四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、

OH no, not again! I’ve forgotten my password. We all have trouble remembering all those passwords we need to get on our favorite websites. But, if you could take a pill every day that remembers all of your passwords, would you take it?

Well, now there’s a smart pill that can store all of personal details, so when you have to type your password, the electronic device will connect to the pill without you doing anything! The new technology comes from Proteus Digital Health, a company from California, US.

How does it work? The pill has a tiny chip that stores all your online data. It works by the acid in the user’s stomach. Then your smartphones or computers can read the data on the chip when you are near. So remembering your passwords may soon be a problem of the past! However, you’ll have to take the pill everyday.

The average person types in 39 passwords per day, according to Proteus Digital Health. That’s over 14000 times per year! So it could save a lot of time for busy people. As well as being convenient, the pill could also protect us against identity theft.

The smart pill has been approved by both the US and EU food and drug regulators. So everybody may get it soon. The company also has plans to create electronic tattoos that can store data, just like the smart pill. Could we soon be wearing digital information?

【1】According to the first two paragraphs, the smart pill can ________.

    A.make you remember your passwords

B.help you look through any website

C.help you type on the computer

    D.make you forget your passwords

【2】The underlined word “approved” in the last paragraph means “________”.

    A.批准

    B.反对

    C.生产

    D.销售

【3】According to Paragraph 3, which of the following is TRUE?

A.A small chip in the pill stores your memory.

B.The pill works by the acid from your stomach.

C.Only phones can read the data on the chip

D.The pill solves all of your problems.

    【4】Paragraph 4 mainly talks about________.

A.why people type in passwords so often

    B.how important passwords are

C.what the smart pill can do for people

    D.the risk of identity theft

  • 25、Mom’s Recipe (食谱) for Life

I have a lot of Mom’s recipes in a blue box where all my special ones were put. But the recipe I treasure (珍爱) most is not in the box. Instead, mom lived this recipe all of her life.

My mother grew up in a small town in southwest Iowa. My grandfather told me that my mom regarded(把……当做) everyone as her friend in that community. She had this attitude (态度) all her life.

As a teen, I was embarrassed (尴尬) every time when my mother talked to strangers (陌生人) and gave a smile to everyone in the store or on the bus. Almost all of them responded (回应) with a bright smile of their own. Some spoke, others nodded their heads at this elderly woman who brought a little light into their day.

One day, Mom took the senior (老年人) bus to the shop. It was her first time to take the senior bus. When she came back, I asked her how it went.

“Ha!” She said, “I got on that bus and guess what I saw: Thirteen old people and no one spoke on the bus.”

“Oh, did you talk with them?”I asked.

“Of course.” she said. “When I got on the bus I gave them a big smile and I said, ‘Isn’t it a wonderful day?’ I greeted them happily and before long the whole group was smiling and talking to one other. The bus became more than just transportation (交通工具)”.That is really amazing.

When I was free, I went shopping with Mom, I watched as she smiled and talked with strangers. Once Mom smiled at them and started a conversation, they could talk to her friendly. My mother didn’t embarrass me any longer. I found myself admiring her.

She’s been gone for ten years but I’ve carried on her recipe for life. It was me who had done the smiling first and all those people responded. My mother taught me by example. She’d given me a recipe for life.

【1】As a teen, how did the writer feel when her mom talk to strangers?

    A.Embarrassed

    B.Happy

    C.Excited

    D.Relaxed

【2】What did the writer’s mom do to make the bus more than transportation?

A.She gave her seat to other people.

B.She gave her food to the people on the bus.

C.She shook hands with the people on the bus.

D.She smiled at the people on the bus and started a conversation.

【3】What did the writer learn from her mom?

A.She should do some shopping for strangers.

B.She should give her menus to others.

C.She should start a conversation with her friends first.

D.She should regard everyone as her friend and smile first.

五、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 28、Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words(在短文的空格内填入适当的词,使其内容通顺,每空格限填一词,首字母已给)

The following are six film r1 from the students.

The Girl in Black is a story about something that happened 400 years ago. Two young people meet and fall in love but the young man has to go away to fight in a w2. The story has a good beginning but then nothing really happens.

The Circle of Life is a film everyone should see if they want to go home feeling cheerful. I couldn't stop 13. There is one sad part in the middle but everything is all right in the end. Jules Verity, the star, normally sings and dances in films, so this is a change for him.

The clothes the actors wear in Cramer Place are lovely. It is a true story which takes place in the nineteenth century in an old house. It is actually difficult to believe this really happened and I found it i4 to guess the ending-you just have to wait and see. The acting is wonderful.

The Blue Country is an action film with a difference because it is also funny u5 the end when everyone dies. Most of the action actually comes at the end and I did find the first half a little boring.

I hadn't heard of any of the actors in the Lost Journey but I'm sure we'll see them again. The film takes place on a small planet in the future. It is rather difficu.t to believe but.it has a good story and is w6 acted. L loved the ending which I hadn't expected.

The Path to Nowhere is the latest in a series of films starring Des Riley and Tom Carver. It starts with a car chase, there is plenty of action in the middle and it finishes with a helicopter following the two men as they try to escape in a boat. I couldn't wait to d7 what happened.
