Anthony 's dance video went viral on social media with hundreds of thousands of views from people all over the globe. The video eventually caught the attention of Cynthia Harvey, a former principle dancer with American Ballet Theater and the current artistic director of the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of Dance, one of America’s most distinguished ballet schools. "A friend who lives in the UK sent me the video.” Harvey told Cincinatti.com. “Within a day, I was trying to find him.”
Two days later, Harvey managed to contact the boy and his teacher. Soon after, she had arranged for full scholarships so Anthony could attend the ABT virtual Young Dancer Summer Workshop, a three-week intensive program. "A child who shows this much devotion, you just have to help," she said.
Anthony's teacher, Daniel Ajala Owoseni, is a self-taught dancer who opened the Leap of Dance Academy in his own small home.

22、Different Approaches to Reducing Food Waste
Food plays a key role in people’s life. While many people in poor communities (社区) suffer from a shortage of food, a large amount of food is wasted in the rest of the world. 【1】 Here are some tips on how to reduce food waste.
Learn to store food. Not sure how to keep those greens from wilting (蔫) overnight? Can’t keep your tomatoes fresh for more than a day or two? Do your research on food storage and you’ll get the rewards. Not sure where to start? 【2】
Use it all. 【3】 For example, leave the skin on carrots and potatoes (The skins actually have a ton of valuable nutrients!), save the beet greens for a salad, and don’t throw away the outer skin of oranges!
【4】 Many fruits and vegetables are thrown away because they aren’t “pretty” enough. Buying food that comes in a different shape, size or colour helps use up food that might be given up.
Understand best-before dates correctly. People often confuse best-before dates with expiry dates (有效期). The best-before date has nothing to do with the safety of the food. 【5】 So while the taste may not be that good, many food items are still safe to eat for many days beyond the best-before date.
A.It refers to flavour (味道) and nutritional value, which is of great help to your body.
B.Therefore, food waste is a serious problem that needs our attention.
C.Check out Local Produce Storage Guide online.
D.Pick the “funny looking” food.
E.You often remove a part of whatever food you’ re cooking with, but often those food items can be saved.
F.Keep a “need to eat” list everyday in your daily life.
G.This will save you time in the long run.
23、Electrical devices(仪器)could soon use power made by human energy. Scientists say they have developed an experimental device that produces electricity from the physical movement of a person walking , British scientist Max Donelan and other scientists in Canada and the United States developed the device.
The device connects to a person’s knee. As the person walks ,the device captures energy each time the person slows down. To do this ,the device helps with the slowing sown movement of the leg, the movements of the walking person push parts of a small machine that produces electricity. Using the device, an adult walking quickly could produce thirteen watts of electricity in just a minute. Donelan says walking at that speed could produce enough power to operate a laptop computer for six minutes.
There are several possible uses for the device. Developers say it could help people who work in areas without electricity to operate small computers. The device could also he used in hospitals to operate heart pacemakers(起博器), it could even be used to assist in the movement of robotic arms and legs.
The experimental version of the device weighs about one and a half kilograms, but it is too costly for most people to buy, but the researchers hope to make a lighter, less costly version, An improved version should be ready in one year.
The developers hope the device will one day help developing countries; nearly twenty five percent of people around the world live without electric power.
A similar product was invented in 2005 by Larry Rome of the University of Pennsylvania, He created a bag carried on a person’s back that also produces power from walking. The knee device does not produce as much electricity as the bag, but the bag requires the walker to carry a load of twenty to thirty kilograms.
【1】The second paragraph mainly talks about
A.who developed the device
B.how the device works
C.several possible uses for the devices
D.how much electricity the device can produce
【2】What is the disadvantage of the experimental version of the device?
A.It is too heavy for the walker to bear
B.It is too complex for people to use
C.It is too expensive for most people to afford
D.It will slow down one’s walking speed
【3】Compared with the device designed by Larry Rome, this new device
A.produces power without adding more loads to the walker
B.can produce more power in a much shorter time
C.needs to be equipped with a battery
D.can help the walker walk faster
【4】From the passage, we can learn that the electrical device can
A.help housewives operate the washing machine
B.make it much easier for us to go online
C.produce more electricity than that invented by Larry Rome
D.be applied in medical fields to operate heart pacemakers
【5】What would be the best title for the passage
A.First device powered by walking will soon be on the market
B.Advanced technology brings in a new way to operate heart pacemakers
C.Device gives new meaning to the idea of power walking
D.Human energy will become a main source of electricity
24、The “melting pot” in American cuisine(菜肴。烹饪法) is a myth, not terribly unlike the idea of a melting pot of American culture, notes chef Dan Barber. “Most cultures don’t think about their cuisine in such monolithic(统一的) terms,” he says. “French, Mexican, Chinese, and Italian cuisines each consist of dozens of distinct regional foods. And I think ‘American’ cuisine is moving in the same direction, becoming more localized, not globalized. ”
American cuisine is shaped by the natural wealth of the country. Having never faced agricultural hardship, Americans don’t have to rely on rotating crops, such as the Japanese, whose food culture now showcases buckwheat (荞麦) alongside rice, or the Indians, or the French and Italians, who feature beans alongside wheat. “That kind of negotiation with the land forced people to incorporate(接受) those crops in to the culture,” says Barber. And so eating soba noodles becomes part of what it means to be Japanese, and eating beans becomes part of what it means to be French.
So if what we eat is what we are, what are Americans? Well, meat. “If Americans have any unifying food identity, I would say we are a mostly white meat culture,” says Barber. “The protein-centric dinner plate, whether you’re talking about a boneless chicken breast, or a 16-ounce steak, as an everyday expectation is something that America really created, and now exports to the rest of the world.”
Every single culture and religion uses food as part of their celebrations, says Ellen Gustafson, co-founder of the FEED Project and The 30 Project, which aims to deal with both hunger and overweight issues globally. “The celebratory nature of food is universal. Every season, every harvest, and every holiday has its own food, and this is true in America as well. It helps define us.”
【1】According to the first paragraph, American cuisine ________.
A.consists of varieties of regional foods
B.is becoming more and more globalized
C.has absorbed a lot from Chinese cuisine
D.is not as unified as its culture

【3】We can conclude from the article that _____ has become part of what it means to be American.
A.eating rice
B.eating beans
C.eating white meat

A.American cuisine is healthier than other cuisines.
B.American cuisine hasn’t changed much over time.
C.Americans use food as part of their celebrations.
D.Americans are quite proud of their own cuisine.
