21、阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
Do you have memories of being kidnapped (绑架)by aliens and taken away rapidly in a spaceship? You wouldn’t be alone. Several thousand people worldwide reported to have had such experiences, researchers say. But in a new study, a psychology expert at London’s Goldsmiths College says these experiences are proof of the weakness of the human memory, rather than evidence of life in outer space.
“Maybe what we’re dealing with here is false memories, and not that people are actually being kidnapped and taken aboard spaceships,” says Professor Chris French, who surveyed 19 so-called victims.
Several of the victims reported being taken away from their beds or cars by alien creatures around four feet high, with long and lean arms and legs and over-sized heads, French said. Some men said they were forced to take painful medical examinations by the aliens.
Many of the alien experiences could be explained by sleep paralysis, a condition in which a person is awake and aware of the surroundings but is unable to move. Sleep paralysis often leads to hallucinations —the experience of seeing or feeling something that is not really there and 40 percent of people experience the state at least once in their lives, French said. A rich imagination was also at play. Several of the alien victims were more likely to fantasize and reported to have seen ghosts and have unnatural abilities.
“People have very rich fantasy lives,” said French, who is due to present his findings at a public seminar at London’s Science Museum on Wednesday. “So much that they often mix up what’s happening in their heads with what is going on in the real world.”

【3】What is the author’s attitude towards alien experiences?
A. Puzzling B. Objective.
C. Respectful. D. Supportive.

22、On my first day of high school,I asked an eleventh grader where my class was. And he told me it was “on the fourth floor, next to the pool.” I found out five minutes later that we don't even have a fourth floor and there's no pool either! Besides that,I didn't have any trouble with the older kid.
I think the biggest difference between middle and high school is the homework load (工作量) and size of the school. I went from maybe fifteen minutes of homework a night to several hours,so I had to learn how to make full use of time! Our class size is around 550,but joining in clubs, sports, music, and other activities at school makes it easier to get to know people in every grade.
The best advice I can give about the years you spend in high school is to learn things for yourself, not just to get a good grade. There have been so many tests that I've prepared for the night before, gotten an A,and not remembered anything later. I've changed that this year, and I enjoy school so much more. Don't take easy classes just to have a simple year. If you have a choice between chemistry and sports, the first will prove to be a lot more useful!
While drinking and smoking might be present in some middle schools, they're also around in high school. I have a lot of friends who promised they'd never drink or smoke, but are now partying every weekend. If you have “fun” and spend your nights wasted instead of studying, you will regret it when you're applying for (申请) college. The “friends” who say you're a loser for not partying are really not your friends at all. It's hard to see your closest friends grow apart and go in different directions, but don't follow their footsteps. Create your own path in life and make your own decisions.
【1】What does the author think of high school?
A.There are very few activities.
B.It's hard to meet new people there.
C.It requires hard work.
D.There isn't enough time for homework.
【2】The author advises high school students to________.
A.get ready for tests the night before
B.give up sports
C.choose useful classes
D.try their best to get good grades
【3】The text is probably written by________.
A.a high school student
B.a chemistry teacher
C.a college student
D.a sports player
【4】The last paragraph mainly tells us________.
A.about the trouble caused by drinking and smoking
B.not to go to any party in high school
C.not to lose ourselves in high school
D.about the importance of making friends
23、Teens shifting their focus from parents to peers is normal. The self-protective urge to pull away at this stage of parenting can be strong. After all, they don’t seem to need me or want me around, right? 【1】
Stand back and remember that this is not personal.
Children are trying to figure out what their relationship with their parents as an adult is going to look like. 【2】 It’s really painful to parents who are savoring every last moment with their teen under their roof to get their teenager annoyed at any proposal that the parent is using to try to pull them close. Nobody’s doing anything wrong. This is normal development.
Be a lighthouse.
Parents should reach an ideal balance —— “lighthouse parenting”. The adolescent years are a unique opportunity to support and influence our kids, if we can see through their apparent lack of interest in us and recognize how important we really are. As they’re growing, adolescents have a big job to try to answer this fundamental question, “Who am I?” 【3】 As our teens struggle to imagine themselves without us, they will sometimes actively push us away or give us the silent treatment.【4】
Remember that the lame duck experience will be temporary.
Interdependence often looks like once again living under one roof. So parents shouldn’t start counting down the days to that perfectly clean home just yet. Beneath teenagers’ too-cool-for-this exterior, there are soft spots that occasionally show themselves.【5】
A.Part of parent’s job is to wait patiently and non-judgmentally for them to appear.
B.And part of the answer is: ‘I am someone distinct and separate from my parents.’
C.Normal and even desirable as this stage is, it can be surprisingly hurtful for parents.
D.But the transition for parents from all-important to more of a barrier is often overlooked.
E.You should be a stable force for your children to measure themselves against and always return to.
F.But we shouldn’t take that outward expression of their struggle toward independence as evidence that we’re no longer needed.
G.But just as any parent at this stage may feel powerless, maybe this is a time to be more hands-on, just in a different way.
24、French writer Annie Ernaux won the 2022 Nobel Prize in literature in 2022. She is the first French female writer to win the prize. In the words of the Nobel committee , Emaux was given the award“for the courage and clinical acuity (敏锐的洞察力)”of her writing.
Having spent over 5 decades as a writer, the 82-year-old winner has published more than 20 books to her name , including Cleaned Out (1974), Shame (1997), a 2008 memoir (回忆录) called The Years and A Girl’s Story (2016).
Rather than consider herself a writer of fiction, Emaux has used the term“an ethnologist (人类学家) of herself”“ to describe herself.
Bormn in 1940 in a rural village in Normandy, France, Ernaux grew up in a working-class environment as her parents ran a combined grocery store and cafe. She worked as a teacher before becoming a full-time writer.
Two books by other French writers inspired her to be a writer: The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and Distinction by Pierre Bourdieu. The former led her to write about feminism (女权主义),and the latter raised her awareness of the huge gap between her and the environment she grew up in. Besides her reading influences, her“upbringing and experiences navigating adolescence and adulthood”also inspire many of her works, noted CNN. For example, the book Shame explores the theme of childhood trauma (创伤) while A Girl’s Story follows a young woman’s coming of age in the 1950s.
Though the matters Ernaux describes in her books are serious and even sometimes heavy, they are always written in plain language. Emaux described her style as flat writing” through which she aims to tell her stories objectively,“unshaped by florid (过多修饰的) description or overwhelming emotions ,”noted Fox News.
“She writes about things that no one else writes about, for instance her jealousy(嫉妒), her experiences as an abandoned lover and so on.I mean, really hard experiences,” Anders Olsson, chairman of the Nobel Committee for Literature, said after the award announcement in Stockholm. He went on to say,“ She gives words for these experiences that are very simple and striking. They are short books, but they are really moving.”
