四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   One of the biggest mistakes a person can make is to try not to make mistakes. As you make decisions in your life, you will very likely make some mistakes. But making mistakes is a big part of how you get experience and learn.

Here is a simple example. You do poorly in a test because you didn’t study enough. One bad test is not the end of the world, but it can quickly teach you that if you don’t study, you won’t do well.

Mistakes sometimes lead to arguments (争吵)between people. This is true of people of all ages—young people and old people. This happens a lot — especially at work.

There is a word in English that is very good to think about when you end up in an argument and want to learn from it. It is called “empathize”(感同身受). To empathize means to try and understand things from another person point of view.

If you learn to empathize, you will be able to learn very quickly from the mistakes you make and the mistakes you think other people have made. You can turn mistakes into opportunities (机会).

For example, if you learn to empathize, you will understand the people you work with much better. Instead of getting angry when you don’t agree with someone—a friend, or a colleague (同事)at work, you will learn to talk about problems and be more patient with people you disagree with.

This might stop you from giving up a job or losing a friend when you get frustrated (沮丧的)at  someone—or they get frustrated at you.

So next time you think you’ve made a mistake, stop and ask yourself what you’ve learned from it, and how you will do differently in the future.

1In the second paragraph, the writer gives the example to tell us   .

A.making mistakes is a part of life

B.one bad test is not the end of the world

C.if you don’t studyyou won’t do well in exams

D.we can get experience and learn from mistakes

    2In Paragraph 7, the underlined word “ This ’’ means   .

    A.making mistakes B.learning to empathize

C.being more patient with people you disagree with D.understanding the people you work with much better

3According to the writer, the statement  “ ’’ is true.

    A.Everyone makes mistakes every day

B.We can turn mistakes into success

C.We should try not to make mistakes at all

D.Mistakes sometimes cause arguments between people

4What would be the best title for this passage?

A.Mistakes Are Just a Part of Life B.Never Make Mistakes

C.Making Mistakes is a Good Thing D.Making Mistakes is a Terrible Thing

  • 27、Dinosaurs (恐龙) have died out for more than 65 million years. They left no pictures, but libraries were filled with books about them. They live in the imaginations of people. We can only imagine them in our mind because we can not see real dinosaurs now. We have known about these strange living things for more than 200 years. Their fossil (化石) record was first discovered in 1818, and the word“dinosaur” was created in 1842 by a scientist.

What we know about dinosaurs comes only through the fossil record they left behind. We can get an idea of how they looked by building their skeletons (骨架) with fossilized bones and teeth. We know that they lived on land. Some walked on two legs. Others preferred four legs. Some were fast and others were quite slow.

However, there are many things we don’t know about dinosaurs. For example, what color were they? Nobody knows. Did they cry like lions, how can we know? The fossil record does not speak. Scientists said, “We need to do more research to know more about the color and sound of dinosaurs.”

Keep in mind that we just know a little about dinosaurs. More research should be done to find exact facts about them.
