一、翻译题 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 1、语篇翻译   阅读下面的短文,将划线部分译成英文或中文。

    1. A Chinese man called Cai Lun invented paper about 2 ,000 years ago. He made it from wood. He took the wood from trees and made it into paper. He then put these pieces of paper together and made them into a book.

Now paper still comes from trees. We use a lot of paper every day. If we keep on wasting paper there will not be any trees left on the earth. If there are no trees, there will be no paper. Every day people throw away about 2800 tons of paper in our city. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting nearly 48,000 trees every day. Since it takes more than 10 years for a tree to grow, we must start using less paper from now on.2. If we don't, we will not have enough time to grow more trees.

So how can we save paper? 3. Some people suggest we should use both sides of every piece of paper. We can also choose drinks in bottles instead of those in paper. We can also use cotton handkerchiefs(手帕) and not paper ones.4. 当我们逛街时,我们可以使用更少的纸袋子。If the shop assistant gives use paper bag, we can save it and reuse it later.

Everyone can help to save paper. If we all think carefully, we can help protect trees. 5. 让我们现在采取行动节约用纸。

四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、

We’ll finally grow up someday, leaving our parents and facing the challenges in life. Parents may not be able to solve every problem for us. Instead, we should have enough life skills to deal with the problems that come our way.

This is what our country tries to do now: Helping more students gain working spirit. To stress(强调) the importance of hardworking spirit education(劳动教育) among students of different ages, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council released(颁发) a guideline recently.

The guideline calls for students to respect work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.

The government has been trying to stress the importance of hardworking spirit education. But this has been overlooked(忽视) in recent years. Many teens do not value the importance of working hard and are uninterested in doing so.

According to a study of nearly 3,000 students that was done by Ningbo Evening News in March, only 22 percent of primary and middle school students help with everyday housework around the house.

Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says.

Primary and middle schools should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-Planting Day.

As children’s first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do housework at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms.

    1Why was the guideline released?

A.To teach students how to do housework at home. B.To call for students to respect work.

C.To help students solve life problems. D.To ask students to be more independent (独立的).

2What does the word “this” in Paragraph 4 refer to?

A.Challenges in life. B.Basic life skills.

C.The recently released guideline. D.Hardworking spirit education.

3What is Paragraph 5 trying to tell us?

A.About one-fifth of students help with housework. B.Students pay no attention to work spirit.

C.Only 3,000 students help with housework. D.Students depend on their parents.

4According to the guideline, what should schools do?

A.They should teach students how to plant trees.

B.They should hand out the guideline to every student.

C.They should provide both guidance and chances for real work.

    D.They should give parents homework.

  • 25、When I looked at the grade on my math paper, my jaw(下巴) almost dropped to the ground: a big “65” in bright red ink.I had never received such a terrible grade before.

When I got home that afternoon, I lied to my dad.I told him I got 85 and that the report wouldn’t come until the end of the month. Dad smiled. His daughter would never lie about her grade, so he didn’t doubt my words.

A month later, Dad asked me again about the report at the dinner table. He looked right into my eyes and asked for an answer.Having no choice, I told him that I had in fact got just 65 in my math final.I had lied because I didn’t want to let him down.

For a moment, he just looked at me.I would have preferred a telling off than that silence. Finally, Dad said, in a hurt voice, “You have already let me down, with your lie.I am not disappointed at your math score. No one can be perfect all the time. But I am very disappointed in you.If you can’t be honest with your dad, who can you be honest with? It’s much easier to get a better grade than rebuild someone else’s trust(信任) in you.”

Dad’s words touched my heart.I could not forgive myself for having hurt his feelings.I took out the report that I had been hiding for weeks, handed it to him and apologized(道歉) sincerely.I realized that my honesty is not only important to me, but to those around me that truly care about me.

In one of Shakespeare’s plays, a person says, “No legacy(遗产) is so rich as honesty.” Now I understand those words.

  • 26、A city without cars would be very strange, right? But Venice is such a city.

Venice is in the northeast of Italy. It wasn’t built on land, like Beijing or Shanghai, but on more than 110 islands. Seawater is everywhere around the city.

Even so, travel isn’t difficult. The waterways have always been the best way to get around. There are 117 waterways and more than 400 bridges that can guide you where you want to go. People in Venice move from place to place by boat. They like to enjoy the scenery and cool summer nights while taking boat trips. They can talk to other people as they go along.

Venice grew out of small islands in saltwater lakes when some Italians escaped from a war more than 1,500 years ago, and built homes there. Water makes the city special, but it is also a big problem.

Once, people used too much underground water. This made the city get lower little by little. Now the city has gone down by 23 centimeters. Another problem is the rising seawater. The temperature has risen over the years. This has made the ice of the Arctic Ocean (北冰洋) melt (融化).

Every year, high waters hit the city in autumn and winter. When a lot of water comes, more than half of the city is underwater.

Scientists are trying different ways to stop the city from getting even lower.

1Which is the most possible way for people in Venice to get around in the passage?

    A. On foot.   B. By boat.   C. By car.   D. By bike.

2Why is Venice still getting lower and lower?

    A. Because too many people live there.

    B. Because the rising temperature has made the ice melt.

    C. Because lots of bridges have been built.

    D. Because the underground water is rising.

3What seasons are dangerous for Venice because of high waters?

    A. Summer and autumn.   B. Autumn and winter.

    C. Summer and winter.   D. Spring and winter.

    4The passage is mainly about____________.
