26、Texting long messages can be a pain in the neck. The repetitive action of working your fingers across the keyboard of your cell phone can cause some of the same chronic (慢性的) pain problems previously limited to those who’d spent a lifetime typing.
The possible connection is particularly worrying considering how much teens and young adults — and increasingly those in professional settings — are texting nowadays, said Judith Gold, who carried out one of the first studies on the potential connection.
Text messaging is a fairly new technology, Gold says, so this is a new area of research for those who study ergonomics (人类工程学). But “considering the similarities in body position, findings from research on overuse injuries from computers could be applicable” to texting.
“The way the body is positioned for texting – fixed shoulders and back with rapidly moving fingers – is similar to the position for typing on a computer,” Gold explained. Previous research has found pain in the elbow connected with too much thumb texting.
To look for a broader link between texting and chronic pain, Gold and her colleagues sent a questionnaire to 138 college students, asking them to report the number of text messages they sent per day (in four categories: 0, 1-10, 11-20, 21+ messages) and to point out any discomfort they felt on a body map.
The research showed an association between the number of text messages sent per day and shoulder discomfort. The effect seemed to be particularly pronounced in males, though Gold says she doesn’t know why that would be.
“What we’ve seen so far is very similar to what we see with office workers who’ve spent most of their time at a computer,” Gold said. However, Gold’s study did not take account of the amount of time the people surveyed also spent typing on computers, which could be affecting the results.

28、Evaluating Sources of Health Information
Making good choices about your own health requires reasonable evaluation. 【1】 It includes knowing where and how to find relevant information, how to separate fact from opinion, how to recognize poor reasoning, and how to analyze information and the reliability of sources. The following suggestions can help you sort through the health information you receive from common sources.
【2】 Media reports often simplify the results of medical research. Find out for yourself what a study really reported, and determine whether it was based on good science. Think about the type of study. And examine the findings of the original research.
Watch for misleading language. Some studies will find that a behavior “contributes to” or is “associated with” an outcome; this does not mean that a certain cause must lead to a certain result. Be aware that information may also be incorrectly explained by an author’s point of view.【3】
Use your common sense. If a report seems too good to be true, probably it is.【4】 The goal of an advertisement is to sell you something, Evaluate “scientific” statements carefully, and be aware of quackery (江湖骗术).
Make choices that are right for you. Friends and family members can be a great source of ideas and inspiration.【5】
Developing the ability to evaluate reasonably and independently about health problems will serve you well throughout your life.
A.Go to the original source.
B.Believe in the mass media.
C.Be sure to work through the relevant questions.
D.Be especially careful of information contained in advertisements.
E.Carefully read or listen to information in order to fully understand it.
F.However, each of us needs to find a healthy lifestyle that works for us.
G.A key step in bettering your evaluation ability is to study your sources of health information.
29、 Director Zhang Yimou’s first espionage movie, Cliff Walkers, has soared as one of the blockbusters (轰动) during the May Day holiday. Set in the Japanese-occupied puppet state in the early 1930s, the story follows four Soviet Union-trained Chinese agents attempting to sneak into Harbin to rescue an escapee from a camp where the Japanese are conducting lethal experiments on prisoners.
Scriptwriter Quan Yongxian says the story is sort of a loose prequel (前传) of his 2012 TV series The Brink, about a couple of heroic underground Communist Party members. Quan, a native in Heilongjiang province, says he has a strong personal interest in the wartime history of northeastern China and how people there resisted the Japanese invaders.
One of the survivors—who died on the battlefield fighting the Japanese two years later—was the inspiration for the film’s plot. Quan wanted to mark those lesser-known heroes.
China’s revolutionary titles are mostly produced by Chinese mainland companies, but Cliff Walkers attracted the attention of the Hong Kong studio Emperor Motion Pictures, which is one of its main producers and will handle the movie’s international distribution. Alex Yeung, vice-chairman of Emperor Motion Pictures and the movie’s producer, recalls his father Albert Yeung met with director Zhang Yimou for the first time in June 2018.
Admitting that the film has also enriched his knowledge about China’s revolutionary martyrs (烈士), Alex Yeung says: “I felt quite overwhelmed when I heard this story for the first time. That generation was dedicated. They were the true nameless heroes who contributed to build a safe and harmonious society and deserved to be remembered.”

【3】What does the underlined word in paragraph 1 mean?

C.He encouraged people to build a safe and harmonious society.
