21、In recent years, my family and I took the opportunity to travel during spring break. But this year, COVID-19 kept us from traveling.
Because of the pandemic(疫情), schools in my home state of Georgia have been closed since April 1. Since then, my family and I have spent more time together. My sister and I are learning online. We are all trying to stay healthy and limit(限制) screen time, and we are trying out new recipes.
Like other kids I’ve been following developments about COVID-19 and comparing notes with friends. Aldo says, “We’re watching the news daily, trying to stay informed about the best ways to stay healthy and safe.” Aldo and our other friends are 14 and live in Woodstock, a city in Georgia’s Cherokee County.
Although we are quarantined(隔离), my friends and I are trying to do a lot of activities to keep busy. Painting, cooking, playing board games, and spending time with family are our favorite things. We’re all staying home, but we can chat with others on the phone. I talk with my friends at least once a week to see what they’re doing.
Even though gyms, stores and parks reopen, my family and I are still staying at home. So far, not everything has returned to normal in Georgia. I don’t know how long it will be before the world goes back to normal. My guess is that we’ll adapt(适应) to the new normal.
