21、Friends are very important in our everyday life. Everyone needs friends. You will feel lonely if you have no friends.
Everyone likes to make friends. If you have friends, you can help each other. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things together. Certainly, sometimes you need to be alone. For example, when you need to have a good rest, you don’t want people to disturb you. You don’t always want people around. But most of the time, you need friends in your lives. Sometimes your friends move away. You can’t see them for a long time. You feel very sad. When you miss them very much, you had better call them or write to them. You can also make new friends. No two people in the world are just the same. Friends sometimes don’t get on well with each other. That doesn’t mean that they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will make it up and become friends again.
If you have many friends, you will live longer. Studies show people with friends live longer than those without friends. Why? Friends can make you feel happy. Being happy helps you stay well. If someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself. These show the importance of making friends.

22、 In many places, people build roads through animals’ habitats (栖息地). All day long, cars and trucks pass by. The animals can’t always stay away from the road. They may need to cross it to get their food and water. The road is dangerous. If a car hits an animal, the animal would be badly hurt or even killed. The people in the car would get hurt, too. Animals need a way to get around their habitat without having to walk across the road. But how?
Some people have thought of a solution (方法). They build wildlife corridors (走廊) that let animals cross roads safely. Some wildlife corridors are bridges that go over roads. People plant trees and grass on these bridges so they look like the natural habitat. Other wildlife corridors are tunnels (隧道) that go under the roads. Animals can look through them and see the habitat on the other side.
Different animals like to use different kinds of corridors. Some animals, such as moose and deer, like open spaces. They like bridge corridors better. Other animals, like black bears, like the tunnel corridors.
Wildlife corridors help animals get around their habitats to find food. They also keep people from getting into dangerous accidents. They are a great way for animals and people to live in the same area safely.
