二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   Back in kindergarten, friendship was easy: you approached a kid, asked him to be your friend, and the deal was done. 1At this point, new best friends don't just sit next to you on the first day of school - you actually have to try to make friends. Luckily, researchers have been looking into what people need to form lasting friendships, and they come down to three simple points.

    Location

Chances are that your best friends forever in school were probably in your class. They may have even sat at the desk next to yours.2. They are most likely to form between people who live or work in the same general area as you do.

Of course, these days people make plenty of meaningful friendships with people across the world online.3 That's not to say those relationships aren't real; it's just that making the effort to actually visit those people face-to-face can go a very long way.

    Opportunities for communication

You need to be in a situation where you're having regular, face-to-face communication. Again, this is where the classroom was king, but there are plenty of places where this can happen, too: the gym, a favorite neighborhood restaurant or a recreational(娱乐的) sports team.4. With all those birthday parties and after-school activities spent together, parents might as well become friends.

    Timing

Friendship is fun, but it's also work. You need to make time for communication. You need money to celebrate when your friends make progress in their jobs. Not everyone has the hours and money especially if they've got a time-consuming job or a sick family member.5 Each of them requires their own time and energy.

A.The same goes for friendships later on in life.

B.What's more, some people just have enough friends.

C.The things you meet most often start to grow on you.

D.But research suggests those friendships are not as deep as those made offline.

E.It's why parents of children who are friends often become friends themselves.

F.And you need to have the energy to hang out after you've been working all day.

G.But as people get older, their friendships start to weaken and the new ones form less frequently.

  • 23、Suffering from a phobia (恐惧症) is far from delightful. For adults, the phobia can seriously limit a person’s functioning. 【1】 If you or your child experiences a phobia, you may wish to try the following to reduce the distress surrounding it.

    Name the fear.

【2】 Dr. Dan Siegel, clinical professor of psychiatry at UCLA, summarizes this experience as “name it to tame it.” Pixar’s movie Monsters, Inc. illustrates this nicely as the monster in the closet becomes less scary when Boo names it Kitty.

    【3】

Ask yourself whether the fear is sensible. Since many fears are groundless in nature, this step helps to reduce “worst-case scenario (方案)” thinking. It is important to note that while the percentage of many feared items happening is extremely remote, they are not necessarily 0 percent. Therefore, this step is often paired with finding a way to make peace with the feared item still existing in the world.

    Safely face the fear.

This is demonstrated to be the most enduring way to put fears behind us. Any unhelpful reaction, especially avoidance, must be removed. It’s vital to set the stage for success by safely and gradually facing the feared item, step by step. For instance, if someone is afraid of snakes, picturing a snake in one’s mind comes first, then looking at a picture of the rattlesnake, and finally going to the zoo. 【4】 Not facing, or worse, avoiding fear tends to give it more power and make the phobia stronger over time.

In summary, it is perfectly natural and human to experience fears. 【5】 If a phobia lasts, it is always an option to seek the help of a mental health professional. Whatever you do, it is important not to let the fear consume you or your child’s life.

    A.Analyze the fear.

    B.Make peace with the fear.

C.Labeling the fear tends to reduce the power of the feared item.

D.For children, it leads to increased anxiety and may lead up to school avoidance.

E.These steps can be paired with relaxation strategies to limit the physiological fear response.

F.Generally speaking, the more a person seeks treatment for the phobia, the better the outcome.

G.However, when that fear becomes too much or fixed, it can prevent us from enjoying the joys or necessities of life.

  • 24、Television has turned 88 years old on September 7, 2015, and it has never looked better.

In its youth, television was a piece of furniture with a tiny, round screen showing unclear pictures of low budget programs. In spite of its shortcomings, it became well-received. Between 1950 and 1963, the number of American families with a television jumped from 9% to 92% of the population.

As the audience got larger, the technology got better. Television sets became more reliable through the 1960s. Both of the reception and the picture improved. The major networks started broadcasting programs in color.

Even greater improvements were coming according to Sanford Brown, who wrote an article for the Post in 1967. Surprisingly, just about every prediction he made in the article became a reality. For example: All sets in the not distant future will be color instruments. He also predicted that TV sets would become smaller, simpler, more reliable and less expensive and may forever put the TV repairman out of work. Smaller sets do not, of course, mean smaller screens. TV engineers expect screens to get much bigger. However, today's 3D TV is even farther away, if it's coming at all.  There is some doubt whether the public would be eager to pay for it, in view of people's cold reception given to 3D movies.

But the technology with the greatest potential, according to Brown, was cable television (有线电视), which was still in its early stages then. As he predicted, the future of cable television was highly interactive. It wasn't cable television that gave Americans their electronic connection to the world, however. It was the Internet.  He even foresaw the future office: using picture phones, big screen televisions for conferences, and computers providing information, at the touch of a button.

Brown ever said, “The future of television is no longer a question of what we can invent. It's a question of what we want.”

【1】What can we infer about television sets in the 1960s?

A.They were very popular with Americans.

    B.The reception showed no improvement

    C.They showed black-and-white pictures

D.They were out of order now and then

【2】Which of the followings did Sanford Brown fail to predict?

    A.Television's good quality.

    B.The invention of 3-D TV.

    C.The future office’s model

    D.The potential of cable TV.

【3】What is the text mainly about?

    A.The shortcomings of television.

    B.The bright future of television.

    C.The development of television.

    D.The invention of television.
