The River Thames is the longest river in England and the second longest in the United Kingdom, after the River Severn. But the Thames is the most famous. That’s probably because it’s in London, the capital city. The Thames goes through London and other parts of the south of England.

27、Spit is good for us in many ways. Without spit in our mouths, we would have a hard time talking. We would find it even harder to eat and swallow(吞咽). But for some animals, spit works better after it has left the mouth. Some animals are great spitters.

Llamas are animals often found in zoos and farms. These animals seem to like their personal space even though they live in groups. Sometimes llamas even spit on each other to get food! When the cobra’s venom gets into the eyes of an animal, the venom causes terrible pain, and even blindness. This gives the snake lots of time to get away.

The walrus spits water at the mud(泥) on the sea floor to get food. This trick is useful because the walrus has very small eyes and poor eyesight(视力). Walruses are also known to spit out water when just playing around.

Spitting is considered to be impolite in people. But for some animals, spitting can be a clever way to get lunch or a clever way to not become lunch!
