四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   “All right, are you ready? Okay, the camera’s rolling.” I was really realizing my dream. I stood inside the empty school hallway on a spring afternoon. In my slightly shaking hand, I held the script On Patrol. “For this scene,” I explained, “all I need you to do is walk quietly.” In front of the camera was my best friend, Gavin, wearing a blue uniform. “Would it be funnier if I looked into the camera?” Gavin suggested. “Hmm,” I said. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s do it that way.” This was certainly not a Hollywood blockbuster. I didn’t have a producer, a script director, or even something as simple as a light setup. The only equipment(设备)I had was my camera and my tripod(三脚架), but they were enough to make my dream come true. “Okay, are you good?” I asked. Gavin nodded his head. “Okay. Action!” I said.

Since as far back as my preschool years, movies have been my life. Some people may think back to their childhood as they hear the sound of table tennis or see a baseball flying into the blue sky during a backyard game. Some people may smell the salty air of the ocean during a family vacation. As for me, I hear the sound of the video recorder, as it replays the tape of a video. The movie I watched most as a child was Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. From then on, I watched as many movies as I could and my mom and dad often said to me, “Nathan, you need to stop watching movies and go outside.”

When I began high school, I was considering what I should choose as a job. After months of not having any idea of what I would become, an idea appeared: if I love movies so much, why not make it a career? During high school, experience seemed to be key in turning my dream into a reality. With this realization, I wrote my first short film, On Patrol, a ten-minute silent video about a hall monitor trying to stop someone from throwing rubbish at a school. After I finished my first script, I was very excited. Then I was thinking, “Now it is up to me to make my first movie.”

The short script was filmed over the course of a weekend at my school. The hallway was dark, giving off a cold atmosphere(气氛). It was perfect for my movie. The filming process was anything but perfect. The lighting never matched up; my cheap camera battery kept dying, which forced me to record on an iphone. Though I was very tired, I was still learning. I was learning to work with my actors and listen to their ideas. I was learning to tell a story like a professional filmmaker. When filming was finished, it took another week of editing(剪辑)for my first film.

It was not a famous movie, but it was my step-ping-stone. Now looking back at On Patrol still gives me a dream that could direct more good movies. Along with the film, the memories of filming remain in my brain. For me, it was the moment when I was no longer a silly kid with an interest in movies. Instead, I was a director. Watching my first movie not only gives me a laugh, but also gives me the encouragement to continue running after a love I have had since I put Spider-Man into my video recorder many years ago.

  • 25、For Chinese, it's a time for dragon boat racing and Zongzi. But across the Yellow Sea, South Korea, wrestling and swing play are the highlights. However, both events go by the same name — the Dragon Boat Festival — which falls on May 5 of the lunar calendar.

One festival, two cultures: does one nation have the right to call its own? It has been reported that South Korea will apply(申请) to the UNESCO to make the celebration its cultural heritage(遗产). If successful, people from other countries may see the Dragon Festival as a Korean creation.

As the birthplace of the yearly event more than 2, 000 years ago, China is not happy with the situation. “It would be a shame if another country successfully made a traditional Chinese festival part of its own cultural heritage ahead of China,” said Zhou Heping, deputy culture minister. The Ministry of Culture is even thinking of making its own application to UNESCO, covering all traditional Chinese festivals, including the Dragon Boat event.

Over the years, the Dragon Boat Festival has spread throughout the world. In Japan and Viet Nam, as well as South Korea, the festival has mixed with and become part of local culture.

With this in mind, some experts say that it is meaningless to argue about which country the festival belongs to. “No one can deny that it came from China,” said Long Haiqing, an expert from Hunan Province. “But if all the countries involved(参与) can protect culture heritage together, they will all benefit(受益).”

【1】What can be inferred from the passage?

A.South Korea has proclaimed(声明) the Dragon Boat Festival as a part of its cultural heritage.

B.South Korea has the exactly same Dragon Boat Festival as China.

C.South Korea has no idea that China has such a festival.

D.South Korea is paying more attention to its cultural heritage than China.

【2】Why is China not happy with the situation?

    A.Because it created the festival.

B.Because it is also making an application.

C.Because South Korea has no right to call the festival its own.

    D.Because UNESCO may approve(批准) South Korea's application.

【3】What would the author probably support?

A.A move by South Korea to cancel its application.

B.China getting UNESCO's approval of the festival first.

    C.The opinion of Zhou Heping.

D.China paying more attention to its cultural heritage.
