六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Have you ever been to Berlin? I paid a visit to it for five days and enjoyed a happy time. Berlin is a big city. In order to make my travel easy,   I divided the city into some areas, and then traveled from area to area. It is a great place for a bike ride instead of walking around. It provides a fast and easy way to move around Berlin, and costs around 9 Euros per day to rent.

If you really want to enjoy walking, there is also a free walking tour. It begins at the Brandenburg Gate and lasts 3.5 hours. It took me through the center of the city, showed me all the highlights(重要的部分)and gave me some history about the city. For me, one of the most important things is to enjoy the local delicious food. We can judge(判断)a city on how cheap it is by the food, and the food in Berlin is very cheap. And not just street food, even the restaurants there are a bargain. You can find a lot of meals for less than 5 Euros. Here is a truth for you—the lemons(柠檬)and the fresh vegetables are mouth-watering.

After this visit, I enjoy Berlin more. Though I may not ever live there, I’d happily go back and visit—over and over again.

  • 22、Have you ever jumped on a trampoline (蹦床)? Today many people use it for exercise.

Back in the 1980s, researchers found that jumping on a trampoline was a good way to help astronauts regain their strength. Actually, trampolining has many advantages. It helps bones and muscles grow and improves your balance by stimulating the inner ear. It is useful for increasing flow of the lymphatic system, which helps your body get rid of harmful toxins. Trampolining has benefits similar to those of running, but without too much stress on knees and ankles.

If you would like to start trampolining, you may first need to ask a doctor to make sure it’s a safe activity for you. It’s easy to find an inexpensive trampoline, but it should be well made and strong enough to support your weight. To avoid accidents, some trampolines have 8 safety net around them. Remember: whenever you are on a trampoline, be careful not to jump near the edge of it.

Here are a few exercises for beginners:

★High Knee Lift. Raise one knee at a time. Lift your knee higher than you usually do when you are running.

★Star Jump. Jump into the air and spread your arms and legs into a star shape. As you gain more confidence, practice more difficult levels.

★Tuck Jump. At the top of your jump, bring the knees to the chest with the arms holding the legs.

★Pike Jump. Jump high, bring the legs up, and point the toes forward. Touch your toes with hands.

There are many more exercises you can try. Happy trampolining!

【1】According to the passage, which is the advantage of trampolining?

    A.It helps with bone growth.

B.It cures illnesses in our knees.

C.It helps reduce stress on muscles.

D.It prevents ears from being hurt.

【2】How can we do trampolining safely?

    A.Buy an expensive trampoline.

B.Jump in the center of a trampoline.

    C.Choose a trampoline without a net.

    D.Lose weight before starting trampolining.

    【3】This passage introduces ________.

A.an exercise to improve our fitness

    B.an exercise to gain self-confidence

C.a way to keep balance when we jump

D.a way to avoid accidents when exercising

  • 23、Considered as one of the English language’s most talented poets, John Keats wrote poems that focused on imagination, human nature, and life. Although Keats didn't receive much education on literature, his own studies and interests brought him much success. Also, his own life situation made a great difference to his poems.

Growing up as a young boy in London in a lower middleclass family, the young John didn't attend a private school, but went to a public one. His mother was not well educated. His teachers and his family’s friends considered him as a common boy who preferred playing and fighting much more to minding his studies. After his father’s death in the early 1800s, followed by his mother's because of tuberculosis(肺结核), he began seeing life differently. He wanted to keep away from the world and did so by reading anything he could get his hands on.

At around the age of 16, the teenage John Keats began studying medical treatment so that he too might become a doctor. However, his literary dream had taken too much of his life, especially with his love for the poems of Ehmund Spenser. He was able to have his first full poem published in the Examiner in 1816, named O Solitude! If I Must With Thee Dwell. Within two months in 1817, Keats had written another full poem, but was sharply criticized (批评) by a magazine. However, it didn’t stop his dream of poems.

John Keats’ next work was Endymion, which was published in May 1818. The story includes a farmer who falls in love with the moon and leads him to a trip of one boy's hope to deal with the limitations (限制) of being human. Following Endymion, however, he tried something more storybased and wrote Isabella. During this time, John Keats began seeing his limitations in poetry because of his own limit in life experiences. He would have to have the “knowledge” connected to his poems. His next work was Hyperion that would like to mix all that he learned together. However, a bout (发作) with tuberculosis while visiting Italy would keep him from his work and finally take his life in 1821.

【1】John Keats' thoughts about life changed because of __________ .

    A.Edmund Spenser's poetry

    B.the deaths of his parents

    C.the criticism of a magazine

    D.his early education from school

【2】What is the common thing between John Keats and his mother?

    A.They received little education.

B.They went to a private school.

C.They died of the same disease.

D.They showed strong interest in poetry.

【3】What can we infer from the passage?

A.Keats once had a chance of becoming a doctor.

B.The poem Hyperion wasn’t completed by Keats.

C.Edmund Spenser was the greatest poet in Keats’ time.

D.Keats’ family must have been very poor when he was young.

  • 24、   Most people hope to have a memory which helps them succeed in study, work and life. Can memory be improved? Luckily, hundreds of studies in the past 50 years have already given us a clear answer.

A healthy lifestyle keeps your brain young and memory sharp. First of all, it is necessary to have a healthy diet. Eating more food rich in B vitamins and Vitamin E, such as vegetables and lean meat, helps you have a better memory. Second, doing exercise can keep your brain alive, too. Proper exercise provides much needed oxygen for the brain. Running, riding a bike, swimming and even walking two or three times a week are helpful. Third, getting enough sleep is important. Only when your brain gets a good rest, can it work well. The healthier your lifestyle is, the better your memory will become, but do not expect a sudden changeit takes a long time to make a difference.

Memory skills help you remember things better. The following three are the most widely used. Chunking is a way of remembering a piece of information by cutting it into smaller ones. For example, to memorize a tendigit telephone number 2127983630, you can divide the digits into three groups: first 212, then 798, and lastly 3630.This method is much more effective. Organization means organizing information into groups of the same kind. For example, trees, grass and flowers are plants; tigers, pandas, horses and cows are animals. Imagery is remembering newly learnt information by using your imagination and connecting it with something that you are familiar with.

However, memory skills will hardly work if you don't understand the information. What's more, only a regular (有规律的) review can make the memory last long. That is why students are always advised to go over what they have learnt after one day and then after three days, and then use it as regularly as possible.

Human brains are like muscles that need nutrients and exercise to become stronger. If you make a few lifestyle changes and try some memory skills, you can certainly improve your memory.

1How many ways of keeping a healthy lifestyle are mentioned in the passage?

    A.Two B.Three C.Four D.Five

2Which of the following examples is the use of the skill "organization"?

A.Remembering the word "yellow" by putting it into the group of "color".

B.Remembering the meaning of the word "red" by connecting it with fire.

C.Remembering a long and difficult passage by understanding its meaning.

D.Remembering the post number 0708591 by diving it into 070 and 8571

3According to the passage, why should students go over what they have learnt?

A.To use it better every day B.To understand it in a better way

C.To improve memory skills D.To remember it for a longer time

4Which of the following maybe the best title of the passage?

A.Does Good Memory Help You Succeed.

B.A Healthy Lifestyle, A good Memory.

    C.Memory Needs Skillful Training.

D.A Healthy Lifestyle with Memory Skills, You Get a good memory.
