六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、All living things on the earth need other living things to live with. Nothing lives alone. Sometimes one living thing kills another to live, so they form a food chain.

Plants make food from sunlight, water, air and so on, while some animals feed on (以…为生) plants directly. For example, locusts (蝗虫) are small insects. Millions and millions of locusts in a group can eat anything that is green, including a lot of food that people need. In India, locusts have ever destroyed (破坏) many fields of crops. However, locusts can be food for birds, chickens, ducks or other living things, even humans.

Humans are at the top of the food chain, they eat not only locusts, but also birds, chickens, ducks or many other plants and animals. They are members of many food chains, but they often break up the food chains.

Each form of life is linked (有…联系) to all the others. Breaking the links puts all lives in danger. Humans should share the world with other living things in peace.

【1】No living things can live alone.

【2】Some animals eat plans directly to live.

【3】Locusts don’t eat food that people need.

【4】Humans hardly ever break up the food chains.

【5】It’s dangerous for humans to break up the food chains.

  • 22、Hotels are no longer the first or the only choice for travelers in China to sleep in at night. A new type of accommodation(住宿)choice called bed-and-breakfast(B&B)is welcoming more visitors in China.

During this month’s Golden Week, bookings for the B&B in China grew by 400 percent from 2016, according to the B&B booking website tujia.com.

Starting in Europe, B&B is often a private family home. Travellers pay to stay overnight and have breakfast. In China, many B&Bs are in rural(农村的)areas and more about fun, experiences and new friendships, reported by China Daily.

“The meals are cooked by the host. Very often, vegetables are homegrown. Hosts and guests chat over the meal and play with the pets together,” Yu Minliang, a 23-year-old tourist from Shanghai, told China Daily.

However, as more B&Bs come out, the service sometimes may not be good enough. Some guests complained the soundproofing(隔音)was bad and the house was dirty.

To solve the problem, the first national industry standards were carried out on Oct.1. For example, every B&B should provide not more than 14 guest rooms and things like towels and sheets must be changed after every visitor.

The standards will help the B&B industry develop in a healthy and sustainable(可持续的)way, reported CNR(中国广播网).

A.A new way of welcoming visitors in Europe.

B.A new type of sleeping at night in China.

A.Cook meals and grow some vegetables.

B.Sleep at night and have breakfast.

    A.Changing towels and sheets.

B.Providing not more than 14 guest rooms.

D.people will no longer choose B&Bs to live

  • 23、   The locusts(蝗虫) in East Africa continue plaguing(造成麻烦) Asian countries such as Pakistan after they “visited” Qatar,Kuwaitand Bahrain.

On Thursday,it's reported that China will send an army of 100,000 ducks to Pakistan to help eat out the locusts there. By Thursday noon, the 100,000 ducks ready to eat locusts in Pakistan has been one of the hottest topics of Sina Weibo.

There has been much discussion on domestic social media(国内社交媒体) networks about the problem.Besides ducks, many also suggest sending hens, while some make it further by suggesting catching the locusts,to cook and eat them.

The hen and duck strategy was used in 2000 when Xinjiang suffered its worst locust plague. An army of about 700,000 hens, roosters and ducks were transported from Zhejiang Province to Xinjiang and helped defeat the locusts quickly.

However, neither the duck nor hen strategy can always be useful. Hens and ducks are good at picking locusts and eating them, but this time the locusts from Africa are mostly grown-up ones that can fly up to 2,000 meters in the sky. It is unrealistic to expect hens or ducks to eat all the locusts alone.

The best way of controlling a locust plague lies in the preventive(预防的) stage. One opinion among scientists is that the locust plague this year has much to do with the EI Nino effect of 2019,which caused heavier rainfall in East Africa, which in turn resulted in more locust eggs hatching.

The same effect caused droughts(干旱) in Australia and South America, which is an important reason why the wildfires in Australia have been so bad.It might be old talk, but it really is time to control climate change.

1Which animal isn't mentioned in the passage?

    A.Hen. B.Rooster. C.Duck. D.Turkey.

2What have been one of the hottest topics of Sina Weibo?

A.The locusts have “visited” Qatar,Kuwait, and Bahrain.

B.The 100000 ducks are ready to eat locusts in Pakistan.

C.The locusts in East Africa continue plaguing Asian countries.

D.Africa would send a lot of army men to Pakistan on Thursday.

3What other advice do people have to control a locust plague according to the passage?

    A.Sending roosters to Pakistan.

B.Making less discussion about the problem.

C.Catching the locuststo cook and eat them.

D.Using domestic social media to solve the problem.

4What does the underlined word “It” refer to according to the passage?

    A.The hen and duck strategy.

    B.Picking locusts by humans.

C.Flying up to 2,000 meters to catch locusts.

    D.Controlling a locust plague.

5What plague did the climate change cause in 2019?

    A.Rainfall in East Asia.

    B.Droughts in North America.

    C.The wildfires in New Zealand.

    D.More locusts in East Africa.
