That’s what 84-year-old Masako Wakamiya of Japan decided to do 4 years ago. What’s more, the Granny made a free app game, Hinadan, which gets nearly 5 stars on the Apple App Store and 53,000 downloads worldwide.

The app, based on the traditional Japanese doll festival of Hina Matsuri, invites players to put 12 dolls in the right order. So far, the game has become very popular with elderly(年长) women who enjoy playing it with their grandchildren.

“Japan is a ‘super-aged’ nation where one in four people are over 65 years old. Still, there aren’t many app games for elderly people.
