26、Once upon a time, there was a farmer with foresight and wit. The story of his resourcefulness is still widely publicized. The most wonderful one is the story of how he once played tricks on the devil.
One day, the farmer worked in the field all day. When it was dark, he was preparing to go home. Suddenly, he found a pile of coal burning in his field. He was very surprised, so he went up to have a look and found a little black devil walking on the burning pile of coal. “Are you sitting on the treasure?” Asked the farmer. “It’s the treasure.” The devil replied, “and more than you’ve seen in your life!” “If the treasure is in my field, it belongs to me.” Said the farmer. “It’s yours!” The devil said, “as long as you are willing to give me half of the harvest in two years. I have plenty of money, but I prefer the fruit on the ground.” The farmer agreed to the deal and said, “in order to avoid disputes in our distribution, everything on the soil belongs to you and everything under the soil belongs to me.” The devil was satisfied, but the clever farmer planted carrots.
Now the harvest season has come, and the devil has come again, asking for his harvest. But he got nothing except those withered and yellow leaves; But the farmer was happily digging his radish. “You took advantage of it this time,” said the devil. “You can’t do it next time. The ground belongs to you and the underground belongs to me.” “Whatever you want.” The farmer replied. It’s time to sow again. This time, instead of sowing radishes, he planted wheat. When the wheat was ripe, he came to the field and cut the straw to the ground. The devil came again. Seeing that he got nothing except stubble, he turned around and walked along the stone crack. “That’s how I tricked the devil.” With that, the farmer quickly picked up the treasure and went home.

27、Salvador Dali wasn’t exactly modest. And he’ll tell you so, too, face to face at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. Here, the Spanish surrealist is alive and well, ready to talk to you in person about his art.
Well, sort of. This Dali is brought to life through the magic of artificial intelligence. It’s a newly opened exhibition called “Dali lives”, and it is more than 2,000 Dali works in about 20,000 square feet of exhibit space. Three video boards showing a life-size Dali, standing 5’8’’tall, form the exhibit — one at the museum gate, one on the third floor by the main exhibits (including Dali’s paintings and photographs, two technologically treated paintings allowing visitors to put themselves inside the paintings, and a special experience of “walking” through Dali’s 1934 painting “Archaeological Reminiscence of Millet’s Angelus”) and one in the gift shop on the way out. Each one offers a different experience when you push a doorbell on the board to get Dali’s attention.
The most surprising thing about “Dali Lives” is that you’re dealing with a version of the artist himself. It looks like Dali, it sounds like Dali, it is Dali. The museum worked together with the San Francisco advertising agency Goodby Silvrstein&Partners to achieve this, feeding hundreds of new interviews and words from his written works into an artificial intelligence system to recreate the artist. The result was a living, moving version of Dali ready to converse with anyone there, answering their questions.
“Dali himself was at the forefront of technology and was always experimenting with and trying new things,” says Beth Bell, marketing director at the Dali Museum. “we think he would have loved these types of things. It’s in the spirit of Dali himself.

28、Skateboarding has been my life since I was eight years old. Before I knew how to stand up, I would sit on my cousin's old board and roll down the hills of Caceres, my hometown in Spain. When I was at university, I heard about Skate-Aid, an organization that builds skate parks for children in disadvantaged communities. I've always wanted to make a positive impact on the world, and if there was a way to do that through skateboarding, I was in.
Every project was different. In Rwanda and Kenya, I worked with orphans and children from very poor backgrounds. In Namibia, I taught kids who were visually impaired. Part of the reason skateboarding is good for kids psychologically is that it is challenging. If you want to learn a new trick, you have to practice. And if you persevere, you'll get there.
The latest project was in Qudsaya, Syria. As we reached the city, the scars from wars were everywhere. And the area where we were building the skatepark had been largely destroyed, except for a small concrete structure where a family of four was living. The mother was so welcoming, bringing us tea and coffee every morning before she even knew why we were there.
It took our group 28 days to build the park. Most people didn't understand what we were doing at first — this was going to be Syria's first skatepark. But once we showed them videos of our other projects, they wanted to help.
We stayed in a house close to the park, and on the walk home from work we would buy something from nearby shops. Someone would always start speaking to us in French, Italian or German, because many locals had family abroad. The first time we went in, they wouldn't let us pay. No tourists had been to the city in years and they were grateful we were there.
The kids nearby would watch us skating down the street and were so excited. When we finished the park, I put them on a board one by one and they were amazed by the feeling of rolling along.
We stayed for two months, and then local volunteers took over. When we left, there were 400 children involved, going to the park every day. Now I still keep in touch with the kids on Facebook and they send me videos of the tricks they've learned. I’ve been to so many countries, but Syria is special. I’ll go back if I get a chance.

32、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
David is a good middle school teacher. When I first met him, I asked him what encouraged him to teach. David smiled. And he told me a story.
When he was young, like many young boys, David was fond of throwing stones. One afternoon, he discovered, that if he threw stones over his neighbor’s fence, he could create a crashing sound — the sound of breaking glass. So he would throw a stone and wait for the sound. David felt fun at that moment, but then he did get caught.
The man who lived next door came to his house and told his parents about the boy and the stones. “I would like David to come to my home so I can show him a few things,” the man said. His parents, sorry for that and disappointed by their son’s behavior, sent their son to the neighbor’s house. David followed the man into his house, through the back door, and out into the yard. There, next to the fence, was a greenhouse. The neighbor led David into the greenhouse, and David imagined all kinds of punishments. What was the man going to do with him?
As he led David down the rows of plants, the man began talking about flowers. He walked slowly, showing him each one and explaining what he loved about them. He said, “There are my gladioli (剑兰); they can get quite large and bloom (开花) in many colors. There are violets; they are my wife’s favorite. When I see them, I remember her, and miss her. In the deep purple, she lives in my eyes. And these orchids, right here, are very difficult to grow. But when they bloom, they create the most beautiful shape. You cannot believe until you see with your own eyes how a flower can be so beautiful.”
Para1:
David was surprised.
