When children feel tired and angry, they usually need more sleep. We can get our lessons better, and we feel better, too, when we have had plenty of rest. Boys and girls, eight or nine years old, need ten hours of sleep every night. Our bodies need plenty of air when we sleep. If we do not get enough fresh air, we wake up feeling tired. While in bed we must not cover our heads. If we do, our lungs(肺)will not get enough fresh air. If we open our windows at night we can have plenty of fresh air. Cool air is better than warm air. 25、High speed viewing
Whenever a new technology begins to affect society, we hear arguments about the “soulless (没有灵魂的) modern way”, and the “good old days”, when things were slower. Often the older generation complains about the younger one.
This debate heated up again recently when The Beijing News reported that nearly 70 percent of young people in China speed-watch videos and shows online. It can be concluded that today’s youth are so caught up in the fast pace of modern life that they can no longer give something their full attention.
There may be some truth to this, but is it the only truth?
I am one of these so-called speed-watchers. I tend to play South Korean soap operas the 2014 sensation (大热剧) Man From the Stars (《来自星星的你》), for example at 1.5x or 2x speed. The reason is simple. I want to know what the fuss is about and I don’t want to be left out of conversations online and with friends. I also speed-listen to informative audio, like TED talks and lectures, with the only purpose of taking in as much information as possible.
But there are films and podcasts that have my full attention-and they will have it. When watching the likes of Downton Abbey (《唐顿庄园》) or Game of Thrones (《权利的游戏》), to name two, I won’t skim past even a second of the action. Every long pause and change of emotion carries meaning that would be lost by speed-watching.
So perhaps the debate shouldn’t be about which one is better-the fast life or the slow one. Instead, it’s about understanding what’s really important to you and taking control of the time you want to spend on it.
“This is the future of how we will appreciate television and movies,” wrote reporter Jeff Guo on The Washington Post. “We will watch videos in new ways using our powers of time manipulation (控制). We will be watching on our own terms.”
Indeed, there is no fast or slow there is only your own terms, and your own pace.
【1】What can we conclude from what The Beijing News reported?
A.The older generation is afraid of new technology.
B.The older generation loves looking back at the good old days.
C.Young Chinese people like to watch videos at faster speeds.
D.Young people are more likely to be happy with their lives.

A.To complain about the quality of recent TV series.
B.To stress the importance of common interests with friends.
C.To tell readers what she thinks a good TV product is like.
D.To share how she chooses different speeds to watch videos.
【3】Which of the following would the author probably agree with?
A.Slow down to enjoy life.
B.Live life at your own pace.
C.Follow most people’s lifestyle.
D.Hurry up to take in as much as you can.
26、 Tea, coffee and cocoa are three major drinks all over the world. Tea is drunk by the largest number of people in the world. Tea began to be known by the world over a thousand years ago and has been an important Chinese export since then. Tea has a history of over 4,000 years and China is the home of tea. In ancient China, tea was used as a kind of medicine, while today people drink tea every day.
Longjing, Puer, Wulong and Tieguanyin are all famous tea. Thanks to the weather and rich soil in Fujian, Zhejiang and Yunnan, tea is mainly produced in these provinces.
The word for tea in different languages came from Chinese, like “cha’i” in Russian. And the Japanese character for tea is written exactly the same as it is in Chinese.
Over the past centuries, Chinese people have developed their tea culture, includes tea planting, tea leaf picking, tea drinking and so on. Tea is also popular in some old sayings, like “A friendship between gentlemen is like a cup of tea”.

27、For most people, the word “fashion” means “clothes”. But people may ask the question, “What clothes are in fashion?” And they use the adjective “fashionable” in the same way: “She was wearing a fashionable coat. His shirt was really a fashionable colour.”
But of course there are fashions in many things, not only in clothes. There are fashions in holidays, in restaurants, in films and books. There are even fashions in school subjects, jobs…and in languages. Fashions change as time goes. If you look at pictures of people or things from the past, you will see that fashions have always changed. An English house of 1750 was different from one of 1650. A fashionable man in 1780 looked very different from his grandson in 1860.
Today fashions change very quickly. Some of this is natural. We hear about things much more quickly than in the past. Newspaper, radios, telephones and television send information from one country to another in a few hours.
New fashions mean that people will buy new things, so you see there is money in fashion.
