice cream!
Sleep
Each crew member has a private room. With no gravity, they'll need to tie themselves to their beds, or they will float away! That might sound like a strange way to sleep, but astronauts from past space missions report that sleeping in space is actually pretty great!
Exercise
You might not think it, but exercise is even more important on the station than it is on Earth. There is not much gravity in space. Astronauts don't stand up, sit down or walk in space, so their muscles and bones don't have to work much-and this muscle and bone loss can be dangerous back on Earth. To fight this, astronauts on the station will exercise on bike, rowing machines, and other equipment about two hours every day.
Clothing
Astronauts will have to wear special space suits while traveling aboard the U.S. shuttle or Russian rockets. But once they're safe inside the space station, crew members can wear regular clothing. Of course, a specially designed, pressurized space suit is required for space walks. It has to bear flying pieces and protect the astronauts from dramatic(巨大的) temperature changes. It can range from -84℃ in the shadow of the station to 121℃ in the hot sun.
Personal Cleanliness
Simple tasks like brushing your teeth can be challenging in a weightless environment. A little water doesn't flow in a stream-it suspends in a bubble! Astronauts will use a freshwater hose(软管) to take showers , shampoo, and wash off- then a second vacuum hose to suction(吸) off the dirty water. And how do you go to the bathroom in space? With a special “air toilet” that uses flowing air instead of water to dispose of waste.

【3】Why is exercise more important in space than on Earth?
A.It can prevent muscle and bone loss.
B.It can make astronauts feel relaxed in space.
