24、Dear Jackie,
Hello from Hong Kong! My class tour of China is almost over. Hong Kong is our last stop. We arrived here on Friday night, and I’m having lot of fun.
On Saturday, we visited the top of Victoria Peak. The view (视野) from the top was incredible (极好的)! I could see all of Hong Kong. There were also some nature trails (观景小路) on the peak. We went for a short walk and then had lunch in the afternoon.
In the evening, went with two friends to the Temple Street Night Market. The streets were full of people selling food, clothes, watches, bags, electronics, and lots of other things. I bought some souvenirs (纪念品) to bring home. It was really great day!
Yesterday, our group went to Disneyland (yes, there’s one here)! The park was crowded, and the lines for rides were long. I waited an hour to go on Space Mountain. That was my favorite!
Today is Monday, and we’re going to Ocean Park to see the pandas. I’ m really looking forward to it!
We will leave for home tomorrow night and arrive in Vancouver on Thursday morning. See you soon!
Yours,
Natalie

25、When something goes wrong, it can be very satisfying to say, “Well, it’s so-and-so’s mistake.” or “I know I’m late, but it’s not my mistake; the bus was late.” It is probably not your mistake, but once you form the habit of blaming(责备) somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could do nothing that helps change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop paying attention to whom to blame and start paying attention to how to improve the situation. This is the winner’s key to success.
Winners are great at overcoming(克服) problems. For example, if you were late because the bus was late, maybe you need to leave home early. Or, you might call a taxi or call friends for help when in need. For another example, if your workmate causes you problems on the job for short of responsibility(责任心) or ability, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility or inability rather than simply blame the person. Ask to work with a different person, or leave this person with some simple jobs. You should accept that the person is not reliable(可靠的) and find creative ways to work successfully regardless of how your workmate fails to do his job well.
This is what being a winner is all about—creatively using your skills and talents so that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don’t have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at seeing those problems as challenges(挑战) and chances to develop their own talents. So, stop paying attention to “whose mistake it is.” Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just stepping stones for success.

27、Animals are our friends. They hope to live a happy life with humans. Here are two real stories from our readers.
The first story is from Billy. He has a cat called Tiger. Tiger hates Billy’s iPad because the iPad takes Billy’s attention away from him. Last year, Billy fell down at home. He was unable to move and couldn’t get his phone to call for help. Tiger stayed by Billy’s side until he disappeared under the bed. To Billy’s surprise, Tiger started to push Billy’s iPad towards him. Tiger knew it would make Billy happy. Thanks to Tiger, Billy was able to communicate with his friend, Helen.
The second story is from James. Years ago, he saved a bird. She is a wild “Mom” cockatoo (鹦鹉) and James kept her as a pet in a big cage (笼子). She lost her left wing, “Dad” cockatoo built a home in the tree. “Baby” cockatoo would spend her days flying off with her dad, or rest near her mom. The family stayed together happily.
