26、 China's first homemade science fiction(sci-fi)blockbuster(大片), The Wandering Earth, has amazed space scientists and engineers as the country is making efforts to make breakthroughs in space exploration.
The film, adapted from Liu Cixin's novel of the same name tells a story about how humans, threatened by a dying and swelling sun, set up huge engines to push the planet out of the solar system, setting it on a journey lasting 25 centuries in search of a new sun.In the film,a Chinese astronaut working in an international space station joins hands with his son to save the Earth from a collision with Jupiter.
Chinese astronaut Chen Dong, who lifted off with the Shenzhou-1l spacecraft for a 33-day space mission in 2016, said he was thrilled after watching the film. The astronaut in the film played a vital role in saving mankind, Chen said." His sacrifice touched my heart. If I happened to face a similar situation, I would definitely make the same decision, "Chen said.Astronauts are pioneers in our exploration into deep space, and I expect more films that can inspire our space exploration.”
Liu is one of China's most leading sci-fi writers and a winner of the Hugo award in 2015 for his novel The Three-Body Problem. He said the sci-fi industry reflects a country's national strength, and sci-fi films need a strong economy that allows astronauts to turn fiction into reality .His view is in agreement with the film’s director Guo Fan, who said China's space exploration would inspire more homemade sci-fi films."If this film is a box office success, we will have a sequel(续集).It's like the coming-of-age of the industry.”

27、 The second little pig was unlucky. He built his house from sticks. It was blown away by a wolf, which quickly ate him up. His brother, by contrast, built a wolf-proof house from bricks. The fairy tale could have been written by a salesman for the construction industry, which strongly favours brick, concrete and steel. However, in the real world it would help reduce pollution and slow global warming if more builders copied the wood-loving second pig.
In 2015 world leaders meeting in Paris agreed to move towards zero greenhouse-gas emissions(排放)in the second half of this century. That is a tall order, and the building industry makes it even taller. Cement-making alone produces 6% of the world’s carbon emissions. Steel, half of which goes into buildings, accounts for another 8%. If you count all of the energy that goes into lighting, heating and cooling homes and offices, the world’s buildings start to look like a serious environmental problem.
Governments in the rich world are now trying to promote greener behavior by requiring developers to build new projects to “zero carbon” standards(标准). From January 1st 2019 all new public buildings in the European Union must be built to “nearly zero-energy” standards. All other types of buildings will follow in January 2021. Governments in eight further countries are being advised to apply the similar standards.
These standards are less green than they seem. Wind turbines and solar panels on top of buildings look good but are much less productive than wind and solar farms. And the standards only count the emissions from running a building, not those let out when it was made. Those are thought to account for between 30% and 60% of the total over a structure’s lifetime.
【1】Why is the fairy tale mentioned at the beginning of the passage?
A.To inform builders of salesmen’s trick.
B.To remind readers of a childhood fairy tale.
C.To persuade the builders to copy the second pig.
D.To attract readers to a problem of the building industry.
【2】What does the underlined word “that” refer to in Paragraph 2?
A.To reduce pollution. B.To construct taller brick buildings.
C.To slow global warming. D.To reach zero greenhouse-gas emissions.
【3】What is the author’s attitude toward the “zero carbon” standards?
A.Confident. B.Supportive.
C.Doubtful D.Unconcerned.
【4】What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Brick Houses to be Safer
B.Wood Buildings to be Greener
C.The “Zero Carbon” Standards
D.The Paris World Leader meeting
28、 A woman from America has managed to train her beloved dog Stella how to talk. Sadly, the dog can't speak, but it can communicate basic commands by pressing buttons of a soundboard( 发生板). Stella's owner Christina started using the technology when the dog was just eight weeks old. Now Stella is 18 months old and can say 29 words.
“The way she uses words to communicate and the words she's combining are really similar to a 2-year-old child. Unsurprisingly, the dog's favorite word is"walk' fallowed closely by ‘beach’”, Christina said.
Stella's progress was updated online. “Today when she heard some noises outside and wanted to investigate, I told her we were staying inside,” said Christina. “Stella responded by saying, ‘Look’ 9 times in a row, and then ‘Come outside’. She was clearly in a more frantic (发狂似的)state, and her language use matched that. And I'm impressed that Stella is communicating with language during her more heightened state, not just when she’s calm and in a quiet space. This shows that words are becoming more automatic for her to use.
Stella surprised Christina when Stella was standing by the door and whimpering(呜咽)one day. After a bit of pacing back and forth, the dog went over to the soundboard and said “Want”, “Jake” and “Come”, saying that she wanted Christina’ s husband Jake to come home. In about 15 minutes, Jake walked through the door and Stella said the word “Happy”. Christina hopes to expand Stella’ s vocabulary in the future to see just how many phrases the dog can master.
【1】What do we know about the soundboard?
A.It includes 29 buttons. B.It is Stella’ s favorite toy.
C.It is invented by Christina. D.it is used to help Stella talk.
【2】Which of the following is probably Stella’ s favorite activity?
A.Taking a walk. B.Going to the beach.
C.Talking with kids. D.Looking after babies.
【3】What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Stella disliked staying at home.
B.Stella and Christina had a quarrel
C.Stella' s language skills were improved.
D.Stella made noises to draw people’s attention.
【4】Why was Stella in a bad mood according to the last paragraph?
A.Her soundboard was broken. B.She was punished by Christina.
C.Her owner didn’t play with her. D.She failed to see Jake that day.

33、There has, in recent years, been an outpouring of information about the impact of buildings on the natural environment. Information which explains and promotes green construction design strives to _________ others of its effectiveness and warns of the dangers of ignoring the issue. Seldom do these documents offer any advice to practitioners, such as those designing mechanical and electrical systems for a building, on how to use this knowledge on a _________ level.
Although there are a good many advocates of “green” construction in the architectural industry, able to list enough reasons why buildings should be designed in a (n) _________ way, that doesn’t translate into a booming green construction industry. Likewise, the fact that plenty of architectural firms have experience in green design is not enough to make green construction _________. The driving force behind whether a building is constructed with minimal environmental impact _________ the owner of the building; that is, the person financing the project. If the owner considers green design unimportant, or of secondary importance, then more than likely, it will not be _________ into the design.
The commissioning (委任) process plays a key role in _________ the owner gets the building he wants, in terms of design, costs and risk. Owners who _________ the commissioning process, or fail to take “green” issues into account when doing so, often run into trouble once their building is up and running. Materials and equipment are installed as planned, and, at first glance, appear to fulfil their purpose adequately. _________, in time, the owner realizes that operational and maintenance costs are higher than necessary, and that the occupants are dissatisfied with the results. These factors in turn lead to higher ownership costs as well as increased environmental impact.
In some cases, an owner may be __________ of the latest trends in green building design, which, however, does not necessarily lead to an interpretation that the client already has an idea of how green he intends the structure to be. Indeed, this initial interaction between owner and firm is the ideal time for a designer to outline and __________ the ways that green design can meet the client’s objectives. In this way, he may turn a project originally not __________green design into a potential candidate.
Typically, when condiering whether or not to adopt a green __________, an owner will ask about additional costs or return for investment. In a typical project, landscape architects, mechanical and electrical engineers are not involved until a much later stage. However, in green design, they have a role to play from they outset, since green design demands__________between these disciplines, which requires additional cost. However, there are examples of green design which have demonstrated__________costs for long-term operation, ownership and even construnction.

We have a pit bull(比特犬). We found him a few weeks ago, walking along the road in a rural area. He tried jumping on cars, and we thought maybe his family was camping somewhere nearby, so we passed him by. A few hours later, on our return trip, he was still in the same place, again, trying to get folks to stop for him. When he saw us, he lay down in the middle of the road, so we were unable to get around him.
We stopped the car and looked around for a few minutes, trying to figure out if anyone was around from whom he was separated. It didn’t appear so. Then, we took a good look at the dog. He had no collar and he was really thin. We decided he was deserted.
My husband sad, “If he doesn’t bite me when I try to pick him up to put him in the car, then we have a new dog.” The dog happily joined us with no fight at all. The only thing we were in danger of was getting licked to death. He kept sticking his head between the two front seats and thanking us for picking him up.
The dog was clearly on the road for some time, He was extremely under weight. He was covered in scars and new wounds. We have guessed that some of the scars were from when he was on the road. We thought of possible fights with coyotes(土狼), but he also looked as though he was used to fighting other dogs. We figured his incredibly sweet personality was the reason why he was deserted. He can’t have been a good fighting dog.
Therefore, we fed him a lot over the course of the next two weeks and he gained over twenty pounds.

My fiance(未婚夫)and I were excited about shopping for our first home. But our funds were limited, and none of the houses in our price range seemed satisfactory.
One agent recommended a house in particular..Although her description sounded wonderful, the price was beyond our range,so we declined. But she kept urging us to have a look at least.
We finally did and it was love at first sight:It was Our Home, small and charming, overlooking a quiet lake.Walking through the rooms and talking with the owners,a nice elderly couple,we felt the warmth and happiness of the marriage within that home.As perfect as it was,the price remained too high for us.But every day,we would sit by the lake, looking at the house and dreaming of what it would be like to live there.
Days later,we made a(n)offer-far below the asking price.Surprisingly, they didn't laugh at us.They renewed their offer instead. It was also much more than we could afford, but far less than the original asking price.
The next day,we got a disappointing message that another buyer had offered a much higher price.Even so,we decided to talk with the owners directly. We made our final offer, which still was thousands of dollars 'less than' the other buyer's bid.We knew it,but we had to try.Nobody knew if we could get it.
Paragraph 1:We went to the owners' home after we made our final offer. The other buyer came to visit the owners too.

Paragraph 2:The owner looked at us and said,"I want to sell my house to you!"
