25、 Who would win in a competition to memorize numbers, a chimp(猩猩) or a teenager? The teenager? Think again.Scientists have proved that chimps perform better than human beings when it comes to this kind of problem. We may have to rethink what we believe about human memory.
Memory is our ability to learn something, save it and recall it when needed. Our memories are important to our sense of self, our personalities, and our ability to understand the world
Scientists say that there are different types of memory. There is short-term memory and long-term memory.Your short-term memory saves information for a few seconds or a few minutes. For example, the time it takes to compare the prices of a few items(物件)in a store.Long-term memory involves the information you try hard to keep, because it's meaningful to you.(an example is data about family and friends). And then there is visual (视觉的) memory and sound memory. But these are not hard and fast: scientists argue a lot about the nature of memory.
Scientists have also found that people memorize things in different ways. Some memorize better with the help of pictures.Others are helped more by sounds. One thing s for sure.If you can combine different kinds of memory together, you will remember a lot So why not try pictures with English words? At the same time, listen to recordings of the same group of words. This may help when it comes to memorizing it.
Imagination and association can be useful, too.By imagination, scientists mean to picture a word in your mind.Association means relating the word to something you have already known.

In 1917 he joined the army and was posted in Alabama, where he met his future wife Zelda Sayre. Then he had to make some money to impress her.
His life with her was full of great happiness, as he wrote in his diary “My own happiness in the past often got such joy that I could share it even with the person dearest to me but had to walk it away in quiet streets and take down parts of it in my diary.”
This side of paradise, his first novel, was published in 1920. Encouraged by its success, Fitzgerald began to devote more time to his writing. Then he continued with the novel the Beautiful and Damned (1922), a collection of short stories Thales of the Jazz Age (1922), and a play The Vegetable (1923). 27、 They hang from trees. They float in rivers and oceans. They are piled up in landfills(垃圾填埋场). Our frequent use of plastic products has, for many years, been a leading cause of serious environmental problems in the world. Last month, China drew up new guidelines(指导方针) aiming to bring plastic pollution under control across the country in five years’ time.
According to the new guidelines, the ban(禁令) on the use of non-biodegradable(不可生物降解的) plastic bags will have been applied to cities including Beijing and Shanghai by the end of this year. Other sources of plastic garbage will have been banned in these cities by the end of 2022. And that rule will have extended nationwide by late 2025.
Fortunately, China will not start from zero. Late last year, the country announced a national standard for biodegradable plastic shopping bags. It is technologically prepared for their production. Some regions have gained valuable experience that others can learn from. For example, Jilin province is leading the way by providing eco-friendly(环保的) shopping bags in some local supermarkets.
Given the size of China’s consumer market, one main obstacle(障碍) is the large number of plastic items that are being used by restaurants and e-commerce(电子商务) platforms. It’s estimated that nearly 25 billion plastic bags were used for deliveries in 2018. Most of them were rarely reused.
However, most Chinese people welcomed the government’s effort to reduce the use of plastics. “Beijing is thinking about the problem seriously,” said Tang Damin, a member of Greenpeace East Asia in Beijing. He added that the policy could be far more effective(有效) by using incentives(激励) such as a deposit(押金) return program on plastic products.

C.plastic bags won’t be allowed to be used in Beijing by the end of 2022
D.a deposit return program on plastic products will be put into practicing in 2023
【3】What is the biggest challenge to follow the guidelines?
A.Most Chinese people aren’t used to using paper bags.
B.It’s hard to make effective policy to solve the problem.
C.Many supermarkets are still providing customers with plastic bags.
D.Restaurants and e-commerce platforms need large number of plastic items.

A.The new guidelines are not much useful.
B.People should be encouraged to follow the policy.

【5】After reading the passage, we can infer that .

28、 Hundreds of thousands of people often see their faces on the TV screen. They may be speaking “live” from the scene of an earthquake or interviewing a famous person. They look confident as they present stories or give regular updates on an important news event. They are TV reporters.
To many of us, TV reporters seem to have an e【1】 job. After all, they will be among the first to know about major local and world events and they often get to watch these events happen right before their eyes. They e【2】 have many opportunities to meet well-known people and top leaders.
Actually, reporters not only have to put in a lot of hard work, they must also develop different skills and have the right personality for the job.
TV reporters must tell an interesting story so that people will want to watch and pay attention to it. To get the news to their viewers as quickly as possible, TV reporters have to work long and irregular hours.
