24、Like most parents, mine spent much time advising me to take part in activities outside school. However, they never forced me, and I never found anything I was interested in. Then one day a friend at school told me about a local dance group and asked if I wanted to go with her. So after school we went to talk to the dance teacher. She explained everything to us and we both decided to join.
My parents were really pleased to hear I’d finally chosen dancing. They think if you develop an interest in doing something yourself, it will be easier to succeed.
I’ve now been attending the dancing classes for 3 years and I really enjoy it. We are organized into age groups, and at 16 I’m now in the oldest class. There are classes of swing dance, ballet (芭蕾舞), street dance and folk dance. I practice street dance and I’m quite good at it. I also help out leading some of the younger children.
We also take part in events like local and even national dance shows, and relatives turn up to see their children perform. My parents are proud of me as they tell me all the time.
Now I’ll be too old to continue dancing with the group. However, I have already made plans to continue with them. The dance school has become very successful and is opening new classes. The director has asked if I’d like to be one of the group leaders and of course I said “yes”!

25、 Looking at art should be like walking in the countryside. You may not know exactly where you are, what bird is making that strange sound, or what the hill ahead of you is called, but that’s part of the fun of it. You don’t need to know these things to feel the beauty of nature.
Of course, if you do know your birds, trees and local history, a walk can be more attractive. Yet such knowledge comes slowly. It is picked up through experience. A true knowledge of nature cannot just be given to you through an app on your phone. Imagine pointing your phone at the hill and getting plenty of information on screen. Would that enrich your dreamy walk or ruin it?
Braggarts (吹嘘者) enjoy an app that allows them to show off their knowledge, for example, about baroque (巴洛克风格的) paintings. In fact, apps in museums try to provide on-screen art history at once just to encourage people to read their phones instead of looking at paintings.
It is a mistaken idea that you need to be spoon-fed (灌输) amazing facts about a work of art in order to appreciate it. Our first experience of a work of art should be raw (自然状态的), unguided, and a bit puzzling, like following a path in the woods. Later, you might choose to do some personal research into the work. It can further increase your enjoyment and appreciation for it. Yet it is best done when you’re away from the art itself, so that even when you return, the work still feels fresh.
Anyone who thinks knowing some dates and details makes you better understand a work of art is wrong. We all need to put aside our screens and our supposed knowledge when we look at art. Let the paintings flow in; let your intuitions (直觉) fly off. Art is a journey in the wilderness or it is nothing at all.
【1】What’s the main idea of Paragraph 4?
A.How to appreciate a work of art.
B.How to do personal research into a work of art.
C.How to keep your feelings about a work of art fresh.
D.How to be spoon-fed amazing facts about a work of art.
【2】What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A.Because of apps, art will be ruined in the future.
B.A good piece of art is usually made about nature.
C.Research work and intuitions can both help understand art.
D.Museums are not supposed to allow the use of mobile phones.
【3】What does the writer mainly want to say?
A.Art is best with the help of apps.
B.Art is best when hidden in mystery.
C.Art is nothing compared with nature.
D.Art is nothing when details and facts are known.

A Your temperature can affect(影响) how you feel about other people. A study showed that experiencing physical warmth gives people a more positive attitude(积极的态度). For example, if you're holding a cup of hot coffee, you are probably more selfless towards others. | B About one in 10 people are left-handed. Many people think being left-handed happens for no reason. But. a new study shows that it’s caused by genes. British scientists have found genetic instructions(基因指令)in human DNA. They might cause people to be left-handed at birth. The instructions affect the part of the brain that deals with (处理) language. This might be why left- handers are better at learning languages. |
C A group of French researchers found that children with older brothers take longer to develop language skills. These children had a two-month delay (延迟) in language development on average(平均) compared to children with older sisters. Researchers think this is because older brothers talk more often in order to draw their parents' attention. Older sisters might talk with their younger sisters or brothers more. | D Are you a quiet person? Maybe you can try to pretend(假装) to be outgoing. 27、As Internet users become more dependent on the Internet to store information, do people, remember less? If you know your computer will store information, why do you store it in your brain? Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how.
In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow and his research team made some experiments (实验) to know how the Internet is changing memory.
In the first experiment, they asked two groups of people to put 40 unimportant facts into a computer. The first group understood that the computer would store the information. The second group understood that the computer would not store it. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.
In the second experiment, researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the Internet. The information was in a computer folder (文件夹). Surprisingly, people remember where the folder is better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. However, they remember how to find it. This is called “transactive memory (交互记忆)”.
According to Sparrow, computer users are developing stronger transactive memories, that is, people are learning how to organize a lot of information so that they are able to get it at a later date. This doesn’t mean we are becoming either more or less clever, but there is, no doubt that the way we use memory is changing.
【1】Why does the writer begin the text with two questions?
A.To explain some thoughts.
B.To introduce the main topic.
C.To show an opinion.

A.Sparrow put the information into the computer.
B.Both groups remembered the information well.
C.Group 1 remembered the information faster.

A.People keep the information in mind.
B.People remember how to make a folder.
C.People remember how to find the information.
D.People organize the information like a computer.
【4】What’s Professor Betsy Sparrow’s conclusion (结论)?
A.People become more and more clever.
