The Notre Dame fire has been put out, but its wooden roof has been largely damaged. The terrible accident caused a sudden sharp pain to people around the world, “What a pity that we cannot see the damaged parts of the wonder anymore.”

But the good news is that there is at least one way of seeing them. There is a video game called Assassin’s Creed: Unity. In this game, the player can go to one city after another and enter the buildings exactly like what they are in reality, and see Notre Dame as it was before the fire. What’s more, with VR technology, one can even look around the undamaged Notre Dame as if it is still there.

Maybe digital technology could help to better protect architectural cultural heritage (建筑文化遗产). Engineers can make a copy as “same” as the real one by scanning the ancient buildings with lasers, building 3D models with hundreds of images, as well as measuring everything exactly.

As computers and smart phones are widely used, the digital replica or digital copy has great practical value. First, it allows tourists to feel the cultural relics without touching them, which helps protect them. The virtual tour of Dunhuang Grottoes in Gansu Province is a good example of this as tourists can view the paintings without standing near them. Furthermore, it can make the digitized cultural relics more famous by spreading awareness about them through the Internet. In 2000, a virtual tour of the Great Wall became well liked at the Hannover World Expo, which increased the number of foreign tourists visiting it in the following years. Above all, it saves all the information of the cultural relics. Even if the original ones are damaged one day, people can still know what they were like and can build a replica if desired.

Time is the biggest problem to architectural heritage. Maybe we will have better technologies in the future, but the digital technology offers a practical way to protect architectural cultural heritage at the moment.

【1】What can we see about Notre Dame in the video game?

    A.The big fire.

    B.Its original look.

【2】What will engineers do to create a digital copy of the ancient buildings?

    A.Make digital models.

B.Build 3D models of full size.

    C.Scan them with cameras.

    D.Measure all the parts exactly.

【3】How does the writer prove the digital copy has great practical value?

    A.By giving examples.

    B.By comparison.

    C.By reasoning things out.

    D.By showing methods.

【4】Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?

    A.The Damage of Notre Dame

B.Digital Technology Helps Protect Cultural Relics

    C.The Value of Digital Replica

D.VR Technology Helps Repair the Ancient Buildings

A man walked to India from far away. When he got there, he saw a lot of fruit. Among them there was a big basket of very red, long fruit. And it was the cheapest in the shop. "I'd like a kilogram of this kind of fruit, please," he said to the shop keeper. After the keeper gave him the fruit, he began to eat some of it. "Oh, my God!" he shouted. His eyes watered, his mouth watered; his eyes were burning, his head was burning; and his face became red. As he coughed, he jumped up and down, saying, "Ah! Ah! Ah!"

Sometimes we do a lot of things like that. We still continue just because we've put money, time, effort and love into it. Just like the man who ate the chilies and felt so bad but couldn't stop because he didn't want to waste the money he had paid.

    A.水果   B.食盐

    C.食谱   D.佐料

【4】The man still ate the chilies after he knew they were condiments because he thought .

A.he had paid for them B.they could make him warm

C.he was very brave   D.they could help him stronger

【5】What's the purpose of the author in writing this passage?

A.To tell us that chilies are harmful to our health.

B.To tell us that we should let pay no attention to what we have lost.

C.To tell us that you don't always get back what you've lost.

D.To tell us that losing is better than getting.

  • 26、   Today almost everyone knows computers and the Internet. If I ask you “What is the most important in your life?” , maybe you will say “Computers and the Internet.”

The first computer was made in 1946. It was very big but it worked slowly. Today computers are getting smaller and smaller. But they work faster and faster. What can computers do? A writer has said, “People can’t live without computers today.”

The Internet came a little later than computers. It is about twenty-five years later than computers. But now it can be found almost everywhere. We can use it to read books, writer letters, do shopping, play computer games or make friends.

Many students like the Internet very much. They often go into the Internet as soon as they are free. They make friends on the Internet and maybe they have never seen these friends. They don’t know their real names, ages, and even sex. They are so interested in making the “unreal friends” that they can’t put their hearts into study. Many of them can’t catch up with others on many subjects because of that.

We can use computers and the Internet to learn more about the world. But at the same time, we should remember that not all the things can be done by computers and the Internet.

1The Internet can not be used for______.

    A.studying B.shopping C.thinking D.playing

2When the computer was invented, it was______.

    A.large and worked quickly

    B.small and worked slowly

    C.large but worked slowly

    D.small but worked quickly

3The Internet was born in about________.

    A.1960 B.1970 C.1980 D.1985

4Which of the following is TRUE?

B.Students use the Internet to make “unreal friends.”

C.These “Unreal friends” often meet each other.

D.Students know the friends on the Internet very well.

5What does the writer think of the Internet?

    A.It is wonderful.

B.It can make students study harder.

C.It is not good for students.

D.It is helpful, but we can’t do everything on it.

  • 27、   Bono, the lead singer of U2, a popular Irish rock band, once said that “music can change the world because it can change people.” This is what a group of music therapists(治疗专家) here are trying to do with autistic(自闭症的) children in Nepal. “Music therapy can be helpful to children with autism(自闭症). The greatest challenge is to build trust in the relationship between the therapist and the child,” Kendra Gandharba, a music therapist told Xinhua Wednesday as Nepal joined the world in celebrating Autism Awareness Day.

When Rahul was three years old, he was still unable to speak and to interact(互动) with people. It was only then that his mother realized that there was something wrong with her son. After talking with doctors she came to know that Rahul, now six years old, is an autistic child.

Experts(专家) believe that the autism spectrum disorder(自闭症谱系障碍) presents itself in the first three years. The condition is the result of a neurological(神经病学的) disorder that has an influence on usual brain function(功能). It influences social interaction and communication skills. Several studies suggest that children with autism show their feelings and take part in activities with others during music therapy lessons. Now there are 15 autistic children getting better from the power of music through the lesson every week in Nepal. “With music therapy we work on five developmental areas: communication, awareness, motor movement, social skills and feelings,” Gandharba, one of Nepal’s music therapists, explained.

In the music therapy room, Xinhua met Shyam as he sat in front of the keyboard. Smiling at the therapist, the 10-year-old boy started playing the keyboard. Playing and sharing instruments, taking part in music games and singing are just a few ways through which the therapist tries to interact with autistic children. Autistic children are free to pick the musical instrument of their choice.

Music therapy, however, is still at an embryonic stage in Nepal where autism remains a taboo(禁忌) in the country's rural areas(郊区). “In villages I have seen people with mental or physical disabilities being treated like animals,” Gandharba said, adding that efforts should be made to introduce music therapy in Nepal’s rural areas.

The organization, Autism Care Nepal(ACN), hosted different events on World Autism Awareness Day to educate, create awareness among parents about the rights of children with autism.

1What’s the greatest challenge for therapists to help autistic children by using music therapy?

A.To force them to talk with others. B.To play and share toys with autistic children.

C.To attract them to play music games. D.To make them willing to believe in therapists.

2The underlined word “embryonic” in the fifth paragraph probably means “____”.

    A.early B.easy C.active D.amazing

3Which of the following statements is NOT true?

A.The autistic children learn how to interact with each other during music therapy lessons.

B.The autistic children learn how to show their own feelings during music therapy lessons.

C.The music therapy can enable every autistic child to play musical instruments well.

D.The music therapy can improve the communication skills of children with autism.

4Which of the following is the main idea of this article?

A.Music can change the world because it can change people.

B.Music therapy may be useful to children with autism in Nepal.

C.Efforts should be made to introduce music therapy in rural areas.

D.Music therapists helped autistic children in Nepal with music therapy.
