  • 25、Beijing’s two sessions (会议) are being widely discussed across China. During the sessions, many proposals (提案) and suggestions were put forward. Here are two issues that were discussed during the sessions that might interest you.

    Smartphone ban (禁令)

According to the survey conducted last year, 68.1 percent of Chinese primary and junior high school students have their own smartphones. To keep students from playing with their smartphones in class, some schools have already banned smartphones on campus.

Lei Yanqin, a deputy (代表) of the National People’s Congress (NPC, 全国人民代表大会), suggested that smartphones should be banned at schools nationwide. She said that listening to music and playing games in class not only bother teachers, but also make it difficult for students to concentrate (集中注意力). She added that students might also show off their phones too much.

    Video game rating system (分级制度)

Over 200 million teenagers across China play online games like King of Glory (《王者荣耀》), Guangming Daily reported. With their computers and tablets, teenagers are able to play most online games produced in China and abroad. However, some games have violent (暴力的) or vulgar (粗俗的) content that might not be suitable for young people.

Many NPC deputies suggested that a rating system for online games should be introduced. All games would be put into age groups according to their content. Players would have to give their ID numbers before playing certain games.

1According to the passage, which of the following sentences is TRUE?

    A. Half of Chinese primary and junior high school students have their own smartphones.

  • 26、   The Internet is full of false information. It is important for us all to avoid being fooled by such information. Here are three examples of Internet hoaxes (恶作剧).

On his website, a man by the name of Tony has asked for money to save the life of a pretty little rabbit named Toby that he saved from under his house. A cat must have attacked the rabbit, the man said, so he took it in. He gave Toby loving care and nursed him back to health. There is a very cruel point, however. If the man doesn't receive enough money, he will eat poor little Toby. (Don't worry, thought. Remember, it's just a hoax!)

While the streets of New Orleans, the USA, were still flooded after a terrible hurricane (飓风), a frightening e-mail was sent around the Internet. It included a photograph of a large crocodile (鳄鱼)over five meters long. According to the message, it had been swimming around the flooded city eating people. It was later discovered that the photographs of the crocodile were of one that was caught in the Congo (刚果) years before.

The following e-mail hoax takes in many people. It says that a large British company will pay you to send their e-mail to as many people as possible. For every person that you send the e-mail to, it promises you will receive $5.00; for every person that you send it to that sends it to someone else, you'll get $3.00; and for every third person that receives it, you will be paid $1.00. To make it even more believable, the sender says that at first he thought it was a hoax, but the company soon sent him $800.00.

1How many examples of Internet hoaxes are referred in the passages?

    A.Two B.Three C.Four D.Five

C.The crocodile swam around the flooded city and ate several people.

B.show that anyone can create good Internet hoaxes with some facts

C.explain that, even though they seem false, Internet hoaxes might be true

D.tell people to be careful of Internet hoaxes by giving some examples

  • 27、   You may have wondered why there are fish tanks (at many doctor's and dentist's offices.Actually these medical professionals are trying to keep their working areas less stressful with the help of fish tanks.Because of the soft bubbling (冒泡声) from the fish tanks, their patients are expected to feel less nervous or worried when staying there.

Besides bringing a sense of peace to your indoor space,a fountain can also prevent noises from coming inside.I recently had a small indoor fountain for my workspace.I enjoy the fountain even when I'm not working at home.

If you want to have an indoor fountain too, there are plenty of wonderful ones on sale, which may cost you a lot.You can try making one yourself, using some inexpensive materials, like I did.And you will always keep it around ---- 1,000 doctor's offices can't be wrong about the relaxing effects of running water.

1From the first paragraph,we can learn that ______.
