The Sol Reader, weighing only around 100g, is an e-book reader. But different from Kindle, it’s like a pair of sunglasses! It wants to provide people with a more comfortable reading experience by making it hands-free. The pages of the e-book are projected against a dark background on the glasses. But sorry, you cannot turn the pages with your eyes or the power of your mind. You need to use a remote controller (遥控器). So it’s not totally hands-free.

Using AR glasses and a smartphone, deaf and people with hearing loss are also able to join in everyday conversations. The G-Wonder has a microphone that receives the sound from the environment and sends it to a connected smartphone.

The phone then creates subtitles (字幕) from that sound. By special software, these subtitles then appear on the users’ glasses screen. Real-time subtitles made the pair of glasses become part of the conversations as never before.

Do you want a pair of high-tech glasses? Want glasses that can help you find your way or give you helpful information? Try Conan. The glasses are from Google, a US company. They look like any other glasses, but in fact, they are computers. There are many buttons on the arms of the glasses. Users can find the latest information from the glasses.

【1】Where could we read the passage?

    A.www.studentslife.com.

    A.③②①

    C.③①②

【4】What can we infer from the passages above?

A.Sol Reader will be popular because people can turn pages with eyes.

B.AR glasses may be really useful to people with hearing loss.

C.All inventions don’t look like common sunglasses.

【5】What’s the theme of the passages?

  • 25、   You are rushing to school and a man ahead of you suddenly falls down. Do you stop to help? Some people look away or keep on walking rather than stop and get involved(介入)

“There is an inclination(倾向)that you don’t need to take action. The first thought that come into your mind often stop you from offering help.” says Ervin Staub, who studies the role of bystanders. Again and again, good and caring people do not come to give a hand to others They know they should act and yet, for reasons they themselves don't understand, people sometimes don't get involved. Longtime researchers of bystanders continue to study with the question, “Why?”

One thing we do know is that the more unclear a situation is, the less possible people are to help. Let's say you see vapors (水汽) coming out of a building. You ask yourself, “Is it steam(蒸汽) or smoke?”If you are not sure, you look to other people for something about how to deal with the problem______, you think“ Of course, that’s just steam. ”You don't want it to be smoke, because then you would have to do something about it.

Another one is known as “the bystander effect(效应)”. This says that the more people there are looking at an emergency, the less responsible each one of them feels. For example, if you are the only person in the world who can save someone in danger, it is more possible for you to act. However, if you are one of 100,000 people who could save the situation, you would be happier if one of the other 99,999 people did it! Because you think it's not that necessary for you to get involved!

“If you notice trouble, make yourself stop and judge the situation instead of going on walking, says Ervin Staub. “then try to get other people to help together; you don't have to take all the responsibility of being helpful. Once you get involved, most people will follow you and also offer help.

1What can we infer from the first two paragraphs?

A.People shouldn't help the man who falls down in front of us.

B.Many people kept on walking because they didn't see the man fell down.

C.We refuse to help for some unknown reasons even though we know we should.

D.We don’t need to take action if we don't want to.

2The writer uses “the bystander effect”to show that__________

A.the feeling of responsibility changes with the number of people around.

B.people always like to take the responsibility in different situations.

C.people often share their ideas when they’re in dangerous situations.

D.people are possible to behave in the same way as most other people do

3Which of the following sentences can be put in the ▲ ?

A.If other people are laughing at you.

B.If you see other people doing nothing.

C.If you are sure of doing something.

D.If other people see you doing something.

4Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?

A.Is it important to offer help? B.Is it difficult to believe yourself?

C.To stand there or get involved? D.To change the decision or keep it?

  • 26、What do people do with their old, out of date but still useful computers? Most people don’t know how to deal with them. Many old computers are put away. Many more are simply thrown away as rubbish.

Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to bring down the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products(产品). Dell, Hewlett Packard and other companies now also take back some old computers of their own brands.

In some countries, laws have been passed, too. Computer companies have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70% of the computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay for the cost. That will encourage them to make computers which are easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade(升级).

Yet many people are throwing away good computers, while others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working on this problem. They collect and repair old computers. Some also teach others how to repair computers. These repaired computers then go to schools, charities(慈善团体) or people who need them. Giving a used computer to one of these organizations can turn one person’s rubbish into someone else’s useful things and cut down waste, too.

    根据短文内容,选择正确答案。

  • 27、Chen Lin is a doctor who is from Yongzhou. After his graduation from Peking University, he works in an office for a large organization. And this job can sometimes be just as exciting and dangerous as being an explorer.

Chen Lin works for MSF, an organization also known as Doctors Without Borders(无国界医生). MSF sends trained doctors all over the world to help people after a war or disaster(灾难). Chen Lin has traveled to many places to organize programs that help people in need.

At present, there are over 27, 000 trained medical staff taking part in MSF projects and tasks. The organization received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. All kinds of doctors can volunteer for MSF. They need to be prepared to go almost anywhere in the world and, of course, they should expect difficult conditions. Doctors with experience in tropical (热带的)diseases are especially useful because most of MSF’s work is in Africa. When MSF accepts a doctor for a task, he has to go for at least six months. When doctors have completed a few tasks, they might be sent on an emergency task following a disaster, such as an earthquake.

But why would a doctor leave a comfortable life and a good salary to join MSF? According to Chen Lin, the experience you have is a great help in your career. Besides, just like the explorers of the past, you need to keep an open mind and learn to get along well with the people you meet. Most importantly, at the end of each task, you have made a real difference to people’s lives.

【1】According to the first paragraph, which is TRUE about Chen Lin?

A.Doctors from all over the world.

B.Doctors who are kind and patient.

C.Doctors who have experience in tropical diseases.

【4】What does a doctor have to do if he is accepted for a task by MSF?

A.He has to go for at least half a year.

B.He has to go for less than six months.

C.He has to go to Africa.

【5】From Dr. Chen’s words, we learn that ________.
