Every day since March 8, people all over the world keep asking the same question: Where did Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 go? It turns out to be the biggest mystery (神秘的事) in modern aviation (航空) history.

In the early hours of March 8, a Boeing 777 took off from Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur (吉隆坡). It was heading to Beijing. But about two hours into the flight, the plane lost contact. There were 239 people on board the Malaysia Airlines flight, including 154 Chinese. About 12 countries, including China, the US and Australia, have joined the search for the missing plane and passengers. The plane’s disappearance was a “mystery”, said officials. The plane was flying at a height of more than 10,000 meters when it suddenly lost contact. The weather was clear.

The pilots didn’t make any distress calls (求救信号). When a plane crashes, broken parts are usually recovered. But up to April 2, officials have not found anything. People are also talking about a possible hijacking. Interpol (国际刑警组织) said that two people on the flight used stolen passports. But that information alone isn’t evidence (证据) of a hijack. The investigation (调查) is still going on. It could take months or even years to find out what happened to the flight. “We are looking at all possibilities,” said Malaysian Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein. “The most important thing now is to find the plane.”

On March 24 came a piece of sad news. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that the plane “ended in the southern Indian Ocean”. Everyone on the plane died. But the mystery is still not solved. Nobody is giving up. China has said it will work hard to find out the truth at all costs.

  • 22、With her eyes always feeling tired as she prepared for an exam, 16-year-old Sun Ran went to the hospital with her parents in January. She was shocked when she found out that her eyesight dropped from 5.0 to 4.6. “Some of my friends have had the same experience recently,” Sun said.

In fact, poor eyesight among Chinese primary and high school students went up from 59.2 percent to 70.6 percent in the first six months of 2020, according to the Ministry of Education (教育部).

To protect students’ eyesight, the Chinese government has worked out new requirements (要求) that will take effect on March 1st, 2022. For example, according to the requirements, the size of text in students’ textbooks should not be too small. Teachers should also avoid using projectors (投影仪) or other teaching helpers that are too bright, Beijing Daily reported.

There are also requirements for desks and classroom lights. For example, these lights should give off as little blue light as possible. Blue light is bad for our eyes, as it can kill the photoreceptor cells (感光细胞) we need for vision, according to Harvard Medical School. Many of the electronic products (电子产品) we use every day, such as our phones and computer screens, give off blue light.

  • 23、   Sore necks are very common these days. How to avoid a sore neck? Here are the things you should know.

Take precautions after an unusual activity. Many people report having a pain in their necks after doing something that they don't often do, such as a new exercise or packing and moving.

If you know you've done something that puts you a risk, massage your neck, do it with different exercises and take a warm bath before bed.

Make sure your workstation is correct. If you work long hours at a desk, you may want to make sure that your work environment is set up to be the most relaxing. Make sure that your body is being treated right.

Keep your feet on the floor. This will often depend on how high your chair is, so adjust it in time to achieve good results.

Change your posture often. Sitting in one position for long periods of time is not healthy. Sit with your back straight for most of the time. Take a 5minute break if you can and walk around every hour.
