Fraser Island is in Queensland, Australia, about 200 kilometers north of Brisbane. It is about 120 kilometers long and 240 kilometers wide. It is a very important island because it is completely made of sand. In fact, it is the largest sandy island in the world. There is no airport on the island, but there is a long beach along the east coast. Planes arrive and leave from here.
The sand makes unusual shapes. There are hills made of sand called sand dunes. Nothing grows on them. They move one or two meters a year from the northwest towards the southeast of the island, getting bigger and bigger. At other places on the island, such as Rainbow Gorge, The Cathedrals and Red Canyon, the sandy rocks have different colors. Sometimes the rocks are so brown that they turn the sea brown, like coffee.
Surprisingly, the sandy island has a lot of different plants and animals. There are dark forests—eucalyptus woods, beautiful flowers and over a hundred lakes. There are many kinds of birds, like owls and curlews. There are many animals there, too, such as crocodiles, flying foxes and wild dogs called dingoes.
About 500,000 people visit the island every year to see the island’s beauty and nature. People enjoy camping and hiking there. Unluckily, the visitors create problems. They break plants and frighten animals. Their suncream (防晒霜) makes the water dirty. So it is necessary to manage the visitors. For example, people may not use motorboats or go fishing in the lakes.

【3】The passage is mainly about ________ .
A.the shape of Fraser Island

D.daily life on Fraser Island
22、Education doesn’t only take place in the classroom—it can happen anywhere. Museums are one of the places students visit for good reason. With their real artifacts(工艺品) and exhibitions(展览), museums provide a nice environment to enrich students’ learning in different kinds of fields.
According to the International Council of Museums, there were about 55, 000 museums worldwide in 2017. Many of them are free, so schools needn’t worry about the costs.
An important role of museums in education is the experience they provide. According to ArtNews. com in 2015, there were three most-visited exhibitions in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art—“Treasures of Tutankhamen”, “Mona Lisa” and “The Vatican Collections”. What all these exhibitions have in common is their historical importance and the one-of-a-kind experience that the visitors have. To read or hear about the artifacts is not the same as seeing them in person, which can be a life-changing experience. “Mona Lisa” is the work of art with great value. Standing face-to-face with such a famous work with one’s own eyes can bring students a new understanding of the work, an experience that they can’t get anywhere else.
In the classroom, educators can teach students through talks, videos, or readings. Museum trips can not only excite students, but also serve as a supplement(补充)for things discussed in class. In museums, students can connect what they see with their class experiences. Therefore, students can have a complete understanding of the thing more easily.
As museums have much to do with history or artifacts of the past, it has been a difficult task for them to keep up with the technologies of today. The competitor of a museum is short videos or computer games, instead of other museums. Museums have chosen to bring technologies into exhibitions. For example, Wi-Fi allows the guests to get the museum app, which serves to better the exhibits. Although technology is getting a stronger hold on the world, there is still the want for a real museum experience in education, especially with our students.
【1】What can we learn from the passage?
A.Students can learn many things in museums.
B.Museum trips will cost schools a lot of money.
C.Museum trips are usually boring for the students.
D.Students mainly learn through reading in museums.
【2】The writer mentions “Mona Lisa” in Paragraph 3 to show that ________.
A.it’s a world-famous art work of great value
B.it’s a special experience to see artifacts in person
C.museums help educators teach better outside school
D.museums provide students with a chance to learn history
【3】Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.How can museums help educators?
B.Why do museums need technologies?
C.How should students learn in museums?
D.Why do students still need to visit museums?
23、A zero-waste life is a lifestyle that hardly creates any rubbish. So, a zero-waste store is about providing a kind of everyday and pleasant-looking zero-waste products(产品) to help people start on a zero-waste life journey.
“Zero waste” or “danshari” was first suggested by a French woman called Bea Johnson. Her idea is: live a life and try not to create any rubbish; use different kinds of ways to save the environment such as stopping the use of one-off objects; giving unwanted things to others or giving them away to organizations like the Red Cross.
Yu Yuan, 27, is deeply interested in this idea. She and her boyfriend have lived in Beijing for many years. And earlier she used to buy things without thinking about them carefully until she saw a video about “zero waste”, in which a family of four put the rubbish they produced every year in a jar(罐子). After watching the video, Yu wanted to experience this zero-waste lifestyle with her boyfriend.
A zero-waste life follows the 6R rule—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot. Over August—October when Yu followed the rule of zero waste 6R, she and her boyfriend Joe Harvey both produced only two cans of rubbish.
Now, the couple have opened a small shop in Beijing where they use wood products to take the place of plastic ones and cloth bags printed with environmentally friendly logos(环保标志). Most products sold in the store can be reused. The store also has second-hand books and CDs/DVDs with ideas to make the best of the used things.
“Those who once experienced the non-waste lifestyle have slowly changed their ideas.” says Yu, “The zero-waste lifestyle is not for ascetics(苦行僧). It is just around us at our finger-tips.” Yu expects some of her friends to join her on the road to zero waste.

D.she feels it hard to continue her lifestyle

24、综合填空。
During the Tang dynasty, Emperor Taizong (唐太宗) asked the prime minister (大臣) Feng Deyi to recommend talented (有天赋的) people. H【1】, Feng didn’t recommend anyone after several months.
“I tried my best, but there are no 【2】 (usual) or well-rounded people at all,” Feng said.
“People are like tools,” said the emperor. “What we need to do is 【3】 (make) good use of their strengths (才能,才华). You should blame (责备) 【4】 (you) for not noticing people’s strengths. How could you say that there were no talented people in our dynasty?”
That’s true. Each tool has its own function (功能). A knife is made to cut things w【5】 chopsticks are made to pick up food. We can’t use a knife as a chopstick.
L【6】 a tool, each person has a special strength. Nobody is perfect. We can’t expect a person to be good at everything.
With this idea in mind, Emperor Taizong found many talented people of different backgrounds. He gave them important positions (职位), which helped them make 【7】 (much) of their talents. His talented people helped society develop and created a “golden age”.
A good example is Ma Zhou, who grew up in a poor family. Ma gave a lot of 【8】 (use) advice, so Emperor Taizong gave him a position and praised him many times.
If a person is talented in one field, we should give him a chance. 【9】 same idea can be found in The Analects of Confucius. Treating people as tools shows good leadership. Our president once told this story to officers, 【10】 (ask) them to treat talented people correctly.
