四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Recently, Beyond the Clouds (《我本是高山》), a film about Zhang Guimei, a rural (乡村的) teacher in Huaping county, Lijiang, Yunnan province, has greatly touched many people’s hearts.

About 20 years ago, while on the way to visit a student’s house, Zhang noticed a girl sitting on the hillside. The girl, 13, told Zhang she was about to get married. It was arranged by her parents. “But I want to go to school,” the girl said. Zhang went to her house and tried to persuade her parents to let the girl return to school and promised to pay for her tuition (学费) herself. However, they didn’t agree.

“We always say, each child should stand on the same starting line, but these girls didn’t even have a chance to get on the track (跑道),” she told Xinhua News Agency.

After that, Zhang Guimei made her mind to build a free high school for girls, aiming to help break the cycle that saw girls drop out of education, marry early and spend their whole life in the deep mountains. After years trying to raise money, in 2008, Huaping High School for Girls, a free public high school, was founded at the foot of the Shizi Mountain in Huaping, where Zhang is the headmaster.

More than 1,800 graduates from Huaping High School for Girls have gone to the college, which is an amazing achievement in the deep mountain area. Zhang also says a girl can influence three generations (代), and she wants more girls from the mountains to attend the best universities.

Zhang Guimei has lighted the hopes of many girls. “I was built to be a mountain not a creek (溪流), rising to the high peaks with the small valleys at my feet. I was born to be great, not worthless, standing on the shoulders of the giants, the petty cowards (懦夫) beneath me.” That is the promise that every student there makes to themselves.

  • 25、   New rules and behaviour standards (行为规范) for middle school students came out in March.Middle school is going to use a new way to decide who the top students are. The best students won't only have high marks. They will also be kids who don't dye () their hair, smoke or drink. Here are some of the new rules.

Tell the truth. Have you ever copied someone else's work on an exam? Don't do it again! That's not honest. If you have played computer games for two hours in your room, don't tell your parents that you have done homework.

Do more at school. Good students love animals and care for other people. April is Bird-Loving Month in our country. Is your school doing anything to celebrate? You should join! That way, you can learn more about animals and how to protect them. Have you ever quarreled(吵架)with your teammates when your basketball team lost? Only working together can make your team stronger. Be friendly to the people you are with. Try to think of others, not only yourself.

Be open to new ideas. Have you ever thought that people could live on the moon? Perhaps you'll discover(发现) Earth II someday. Don't look down at anyone. Everyone's ideas are important. You should welcome them, because new ideas make life better for everyone.

Protect yourself. Has someone ever taken money from one of your classmates? Don't let it happen to you. If you have to go home late, you should let your parents know.

Use the Internet carefully. The Internet can be very useful for your studies. But somethings on the Internet aren't for kids(小孩子), so try to look at Web pages that are good for you. You can use the Web for fun or homework.

1The school new rules will help kids by telling them________.

C.what is right and what is wrong D.how they can protect themselves

2According to the passage, which of the following is not true?

  • 26、

Star Wars fans would be familiar (熟悉的) with the good relationship between humans and robots in the movies. In the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lando Calrissian risked his life to help his partner, a female robot L3-37. In real life, a humanoid robot (仿真机器人), Sophia, has been given citizenship (公民身份) in Saudi Arabia recently. Here comes the problem: should robots be seen as similar humans? As for me, I believe it is necessary to consider giving robots certain rights that humans enjoy.

② Experts have argued that since robots have had human-like qualities, it is time to consider if they should have rights just as humans. Sophia has a human-like face and uses artificial intelligence (人工智能) to reply to speech and express feelings. For such a lifelike being that is possibly able to express feelings, isn’t it worth getting the right to be loved and respected?

③ Robots should also be given protection as harming a robot may be similar to harming humans. Since people like to depend on social robots, it becomes possible for companies to control the hardware (硬件) and software to develop this attachment (依附). There is a danger that data (数据) which is stored in the robot could be uploaded to the cloud. This may increase the information risk. So it is clear that robots should be protected, just as humans.

④ An even more important reason to give human rights to the robots is the protection of social values. We should stop a young child from kicking or breaking up a toy robot not because it is an expensive toy, but more importantly because the robot is similar to a real life. Giving robots certain rights will make sure that social standards are accepted.

⑤ Still, many people have argued that no matter how skilled they may be, robots are still machines. As a result, it is quite stupid to treat them as humans and give them rights. However, with the development of technology, it is a matter of time before robots are fully anthropomorphized (赋予人的特征), and we would have to consider giving them rights.

⑥ In conclusion, deciding whether robots can get human rights is not an easy task, but now it’s time to start the conversation on this and seriously consider the possibility.

【1】Why does the writer mention the two examples in the first paragraph?

A.To remind the readers of the importance of robots.

B.To make the readers think about a problem about robots.

C.To recommend the readers to watch films about robots.

D.To describe the relationship between humans and robots.

【2】What’s the main idea of Paragraph 3?

A.Robots should be protected as humans.

    B.There is possible information risk

C.Humans are doing harm to robots

D.Robots should be loved and respected.

【3】What’s the correct structure (结构) of this passage?

    A.①……②③……④⑤⑥

    B.①……②③④⑤……⑥

    C.①②……③④⑤……⑥

    D.①……②③④……⑤⑥

【4】How does the writer feel about giving robots human rights?

    A.He doubts about it.

    B.He disagrees about it.

    C.He shows support for it.

D.He pays no attention to it.

【5】The passage is written in a (an) ________ tone (语气).

    A.angry

    B.humorous

    C.sad

    D.serious

  • 27、   Have you ever wondered what an American high school is really like? A typical American high school has several large buildings and enough space for about 1, 500 students. Every student is given a locker (锁柜). When students first arrive at school, they go straight to their lockers to get their textbooks and to hang up their outdoor clothes.

Each day, students take six or seven classes. They must take science, math, English and social studies. They can choose art, homemaking, clothes making and other classes. In some schools, students are required to take one or more of the following special classes: health education, physical education or foreign language studies. Students move to different classrooms for each subject. This is because each teacher has their own classroom. There is a five-minute break between classes to give the students the time to hurry to their next class.

The school day usually ends early in the afternoon. After school, more than half of the students take part in after-school activities. These activities include sports-especially football, basketball, baseball and soccer or clubs, such as yearbook, speech, school newspaper, photography or student government.

1What do American high school students do first when they arrive at school?

A.Get their textbooks. B.Put on their outdoor clothes.

C.Go to the classroom. D.Do sports.

    2What subjects must students study?

A.Homemaking and clothes making. B.Science and math.

C.Physical education and health education. D.Art and English.

3What do most students do after school?

A.Take special classes. B.Do their homework.

    C.Take part in after-school activities. D.Go home.
