六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、Many of us enjoy watching wild animals, and we can learn a lot from them. Wild geese, for example, tell us what is teamwork. In fall, they fly to the warm south to get away from cold winter. They fly in no order, but they can quickly form a V-shape, with one bird leading.

This V-shape helps wild geese save energy. When the front bird moves its wings (翅膀) up and down, the force of the air lifts the next one. The bird in the front has the hardest job. When it gets tired, it moves behind and another bird takes its place. By sharing the leading role, the group can travel very far. Wild geese flying in a V-shape can fly 70% farther without a rest than the one flying alone.

During the long flying journey, wild geese communicate (交流) with one another. They honk (鸣叫) to cheer on each other to keep up the speed and work toward a common goal.

What can we learn from wild geese? Work together! We need the spirit of teamwork! Teamwork can help us finish tasks better.

【1】Which wild goose is the most tired in a V shape?

    A.The one in the front.

    B.The one in the middle.

C.The one at the left end.

D.The one at the right end.

【2】If a wild goose can fly 10 kilometers alone, how far can it fly in a V-shape?

    A.7 km.

    B.10 km.

    C.17 km.

    D.20 km.

【3】How do wild geese communicate while flying?

    A.By making sounds.

    B.By flying up and down.

    C.By moving their wings fast.

D.By changing the shape of the group.

【4】What’s the best title for the text?

    A.The Lifestyle of Wild Geese

    B.The Famous V-shape

    C.The Spirit of Teamwork

    D.The Experiences of Wild Geese

  • 22、   Water has always been necessary for our health. Then what kind of water do you drink, tap water or bottled water? Do you get a healthier, safer and more refreshing drink when you buy bottled water off the shelf? My answer is “no”, and doing so hurts the environment and your wallet.

First of all, there are no studies showing that bottled water is better for you, and in fact, it may be less safe than tap water. A study of over 1,000 people in Belfast found that they couldn’t tell the differences between tap water and bottled water when asked which was purer, more pleasant, natural and refreshing. Bottled water can come from springs or from the mountains. It can also be treated, for example, to have iron removed. It is reported that there is around 82.8g of CO2 for a half-liter bottle. This will be harmful to people’s health when everyone’s drinking it. However, bottled water is popular with many people. Its success is from excellent marketing and our laziness in filling reusable bottles with tap water.

Secondly, bottled water can cost between 500 to 1,000 times more than tap water. In 2015, the UK drank 2.4 billion liters of bottled water, and by 2016, this had risen to 2.6 billion liters. Yet you get this from the tap, for free,

Besides, recycling is improving, but in America, it is said only a quarter of bottles can be used again. So is it really so much better than it is worth both paying for and harming the earth? Or should you stop buying it?

As a general rule, I believe that most of us should enjoy more tap water, and stop using so many bottles.

【1】Why do many people like bottled water?

A.Because bottled water has iron removed.

B.Because bottled water is cheaper than tap water.

    C.Because there’s around 82.8g of CO2 for a bottle.

D.Because people are lazy to fill reusable bottles with tap water.

【2】What can we learn from the numbers in the third paragraph?

A.People spend more and more money on bottled water every year.

B.Bottled water sells well because of its excellent marketing.

C.More people begin to drink tap water to save money.

D.The British drink the most bottled water in the world.

【3】What does the writer mainly talk about in the passage?

A.How tap water should be drunk.

B.The advantages of drinking tap water.

C.Why people like drinking bottled water.

D.The disadvantages of drinking bottled water.

  • 23、Think of a small thing—a piece of chalk, for example. Are you remembering its name, its shape, or its color? Are you remembering the sound it makes when the teacher writes on the blackboard?

Scientists say that memory (记忆) includes different parts of the brain, such as language and the ability of sense. They believe that you begin to create a memory when you notice something with your senses. Then, the sense system sends messages to different brain cells (细胞), which join together to form connections. A new connection goes into your short-term memory. It stays there for about 30 seconds, and then it is either lost or stored in your long-term memory.

Having a good memory means making lots of connections and keeping them in your long-term memory. To do this, you need to put your brain in excellent condition. Eat plenty of brain food such as fish oil, fruit and vegetables. Laughter also makes your brain more active. Also, don’t forget to exercise. So do some sports or just move around a lot in the house. Finally, get plenty of sleep. This will make your memories grow stronger. When you want to remember new information, you must pay special attention. Use your senses—sight, smell, hearing and touch—and keep repeating (重复) the information. In order to do well in your tests this year, you need to turn off the TV, silence your mobile, and go over your work regularly (有规律地). In this way, you make sure to use your full senses on your test only. To remember something special, it is a good idea to use your imagination to create visual (视觉的) connections. For example, you need to take a pencil, an eraser and your ID card to your next test. People prefer to picture the three things into an animal, imagining the ID card as the body of the animal, the pencil as its long neck, and the eraser as its head. It may sound crazy, but it’s fun and it helps you remember what you need to keep in your mind!

【1】In Paragraph 1, the writer talks about a piece of chalk to _________.

A.lead to the topic of the article

    B.show the importance of chalk

    C.let readers remember the word

    D.make readers know his favorite

【2】After brain cells form a new connection, ________.

A.it is stored in the sense system

B.it sends messages to different cells

C.it goes into the short-term memory

D.it puts the brain in excellent condition

【3】The third paragraph is mainly about how to ________.

    A.do well in tests

    B.go over your work

    C.make your memories stronger

D.help your body in good condition

【4】What can we learn from the passage?

A.Memory has nothing to do with the ability of sense.

B.People can use imagination to remember special things.

C.People just need repeating to remember new information.

D.Our brain is difficult to picture different things to improve memory.
